If you have implemented the modifier, how have you done so?
it's impossible to win; you'll have to lose eventually :^)

Any additional information for voters?
we put in waaaaaaaay too much effort in on the audio stuff lol

(also this game was made entirely in vanilla java: no 3rd party stuff here!)

This is great. 10/10 I included it in my compilation video series of the ‘So Bad It’s Good’ Jam, if you’d like to take a look. :)

Developer

ayy nice

glad you liked it!

I try to play it with the itch app but you game is giving me java issues..

Developer

open up the game folder in explorer and just click on the .jar or the .exe (depending on what version of the game you downloaded) in there

might cut out any weirdness from the itch app

and, if you don't already have java, you can download it from here: https://www.java.com/en/download/

You may have put a lot of effort on the audio part but it's great. Good work.

I like it! My favourite parts are the hidden jokes, and the soundtrack (one of the best in this jam!).

Developer(+1)

good to know that the effort I put into making and hiding those things didn't go to waste :^)

I really liked the gamplay, it's simple but really entertaining. The soundtrack is a masterpiece. It was quite fun to play and I loved the introduction. Finally, someone who appreciates the beauty of a kazoo.

Developer

ah yes, another person of culture, I see

Wow, I never thought a games soundtrack could be so beautiful it would make me cry but, here we are.

Graphics aren't technically stunning but aesthetically pleasing. I think it would be easy for this game to look like something that could give someone a seizure, but it doesn't so good job!

Gameplay is simple but it works well, easy to pick it up but difficult to get really good at.

I loved the intro, funny stuff man, definitely so bad its good.

Developer(+1)

well, trying to give people seizures would just be extra effort, y'know? and I figured that your ears would be under enough sensory overload from the audio experience alone.

but yeah if this game is making you cry, you might want to see a doctor. chances are you might have a very rare allergic reaction to buttons, and your doctor might be able to prescribe you something to help you to avoid having these allergic reactions. or, at very least, something to make you so high you don't notice the allergic reaction.

I've decided to try using a standard format for all my feedback this time around. Please excuse me if I come across as overly curt or miss something important about your game. I'm writing these all quite hastily as there are a lot of games in the jam this year!

What I liked

Simple but effective gameplay.

The dry irony and bitter satire of the premise.

A solid visual style.

The music.

What I didn't like

The leaderboard doesn't seem to work.

Did I think it was so bad it was good?

Definitely.

My thoughts on the modifier implementation

Normally I'm kind of meh on games that implemented the modifier by just making the game hard or unwinnable, but in this case it works because of how it fits the theme of the game.

Other remarks

It runs fine using AdoptOpenJDK 8, which I have installed on my machine, but consider bundling a JRE.

Verdict

Simple but effective.

If you have any questions, comments, queries or concerns, please reply and I'll do my best to get back to you.

This game has one of the best intros I've seen so far this year. I absolutely love the concept, and the sound really makes the whole experience. I think as far as striking the "So Bad it's Good" note, this one really has it under wraps.

The  gameplay is fairly basic, but I played it a good few times to try get and get a good score. Overall, another very solid entry.

+bonus points for the kazoo
