I think with a bit more polish this game would have a lot of potential! the boat easily clips and gets stuck a bit against the land, and the birds are very hard to hit! It's also pretty long, so I though it was neverending at the start. Overall still a nice little game thats fun once you undertand whats going on!
yep the canoe is really not as good as i would've liked .. and the map definitely could be better designed.

I liked landing hard shots on the birds. I think it's really smart to not give the full WASD movement, and only allow going in the direction you see, so player should always choose between shooting for points or moving away from danger.
Cudos for adding different input types, though that might have distracted you from more testing and improving core mechanics.
I think if you polish it up and add some more dangers to make the escape feel better, that can be a funny nice game.
yeah i wanted the canoe system to be a bit better but i had to rush make a thing lol.. Roary the Crocodile definitely should be faster and more aggro and i might add he has like a tidal wave attack or something...

There doesn't seem to be any ending, the game just goes on forever? You can easily just paddle backwards past the crocodile too

Looks ok, The camera rotates weirdly, and it seems like its just different assets glued together (correct me if im wrong). The player model (?) doesnt move with the camera, boat doesnt rotate etc. etc.

There is sound everywhere needed, but sound doesnt really add much to the game
Killing the birds is kinda satisfying, but theres not much else to do in this game. You mentioned that this is a rush job, so in terms of that this is really good:) Keep up the good work!
if you go all the way down the river there is the tent and the game ends, gotta get close to the tent or dock... but yeah the river kinda too long and the croc isnt hard enough.. i wanted it to be relaxing but yeah its a bit too relaxing.
yeah there is definitely rush job problems goin on ... i wanted to make a fps asset Easy Character Movement 2 work where i can enter the canoe and the canoe is really good and all that .. and i was working on it but time was running out and i hastily made up some kinda simple controllers of my own but was tooo rush and not figuring out all the problems.
(Easy Character Movement 2 is really good ive spent like ~4~6~months before making my own kinematic controller ..based on like 2 papers of pseudocode which suck (and my attempt sucked) b4 i bought KCC... and then i had to spend forrever tweaking KCC... and then ECM2 came along and its just better and solves what i wanted... (kinematic important for highquality mp) )

I think this game has lots of potential - it looks great and some of the controls feel good.
I never once saw Roary, is this a bug or was I moving too fast through the level? I also stopped hearing his roars after like three times.
Gameplay wise, I feel like the camera is always moving, even if you hold still. I don't like this because it forces you to constantly readjust your mouse, even if you just want to hold still and move forward. It also feels kinda weird to have the canoe move in 4 directions depending on where you're looking - maybe having it rotate to would feel a bit more natural for a canoe than having it strafe.
There's also a weird camera issue if you look backwards. It might be a good idea to remove the player character model and just have the bow, so that you don't see the camera clip into the model. This could work since it doesn't seem to serve any concrete purpose!
The bow feels good, and the arrows feel like they have weight. It feels good to shoot the bow and it is satisfying to adjust your aim correctly.
Sound wise, I think the game feels relaxing due to the music and birds, but I think you're intending for it to be a bit more intense because of Roary, so maybe you could take a look at other music choices, if that's a feeling you share!

thanks yeah theres alot of rush job especially since i was working on a much complex systems and then unfortunately rush coded to make a "complete enough thing" in time and its kinda sloppy... i could def fix this up soon ..

yeah Roary starts to the left of the level and is always chasing player kinda slow cause for me i was stopping alot to shoot at birds so it felt like good pace to me but i know he is really slow lol. and he roars every like 5 seconds or so and you hear him if he is really close to you ... so its like you can stop and shoot at birds at leisure and when he is close you get a warning.
Cool game! The artwork reminds me of raft. did you take inspiration from that game? Also, are the arrows not supposed to do any damage to the croc hahaha. I kept trying to shoot him! Maybe you should make it so that if you hit him a certain amount of times he gets stunned? Great work either way! <3
.. if its working totally right... actually his hit box is small by his head.. when you hear the dink you are hitting him... (the arrows on the ground hurt him when he walks into them too should be fixed) you do 1 - 5 damage per arrow and he has 100 life ... and he gives 10 points if u kill him ... felt he should be killable but really hard .. he supposed to be menacing pressure in a chillout bow vs birds game.
i was thinking maybe he should have like a tidal wave and its basically like a death wall that forces you down the path so its like a time attack get as many birds as you can before you are forced to exit the map ... but idk.. actually i wanted to make a really nice canoe mechanisms but i didnt have the time to make that into the jam... i want to make a nice canoe for a larger game i wanna make.
