Nice game.
The idea doesn't feel so fresh, but I loved the execution despite kinda default graphics (except the intro and finish, which are masterpiece :))
The choice of assets is humorous. The escape theme is kinda present, but I think you still have cheated with it a little, though in a funny way.
I love how you introduced the bouncing skip in the first level, and when just ripped it off the player and make them actually go and solve challenges: really thoughtful level-design.
I also don't think it's too hard (it's the genre), but maybe don't put a hard score to beat to see an ending (idk if that's present, I've got around 200 on the first run)
yeah im guessing that the controls are really hard to grasp for some people, but when you understand them the levels shouldnt be impossible. I tried to make the score to beat pretty low, i havent had anyone saying that it is hard so im guessing it is ok:D
Its nice to hear that someone actually finished it and saw the ending, ty for the review:)
Ridiculous (in a good way) intro :p.
Game could really use checkpoints, as the controls aren't all that tight, and it was hard for me to get repetable results - got to the middle of the first level a few times, but re-doing the inital path and failing really sucked the fun out of it quick.
I liked the music, could use a few sound effects.
It was fun (and funny), well done!
I updated the main page with some instructions on how to cheese the first level easily
Yeah the controls are supposed to have that endless acceleration to them because it works on other levels (kinda). Forcing the player to do high precision jumps at the very start when the controls are unclear was just a stupid idea... I think next jam i should ask for feedback during the development / work in a team because i suck at thinking on how actual players see my game, its pretty damn easy for me to know how to beat everything cuz i made it all:D But ty for the review:)
I think a way to start bouncing once landed could have really helped! A fun idea but i could get past half of the first level..
I designed the levels so that i dont find it too easy, but thats not a good way to design levels when im 10x better at my own game than others... The order of the levels was very much out there until the very end, only that particular level was about mostly bouncing, its just pretty bad level design:D I think there would have been better options for the first level, most notably one where theres no gaps at all, all you had to do was slide forward at high speeds and dodge pillars. Idk if i should make a short video once the jam ends that shows how i expected the game to be played :p
Made it to "back and forth" walls and was disapointed that there was no checkpoint. Then I quit :(
I feel like game started off too difficult but then again I didn't see any other stage even though I woulld love to.
Also when returning to game it doesn't seem like I can skip intro.
skipping only works in the desktop version once you have seen the cutscene once, its a bit bad design now that i think about it:D
If you find the back and forth walls too difficult, you can just bounce higher and higher on the first jump pad by always holding space when moving downwards, then you can just fly over the entire stage. I was going to implement a cheat so that you could skip the hard levels if you want but didnt have time, id say that the third and fifth levels are easier than the first one. I think the levels felt easy to me cuz i know exactly how the mechanics work because i made them :p
edit: omg, i deleted the code for saving values and skipping the cutscene cuz i thought it wouldnt work in webgl, turns out it would have...
Cool game! But I'm awful at it haha. I tried to play on a notebook without a mouse, and I guess it is harder without setting the right point of view.
nice game.
I'm not sure if I'm doing something wrong but after the game tells me that I need to beat them at their own game so they set me free... I see the mouse curser and that is it. I can't do anything. The year is doing its thing but there is nothing else. ??
There should be a "Continue" button that fades in after that in the bottom middle, after which the cursor is unlocked, is it not visible? are you playing on fullscreen 1920x1080 resolution?
Hey so my screen resolution is 2560X1080. I still don't see the Continue bar. The good thing is, now that I can't play the game, I REALLLLLY WANT TOOOOOOOOO!!!!! lol I'm going to keep trying. I'll try a different computer in the house and see if that makes a difference.
yeah tested your resolution in the editor and it doesnt show, i didnt have time to test with other resolutions, sorry! I dont think theres an easy way to get the current build to work on a monitor of that size
Great news I was able to get it to work on a different monitor. I played for about 15 minutes before I was finally able to get to the second yellow platform where I thought I had one but turns out that there was a giant hole. I saw there was a sign there but everything happened so fast so I did not know what the sign said. After looking at your screen shots I believe the sign is telling me to bounce back and forth on the wallssss. soo hard lol but I enjoyed being able to finally play your game. Great job getting it complete and submitted!!!
initially its not my kinda game and i ragequit too easy at this type of game loool
then i went and i at least beat level 1 and tried the hedgehogs level quite a bit til i did ragequit xD
it has a cool presentation and once i got more the hang of it the ball was pretty cool.
this kinda game is well to have a instant reset button.. cause like i thiink the way to beat hedgehogs was to go really fast and steer quick but i botch it alot and the delay of me having to reset it causes ragequit feelings.
(oh u did me from 10, okay i like that i know mine was rushjob lols) .. this is from 5 stars
3 not my kinda game and it could be better .. oh itd be cool if the ball felt more like a ball but thats kinda polish stretch goal stuff i guess..could have instant reset.. could be skyrim >,> lols
4 the story sets up you gotta play to escape decent presentation setup
2 graphics bare bones but its decent its not the worst .. uh ill guess ill force myself to be less generous and say 2.. uh 1 cause its like colored primitives in bare world... nah u get 2 cause there was a cutscene (its hard for me not to say 3 lols)
4 music is awesome cool pick.. ball could make like boingy noises maybe .. i upped it to 4 cause i remember u made a presentation the screaming was funny
omgg, it has an instant reset (r), but i forgot to write it anywhere xD
yeah i agree that the graphics were terrible, but im glad you liked the cutscene, that was what i had the most fun making!
Hey very nice game! I made it bouncy land in 27.91 haha (i bounced a lot in the start and just made the whole level in one jump, cool strat)
I also liked a lot to play the speedster dream, and i see lots of speedrun potential.
Nice submission!
yeah a lot of the levels have kinda bouncy skips, i actually was originally planning on making the entire game be just those bouncy skips but it would just be stupid lol
I like that you made a mini story and intro, the gameplay feels waaay to floaty and it feels like you are skating in ice making it hard to control, but i like the charm of the game and the idea
Loved the intro <3
Controlling the ball in mid-air is impossible though.
Check out my game :D
I probably should have made the game so that you can get used to how the ball moves on the ground before having to parkour:p
wasd and space just add a constant force onto the ball, on the ground the ball is slowed by friction but in the air it will only slow down if you move into the opposite direction
Did you make it past even the first level? Perhaps i should have made it a bit easier lol
No I didn't. But I noticed that you can get way TOO much height by just bouncing in one spot.
yeah it seems like the best method to get the best score for that level is to just bounce in one spot, the other levels dont have any bouncy spots so its not a big issue:D
I tried to make the required total time low, sorry if its too much:D
