wow! very good! very polished, just no sound and the movement a bit rough but incredible entry!
Thank you so much! and yep hah those are the two top priorities for a post-jam version! Glad you liked it and thanks for playing!
The game was fun, and does look good. But i got confused when the player moved on WASD, because in the help page, it said ZQSD to move
Hmm, I'll have to look into that! I must have made a mistake while writing it, I use a AZERTY keyboard so ZQSD is the default for me but its supposed to work with WASD too so it should have worked, thanks for bringing this up to my attention!
Took some getting used to with the controls but really cool once I did. Love the visuals and vibe!
Thank you!
This is so cool, and I am so bad at it lmao
Thanks a lot! I think once I fix up a bit the inputs, it should be much easier!
I really liked it, the controls feel a bit sluggish from the perspective of a platformer. But it gives jump kimg vibes how you have to hold the button to jump, and actually feels not bad after a couple of minutes.
I reached the boss, the right head attacked me and i disappeared, after that i couldnt do anything, i dont know if i was stuck to the ground or something (the camera moved a bit down) but game was pretty fun
Dammit, I'll have to look into that bug ! the boss seems to have quite a few issues I'll have to work out! thanks for bring that to my attention! and thanks for playing!
I liked the level design very much: how from simple and maybe a little sluggish controls you squeezed every opportunity to get player to try every combination of jump and crouch at some places. And I even didn't get stuck once!
Visuals are top too!
Thanks a lot! I think if i manage to upgrade the controls a bit after the jam it will feel much better to play!
Cool visual style. Looks like you put jump on the release of the button which felt odd. Also couldn't figure out how to defeat the enemies?
Most enemies required hitting them a few times with spacebar, for the boss at the end you have to bait its hand to come down, and hit them until the heads drop. Once the heads are down you can hit them to defeat it!
Jumping delay issue aside, that was an outstanding lil game. Simple but deep graphics and uniquely foreboding colors. Cool enemies that feel strong, but not too difficult to beat (for people like me with lame reflexes). Love it!
thnaks you very much!
Very cool entry overall!
The graphics are amazing, and everything fits together very coherently.
I really liked all the little effects, like the camera shake when the boss hits you and stuff like that or the light getting brighter as you reach the exit. It makes the game feel really polished and professional.
The lack of sounds or music is very unfortunate though, I feel like it holds the game back a lot.
In terms of feedback:
In terms of game feel, I feel like the jumping feels a bit sluggish. You get used to it, but it feels like there's a small delay in between you pressing the button and Dante jumping. Same goes for the attack: it feels like you can attack much much faster than the animation shows you. At first I was fighting with the animation, and then realized I could spam the attack button much faster and everything became a bit easier.
At some points you require the player to dodge and then jump in a combination that can feel a bit finnicky at times, but I thought it was a cool gameplay idea!
Very solid game overall, keep up the great work!
Thanks for all the precious feedback ! I'll be sure to take note of all of this for the upgraded version after the jam! For now the priority is fixing the delay in the attacks and jump that throw a lot of people off, and then music and sounds are next!
Nice game!
Jumping was weird but consistent enough to get used to.
Boss fight was a bit hard to understand but I beat it at the end. one of the first things I did was jump on the boss head and hit for 100+ times with no effect. Number after every hit kept growing so it felt like I'm doing the right thing.
Sadly, not really! I missed a part so the combos kept increasing even when the enemies didn't take damage so that made it pretty confusing... The heads were only possible to damage once they were lowered!
Bro art is too good, but jump has some delay.
Thank you very much!! I'll do my best to fix the jump after the jam is over
Great entry!
The art style and the color palette was really fitting with the whole game.
My only complant was that the jump had some delay
Thanks! and yeah the jump delay has been an issue for quite a few people sadly :')
Nice aesthetics. The world looks really big to me and I can choose any path to go. I like this
Thanks! I might have made it a bit too big for some people, but I'm glad you liked it!
Really love how you have achieved such interesting looking background with just cubes. More than just the fact it's pixel art. It has a good minimalistic vibe to it
I love the variety of enemies and how they look. The UI is really polished as well.
One complain I have is the delay in jumping. I had to get used to it and it stopped being a problem. But feels like a bug.
I would play it again later to finish it. Already died thrice : (
Thank you for the kind words! Yeah sadly the delay in jumps isn't voluntary, I'll do my best to fix it asap !
Cool game! I really like the art and the variety of enemies and souls to collect! Good job :D
Thank you very much!
very nice artstyle, everything fits together :)
thank you very much!
Played it and enjoyed it! Nice platformer! A bit of delay in the jump and attack actions, and I personally like to customize the controls in this genre. But after all, I liked it pretty much, and really appreciate the art and the fact that you went full solo on this! Balls!
Cheers!
Thank you very much! I'll try and implement customizable controls in the post-jam version for sure!
the game was super fun!
it would it be even better with sounds effects that give you some hints when you hit the enemies
I was clueless with the final boss at first but then i tried a different tactic
really good job!
Thank you! Yes the boss isn't very clear and has a lot of flaws and possible bugs so it definitely needs improvements, same goes for the sounds! thanks for playing !
Very nice!
Very nice!
thanks!
