I share the sentiment with the other comments. I also wanted to report this bug that makes you stuck:

The cat continued pressing its button but couldn't free the toy from the mechanism...

Love the theme, art and idea, i feel like if the cat had a bigger cooldown it would feel better, but also a better level dessign at the very beggining  making it easier (its really hard) to get out of the first part, would make it  a lot less frustrating

Developer

Yeah, you are completely right! We plan to add some real level design for the time the jam is over. Thanks for your comment!

The idea of stopping momentum was unique but very annoying, took the flow out of the game, The art style was really pretty tho and I loved the music. The only game so far with a cat, So that a big plus.

Developer

Thanks for your appreciation for the art! It seems like the momentum thing is quite a problem in its current state... At least we have a cat haha

I agree with a lot of the other comments. The cat ruins the flow of an otherwise enjoyable game. Maybe if rather than being on that couple second timer, the loss of momentum could be caused by tripping lasers, or hitting certain obstacles.

Developer

Hmm, nice input. We should have added some utility to the momentum thing aswell, like making it a tool if the player was skillfull enough.

Didn't managed to finish the game, player for about 10 minutes until I "got out", but I actually went out of bounds and the game reseted hahaha.

First, loved the theme and aesthetics. The music + background  "ethereal" feel was really nice, and overall I think I only played this much because the game was really chill (and I actually loved the motivational messages every time the game freezes).

Gameplay-wise I didn't enjoyed the gimmick cat mechanic of freezing and removing your momentum. The pinball-esque gameplay itself was a bit chaotic already (because of the level sharp edges and weird angles), so removing the momentum every now and then just felt a bit like an artificial challenge that also removed my agency on the game. Most of the time I spent on the bottom of the level, trying to get one lucky shot all the way up so I could have a chance at not losing my momentum all the way down again.

I'm not particular 100% against the mechanic though. I do think the level didn't contribute at all (at least in the beginning) to make me use this mechanic strategically (e.g. launching the ball in a specific spot, timing with the cat, so it falls on the right place). If you ever wish to keep developing the game (I hope you would!), my suggestion would be to recreate the level to make better use of the mechanic, like exploring more horizontal movement (so you have opportunities to time the ball so it falls in the places you want).

Good take on the Foddian theme and good entry!

We really appreciate you dedicated some of your time on writting such a positive comment.

Yes, we cant but agree that the freezing thing needs to be more of a mechanic and less of a annoyance. We could use some good level design and explore some vertical ideas... On top of that, you are not the only to get stuck at the bottom. We got that problem as well X).

We should have been more aware of these problems, but we still are happy with result.

Thanks again for your comment!

The core gameplay is very fun, but the cat stopping your momentum, while a unique idea, ruins it for me. I know it is not random and on a fixed loop, but it just feels very unfair still, a good foddian game makes you blame yourself, not the game.

Developer

Yep, the cat is a problem. Your statement about foddian games seems so true, now that we have been through this jam...

Thanks for your input!

Note that I didn't actually manage to complete the game but I did play for a solid 10-15 minutes so take my comment with a grain of salt.

Firstly, I really love the concept and the control scheme; I'm a huge fan of these "one-button games" and I never would've thought to apply it to a foddian game so definitely good work there

However, I wonder if the game would've been better without the mechanic of the cat forcibly stopping your momentum every few seconds. It felt more annoying than challenging in a good way and I thought the extra timing aspect the mechanic introduced was unnecessary as the controls are already purely timing-based.

The idea of the game is extremely clever, I just would've changed a couple things in the execution. Overall though, this is still definitely a solid entry and super impressive given the time limit!

Developer

Thanks for your kind words! We definetely should have put more thought on the cat mechanic thing :/ It should be funny and challenging, not just annoying XD

Well, thanks again for playing the game!

I love the art in this game and the added streamer mode is a pretty cool addition. However I found the light bulb thing very annoying with how it would pause the entire game.

Developer(+1)

You are not the only one to think that way, and you are completely right. It needs a fix! haha

Thanks for playing :D
