This was a little beyond my abilities to complete (some wall jumps over obstacles in levels 3 and 5 defeated me :D ), but I appreciated the level design, presentation, and writing a lot.
Hope you had a positive experience using Godot, and thanks for doing a Linux build. Always nice to see sources published too! Nice work!
This is awesome! The bloom works really well with the dreamy look, and you really succeded in using those particles. ALSO MUSIC IS FRIGGIN INCREDIBLE. Feedback:
Controls are a bit too quick and it sometimes gets hard to control
aah thank you for the detailed feedback!! very excited to know that you're speedrunning now >:D speaking of which - we made it to speedrun.com! haha. https://www.speedrun.com/sunset-shaped so now you can be a True Speedrunner :)
Very nice and cozy feeling. Playing felt great and music was soothing. Congratulations. Also one minor suggestion. The character appears jittery when moving. I found a way to fix it by forcing the game fps to 60 which is the default physics fps. Also the character movement was handled in _physics_process() in my case. This might be a solution to the jitter. Great job with the game!
Have you also tried using the same value for Project Settings->Debug->Settings->Force Fps and Project Settings->Physics->Common->Physics Fps? For example 60 for both of them. When I change one of them the movement jitter appears but when they are the same, it is buttery smooth. If you haven't tried this, maybe give it a go.
That was really fun! It controlled really smoothly, and even when I made mistakes, it felt like I had good control over why they happened. Nice music too!
A very polished game for a jam with a bunch of positives:
Lots of great use of particle effects, I especially liked the background (very moody).
Mechanics felt good, I felt like I had good control over the character.
Music was great.
The lighting around the character was cool. In general just a lot of great visual juice.
As others have said it's got quite the difficulty curve and I got stuck right around the "How did you get up here?" section but I managed to get through. That being said, progression is challenging to get right in a jam.
Cute game with a responsive command. I really like the esthetic and the music. But I got stock at level 3 (before seing there is a walkthourgh to help me). Good job !
thank you!! i'm curious: did you end up managing to beat the game?
so many people are getting stuck at level 3, i'm planning to make a patch to shave a block off so people can get stuck at the actually difficult bits :p
Nope I wasn't able, I was stuck at the wall jump with the damage zone. I try multiple strategie but it seemed a little bit to much "pixel perfect" if you get what I mean

thank you!! i thought i used physics_process in the game, but now that i think of it i might've forgotten to O.O thanks for pointing that out!
edit: checked the code and i did use physics_process haha

Nice game :) Wall jumps over lava are quite hard, but got to the end

My best time is 3:33. I just get stuck on that last level haha
oh NICE! if you get under 3min you can go onto the leaderboard too 👀
I quite enjoyed this platformer- more impressive than my own after a year with Godot. I loved the visuals
And I've never had a game grovel before.
aah, thank you!
Difficulty curve a bit wrinkly but very good anyways
