I'm not sure what to do, the sorting number thing seems random but I think I just don't get it? I really like the concept but can't make any money.

Developer

You are supposed to click the left or right based on if the number in the middle is even or odd. I probably should have added a tutorial given how many people have gotten confused TT

interesting game. I wouldn't have thought of a game that revolved around these mechanics together.

I ended up a bit confused pretty frequently. a tutorial could have been helpful but it's still got a fun vibe and a neat peculiar gameplay (:

my rating: 3 liminal spaces out of 3

You're definitely not alone in getting confused, unfortunately. I realize now that some tutorial or more obvious user interface would have helped a lot. Some of my friends that I got to watch play in person took quite a while how to first exit the computer, and then later navigate to the kitchen side.

This was an extremely creative game, it took me some time to figure it out, but I really liked the "hand-drawn" art style.  I would suggest changing the UI to greyscale like the rest of the game.  The attention to certain details was fun too, like the minimizing and expanding of the windows, or the fact that when you click on the icon it shows up on the bottom bar. Good job!

Developer

Thank you! I definitely spent the most time trying to get the windows and layering to work. I was a little distraught about the UI, because I struggled to make it clear enough without color. I'll probably have to go back and spend more time on those sprites.

Wasn't sure what I was expecting but I like the gimmick of using a desktop and doing different things! Unfortunately I didn't find the actual minigames or the platformer game very fun, and I didn't want to grind all the money to get to level 4.

I really enjoyed the sounds effects! (The knock scared me cus it sounded so real lmao). Overall it was a fun game but it also shows the reality that nothing is free and it was a cool concept having to work to buy the game. The cat was also really cute :))

This was really just great! So creative!

I don't know if it was intentional, but the first time I played this, the play button wasn't available, only the shop button (which is hilariously fitting)

I don't want to ruin the secret to beating levels 3 and 4, but I will say once you figure it out . . . it's another thing that's both hilarious and fitting for this kind of game.

Creating a functional and relatively bug-free computer/desktop simulation in flowlab is an awesome achievement, so great job there. The UI and art design fit together cohesively and the hand-drawn style is also really cool.

Lastly, I just wanted to mention that I don't believe I've ever encountered another flowlab game that's made me question whether I actually know the difference between even and odd numbers (nor have found one that makes me so glad I don't have a desk job, haha).

P.S. This better have (paid) DLC after the jam...

Yes, the play button was intentional! It's what the first upgrade does, unlocks the play button; it was supposed to be a kind of subversion of expectation, with the first step to playing a game being locked behind a paywall.

Thank you for the feedback!
