I love it, absolutely love it.

It was funny and didn't take itself seriously, but the models look amazing, the characters had some personality to them, the gameplay was fun.

Only thing I can criticise is in the 2nd and 3rd level there were very long periods with nothing to shoot at.

Also I hate you for the super secret xD

Honestly this surprised me a lot. Then it didn't... Then it did again...  and so on so on.
Quite the emotional roller coaster tbh. The intro is truly scuffed and although I thought it was pretty funny it gave me the impression I should have very low expectations for the rest of the game... So I mean that might have even been a pro play considering it meant I was all the more surprised by how well put together the first level was then the somewhat comedic genius of the script writing and the tokyo drift music together. It was appreciated greatly that I could fast forward the beginning credits.
It would benefit from being a little harder in some areas and more forgiving in other areas. In the first level you shouldn't be sent right back to the start for hitting one asteroid but as I have seen from your other replies this wasn't by design and therefore isn't my biggest criticism. My biggest criticism is that  level 2 and 3 are easy... way too easy...
The game has a really strong start with its models and level 1 design but then it's carried by the characters interactions with each other throughout level 2 and 3. As is also mentioned if this were a commercial project you'd want to make sure the music is copyright free but to be fair I don't know, ... maybe you did check... maybe it is copyright free???

Any which way you slice it... Despite the game not taking itself very seriously, it still provided an enjoyable experience... An experience that's in a big way unforgettable which is very hard to argue is a bad thing.

Nice work guys

Loved the star wars spin off. I thought it was quite funny. Laptop controls didn't work very well and would have appreciated keyboard controls. I thought gameplay was a little lacking and a health bar would have been appreciated as I didn't realise I even took damage until it restarted. Projectile range felt short but that could have been my aim tbh

Developer

Excuse me I think you mean StarTrak spinoff aha. But yea we didn't really have laptop controls in mind since most games nowadays can't really be played easily on a laptop wihout a mouse. And yea we had plans to implement a health bar but the person making our combat script never came through so one of our other programmers had to quickly piece togeher the shooting and combat system instead

IGN 10/10 . I love the art style here. The objects all fit together very well and make it immersive. Also the addition of being able to shoot out the meteors in your path was a cool concept. Also lots of good memes.

Developer

Really glad you enjoyed it. We just thought why not make a game that looks as good as we can make it while simultaneously being as intentionally stupid as possible aha

Very interesting game. I like the trailer and the fact that the characters talked to each other. Very smooth gameplay, However, also very boring. I spent most of the game not doing anything as there was nothing to do. The humor was nice but the game itself really felt bland.

Meme game of the year.
I liked the way that there was the 2 people chatting to each other as it was different from everything else but I felt that it was way too easy and I basically didn't touch WASD the whole time I was playing. When I did use the WASD it felt responsive but the ship didn't tilt very much. I really like the laser as it was accurate and easy to tell where I was aiming which a lot of the other games struggled to make the guns feel as nice.

The sound FX were very good but I feel as though you should have used your own music or royalty free music not licenced music.

Fun concept and well made, and looks great!

The intro was a nice touch and I really enjoyed the 2d art in the dialogue boxes.

My only main issue was that the game moved very slow and was very easy, especially on level 2, you're mostly sitting there doing nothing for most of the level. A speed boost during the deja vu section would be super welcome I think.

The other thing is the amount of licensed stuff used, like the music and death star model, as well as the Gorillaz scenes in the video.

Overall, especially considering the time spent on it, a pretty polished product, just needs some more interesting level design to use the tools more effectively.

with the music we decided we were willing to risk a copyright lawsuit for using a few songs for a uni itch game.

Developer

Thanks for the comment. We did have plans to make it speed up at the dejavu part but I won't lie we were still awake at 7am and were too tired to bother implementing it aha. And we were unsure on whether we should have used that music or not. I'm assuming by Gorillaz scenes you mean the character dialogs? If so then I can confirm those aren't gorillaz, they were original designs created by one of our artists. But thank you, it means a lot :)

I think i would have been happy if the intro ended and that just was the game. I was amused. That being said the game play was cool and the character interaction UI was a nice touch. Overall had a lot of fun playing even if you definitely getting sued now.

Fingers crossed we avoid legal repercussions aha

Great game. The ships, asteroids, and the 'not death star' where all well designed and modeled with great particle effects, the levels were all unique and interesting in their own ways, and the art was amazing (though i'm not sure where the purple robot from the cover art fits in but that could just be me). The comedy from both the in game interactions and the general premise where very amusing, and the music was good (Deja vu was an excellent choice).

If i had to nitpick I would say there are a couple issues with combat, primarily that it was a bit too easy (could use more enemies). Adding to this, the ship which felt a little slow, making the combat even easier and making it so it didn't match the intense energy of the music.

There was also a glitch that made it say you win when you die but ultimately these are all minor flaws that could be easily fixed, and they don't take away from my enjoyment of the game

The mouse is still in the movie at the beginning! - Something like this would be possible to make in Unity without the use of the movie, using worldspace UI, which will allow for a higher resolution intro video, but good comedy!

The game does feel extremely slow, not as in it runs slow, but I feel like there could've been more exaggeration on the speed, less enemies, but much more speed.

I think you should also watch what you use for the music as well, you need to be very careful of copyright, for every instance of music in the game, if you were to develop this further, please take note of this as it can get you in a lot of legal trouble!

Great job on the models and particles! love them!

Developer

We left the mouse in on purpose because we thought that having it there combined with the purposely terrible start music just made it funnier. To achieve the immense scale of some things that we wanted it meant tht we had to make the levels larger in size which meant that even though the ship was made to move significantly faster, it wasn't entirely noticeable. And yea we know but we weren't too fussed about that cos this game was only for an assignment and we don't really have any intentions of making it further

So this was absolutely amazing to play, the comedy and style had me smiling through the entire game. The addition of characters talking an even directly affecting the game is brilliant.

The only downside really is it feels a bit easy. Just needs something like an enemy that can shoot you.

Developer

that was the original plan but because the person in charge of shooting didnt do it we instead went for suicide rammers to make sure the game was finished
