Amazing Game!

Really loved that there was so many different game modes, I only managed to play 2 with the time I had but I'll definitely be coming back to play it again!

I loved the jump scares and shooting the zombies, it was fun, halloweeny.

The only improvements I'd make is to focus down on each gamemode and try to polish each one out but with the time you had you did a great job! I think one last comment is I didn't really see the theme incorporated unless I missed it but overall a great experience!

Thanks for playing the game and for co-hosting the jam.  It was a lot of fun making the games.

I was originally going to make all of the environments very dark to keep with the theme of afraid of the dark.  The only one that really made it was the first one but even that I lightened it up a bit to make it a little easier - so ya - I kind of missed the theme a little.  But I tried to keep it kind of Halloweeny.

I am trying to figure out the focus of game play in my projects and that is a BIG thing I am working on.  Until that happens my real goal is to try to entertain you all and listen to feedback which is very appreciated.

FYI I have posted an update based on some feedback in the reviews and plan on posting some additions to the game including a true story line to incorporate all of the items together.

Thanks for playing.

Another great example of people putting together so much in such a little amount of time!

What I Liked:

  • The variety in the options for speed, snap turn, ect. were great to have! Accessibility in VR can be game breaking and I appreciate all the options put in here.
  • So much variety in gameplay! Three whole games in one is really impressive.
  • Audio design was nice for the monsters.
  • I loved the jump scare of the trick or treat doors.
  • The grenade launcher was fun and hilarious!

Some Notes:

  • The scope may have been a bit too big. It's impressive that you were able to put together so much, I think the overall experience could have been improved if you focused on one direction.
  • Due to so many mechanics added into the game, there would be times that my speed would greatly increase and cause some motion sickness.
  • The game with the monsters and keys, the monsters seemed immune to any damage when shot.

This has a ton going on, which made it very engaging! It's a great submission! Thank you for your hard work!

Thanks for playing the game - and for co-hosting the jam!  I appreciate your comments.  I really enjoy making VR environments and try to focus on emergence and Quest performance but my game play really suffers.  As this was my second game jam I will adjust and fine a better balance (my first game jam earlier this last summer I made my game far too complicated and long - this one maybe a little too simplistic).

The third game was a little extra thing I added the last day - probably should have kept it out as it didn't add much and as you noticed didn't have complete NPC mechanics.

I have posted an update that fixed the snap logic, NPC AI and allows the NPCs more kill options.  Likely I will merge all three of these games into a single game flow down the road.  Again, thank you for your comments.  These comments and feedback is my goal here.

I couldn't get the game to work for me on my Index. The controllers weren't visible or taking input it seems. As such I couldn't close the initial menu or move around at all.

Developer

Sorry about that.  I only have a Quest 2 to work against so that is where I targeted the game.  I will try to figure out a method to test against the Index and if successful I will provide an update.  Thank you for trying though.  The effort is appreciated.

Love the variety! Great work!

Thanks.  It was a lot of fun making.

Quite an achievement to make 3 separate games in the time - great stuff!

It looked great, however, there wasn't much of a challenge throughout the games - it was nice to run through them. As kokutouchichi says, might have been best to stick with one experience and make it fully playable then move on to more if time allows.

Still, good solid entry - I enjoyed it :)

Thanks for checking out the game(s) and the comments.  My first game jam I made my game WAY to complicated so I tried to make a much simpler quick to play game.  Next time I will focus more of difficulty settings and as you pointed out if time allows additional "levels" instead of different games to chose.  I really appreciate the feedback from you and everyone.  Thank you!  BTW your game was truly amazing.  Lots of fun.

I wasn't sure what the goal was but I did shoot grenades out of my gigantic gun. The ai never chased me or headed in my direction which kind of took the challenge out of the experience. You made 3 games which is crazy! My suggestion would be to stick to one and polish up that game loop and experience, 7 days isn't a lot of time!

Developer

Thanks for playing. I was trying to make more simpler game play like simply hunt as many zombies as possible with a time limit or open random doors for trick or treats.  Perhaps better instructions would help. I can add AI logic next time.  Thanks for the suggestions.  I hope you enjoyed the gigantic gun. Big guns are always fun when hunting zombies.

It's impressive that you were able to develop three games in such a short time. Great job! 👏🏻

The first two games ran pretty well. I have a small question about the third level. The crossbow didn't shoot because it was out of arrows. Are there some arrows to collect throughout the level? 🤔

Developer(+1)

Thanks for playing the games. The NPC logic was new to me so that kind of is where I spent my time.  Environments I can kick out pretty quickly, only takes a few hours. The rest I have had prototypes from previous projects. I think I will post a dev log in the icho.io page in case anyone is interested in my process.

The third game was intended to be a maze game but I ran out of time. I kept it in because the structure was complete and kind of fun but I didn't get the game play all worked out. I provided an update that fixed the weapons in the third game and the snap rotation. The crossbow now has 1000 arrows and the hand cannon has 6 grenades.

It was a lot of fun to make. Thanks for the review.

Wow, three distinct experiences with a lobby? That's quite an accomplishment for a jam game! My main and really significant issue is that the snap turn setting (which is great in the lobby), doesn't stay in effect when I enter any of the experiences, so really I'm stuck with smooth turn, which makes me nauseous almost instantly. I did play all three experiences, but I got sick on the third one and had to quit. I found a key and didn't know what to do with it. I had weapons that wouldn't shoot on that one. I wish I could shoot the bats (they are pretty big targets after all) and I wish I could step on or even ride the spiders, lol.

Thanks for playing. So sorry for the snap turn bug in the games. I tested it out in the lobby but missed testing it in the games.  Victim of the 7 day horror. My original prototype allowed the bat's to be shot at. I should have kept that in. I can can make an update later this week for both of these issues.

Thanks for playing the games

I have uploaded a fixed version - v1.01 - that keeps the snap turn option set for each of the games.  I am very sorry for the unpleasant gaming experience.  I hope this helps.  Thank you.

Oh ya, when I developed this I had a FPV controller setup and the spiders would push the FPV controller around and the player could jump onto the spiders - couldn't ride them thought - that would have been cool.
