Ok, I see many people have played it successfully, so I suppose the problem is somewhere in me but I can't pick any of the boxes. Clicking works when click on the Start button, moving around works and for some reason clicking on the boxes does nothing. Tried both web and pc builds.
Thats a shame. What system and browsers?
I can't really fathom why that would be.
Windows 10 x64bit and Google Chrome.
This was really good! It was so creepy. And gross haha. The slow build of tension was really well done. At each point as I found stuff out I got slowly more and more tense.
The mini games were fun! I liked the fishing one a lot actually haha. It was so zen. I wished the explanation of what to do when the targets popped up happened BEFORE the targets popped up (it was a frantic second trying to read it and click haha) but other than that they all worked. I also had some issue with the numbers, just kind of accidentally brute forced it. But I think the issue is the numbers really LOOK like they're placed on the pages in a specific order. my first thought actually ways "Oh chronological order!" and then on the 7? I think? there was a small line of text right next to it and I was convinced it was the 0 and this was a hint that the placement/ spacing of the numbers was the hint not the story words and I stopped reading them and just started testing locations. I hope this detailed insight helps, lol sorry for the essay.
*Spoilers*
I'm a big animal person, I have a small farm and while I don't hunt a lot I'm not against it at all, just do it morally and legally and with integrity. It's a necessary part of a healthy eco system in many places etc etc. And as the main character described stuff in this really subtle way that were just so OFF it was really satisfying to have that paid off in the end with the reveal. The way the MC described being wasteful for example. And the emphasis on trophies instead of food / sustainability etc. And "damage" to the animal as opposed to not letting them suffer. Really well planted small details that told a LOT without saying a lot. The ending was SOO creepy!!! The little figures were gross and weird and sad and !!!! Really cool, good job!
Yeah, I worked hard at trying to hint at things where I could. We also made the hunting section shooting-gallery styled to avoid upsetting people with realistic animals! Thats why they were on sticks!
We have heard ordering the notes was tough. We should have made a lil minigame after collecting all 7 to build the code tbh. Live and learn! Thanks for playing
This was a fun game. Got stuck a bit with the notes, just guessed it at some point, 24 options isn't that much after all. The story was intriguing if a bit rushed at the end, but overall a highly enjoyable experience! I really liked the art, reminiscent of rusty lake and the likes with those textures, but fits well into 3D. Great work!
It seems to be a common point of note that ordering the 4 numbers was hard! I kinda figured it may be, but the order was just intended to be the canonical order of those notes. Which might be tough to construe. Perhaps just faded page numbers would have helped a lot as well lol.
Plenty to consider! And yeah, lots was done towards the last week or so of the jam lol! We actually wanted to do a chase sequence at some point but yknow. Jams and scope
Maybe not numbers but dates? Or simply reformulate the notes so that the timing is more intuitive. At some point i had this “aha” moment, when i thought “Oh this definitely is the order - here is him slowly descending into madness”. And then the order was wrong..
As for the jams and time constraints - yeah, ik. Great work!
I like it, but the puzzle is unsolvable!
(I still haven't figured it out) So unfortunately, I didn't finish the game :(
I really like the mix of 2d and 3d. Good job!
I had wondered how obvious the canonical order of the notes was and if it'd be hard to piece together the 4 numbers on 4/7 of the sheets. Good feedback to consider! Thanks for playing!
Good game. The story is interesting and the mini games are fun. I think the mixing of 2D and 3D doesn’t look very good, but everything else is done well. Good job!
I personally don’t see it for all of the 2d scenes, but I do happen to agree that the switch in the downstairs cabinet scene is quite jarring. Thanks for the feedback and for playing
This game was a lot of fun! The minigames were interesting, and the story that unfolded had me hooked! Also, I loved Greg. <3
The game is intriguing! We got stuck at the code entry part, and it seems there's a bug — one of the digits isn't visible (it's at the bottom, outside the screen's frame). Don’t ask how, but my friend managed to guess the password, so tomorrow we'll finish the game and find out how this truly scary story ends.
Truly a riveting tale we tried to tell. Yes my other friend pointed that out to me on testing and I had patched it. Im pretty new to Unity's HTML UI system, so something wasnt properly scaling to size. Should be fixed as of now.
One more thing I'd like to point out: the interesting approach to building tension from 'room to room.' Also, the apartment itself felt incredibly cozy to us, which contrasts sharply with... other details. By the way! We accidentally figured out what the key is for. I suspect many people will struggle with that. Lucky for us, I was hungry :)
Would recommend playing the desktop version. I've had numerous issues with WebGL that don't exist on the desktop version. Namely lag.
