Can't think of much to say for this, it's a solid and authentic arcade game. Pretty good overall, I like the song and food/drink themed enemies

i very much like the movement and direction lock bit. did not make it very far
uwabami breakers two canon???
also impressively done as always with the genesis build
Very nice! One of my favorite games this jam. I feel that both this game and Sweetdigger have value beyond being just gamejam games, as a way to bridge the generation gap between younger and older shmup players. I've personally become interested in trying out the original arcade games after playing your versions, so you're effectively acting as a kind of cultural ambassador.
About the game itself, I feel that it needs to award score for completing the stages fast even more than Sweetdigger. Since the difficulty is much lower this time around, the lack of a good scoring system severely lowers the replay value for the average player. Furthermore, the sushi-scoring system sometimes encourages the player to stall, so a time bonus would balance that and make optimal play more exciting. Unrelated to scoring, the lag is a bigger issue compared to Sweetdigger, since it makes it difficulty for me to easily change direction of the locked shot angle by just quickly releasing 'b'. Less importantly, the collision between player and lanterns is a bit rough: when I played around with it, I managed to both teleport through a lantern and to clip inside it (which cost me a life), but it was only a minor issue during normal play.
If these issues were fixed, I'd feel comfortable recommending this game to any Touhou fan, not just as a jam game but as a good fan game. Regardless, I'm looking forward to playing more of your games in the future.
Cute game! Aiming is a little hard, and 3 lives doesn't get me very far (just past 2 boss stages), but overall it's very fun to play. The music is awesome too.
I don't think you can actually shoot your drinks to drink them in real life, so this was weird xD.
I love the idea of plug this into a real genesis, but I think the difficulty could be toned down a little, mostly because the song is not that long and listen to it after quite some time is just annoying.
I could get to the level 25 with ease, but after that it was kinda painful, so I cheated, but only for testing reasons (?, but I must say that the uprising difficulty is good enough without the need of highly resistant enemies, or maybe it just needs more shot options, whatever it takes to make this more interesting.
The fact that this is a pefectly playeable Sega-console game is simply admirable, so is perfect in that sense, you have my respects. But as it's played on pc, you can see some issues, mainly related to the frame rate regarding to the elements on screen, as they began to increase it slows down, boss fights are quite obvious on that matter, since it kinda feels like cheating as the game slows itself down.
THOSE DAMN CUCUMBERS.
Gotta love that genesis music. The drink health visualization was a nice touch.
