Nice game there! I like the game mechanics and the graphics. One thing that I realized after playing it for a while is that you don't have to clear all black stuff to advance to the next level. Dunno if this is intentional or not.
I streamed the game here around minute 41 if anyone wants to watch:
IT GO HARD
the single simple attack is very weighty and nice to use
since i have played sonic before i was not able to be killed before picking up the broom after getting hit
lot of super nice pixeling going on here
yeah
I love the music and art style of the game! Probably one of the most solid entries presentation-wise.
The gameplay loop is good but does need just a bit more work to make it more engaging and fun. But for 3 days it's an impressive effort!
Fun game play! Simple but exciting battles! I wish there were more stages!
I'm very excited to see a game with Kyouko that actually features her day job. The visuals and audio are great, too.
The game itself is nice and easy to pick-up. However, when the fun doesn't come from mastering the controls, it needs to come from somewhere else. Unfortunately, the enemy spirits don't do much and they also take an unsatisfying amount of hits to kill (although once you've figured the game out, it doesn't give you much reason to actually kill them). Suika's fight is similarly polished but not very interesting. Both regular enemies and Suika could use less health and some projectile attacks. The broom should probably travel longer when knocked out of Kyouko's hands to make it non-trivial to just pick it up again.
I guess I'm just listing things the developers are probably already aware of. More interesting feedback might be that I never got lost or felt like I didn't know what to do. I'd guess my experience with the game was almost exactly as the developers would have predicted.
Also, here is a screenshot showing a minor bug with the z-index for rocks and trees:
I lost it when I finally encountered the myth, the legend, the Japanese Goblin herself, Suika; I knew that I had to beat the drunk goblin out of her with my broomstick!
Gameplay's great and smooth, and the attacks feel responsive.
The only issue is that some decorations such as the trees don't align well with the player in terms of their z index/axis, but overall it is a well experience.
The music was jammin. I wish the levels were a bit longer so I could hear more of it. Graphics were also oustanding.
