Theme

Pinball City

Correlation to theme
A basic city pop beat to give that vibrant night, full of neon lights vibe. However this city has seen better days, since pinball had lost some of its popularity.

love this more laid back approach to the pinball city prompt! Definitely painted a picture in my mind of what your town is like! Nice work

What a groove ! The beat is really good ! I like it very much.

I have a question on the mix. Did you put a low pass filter on the drums ? I feel that it misses the high end, especially on the hihats, cymbals and snare.

Developer

Thanks for listening!

About the mixing, I didn't apply any filter to the drums mostly due to time constraints because I wanted to revisit them. I wish I had paid a bit more attention to it tho, I feel like I've been lacking in the mixing for a while now. But hey feel free to explore and ask me about the song project on beepbox with the link in the soundtrack page!

You did this with beepbox? But it's like drawing with mittens! It's all the more remarkable. I can imagine that you don't have the same mixing tools as on a DAW. Well, you have my utmost respect for making your music sound good with this tool!

Thanks! Actually I use an mod of beepbox called jummbox which adds a lot of features for EQ, including applying filters. It is quite complete but I've yet to delve deep in a real DAW to make it more professional, maybe for the next jam I'll give it a shot.

The song matches the theme very well, it's really easy to imagine walking through the mostly-empty city at midnight. It's also just a really pleasant song to listen to.

I see you as one of the best 'chip-tuny' composers here, and this didn't disappoint :)

Your description matches the song perfectly imo. It feels like a casino- or pinball-like city, but the slow soft vibe with few things going on make it feel like a night-version or a city with few members left. Really nice and different track, lovely!

(also, thanks for including an .mp3 besides the .wav - makes it easier for me to save your work in my personal library :)

Thank you very much, glad I didn't disappoint!

This is groovy! I love that the snares you use have a sound that is reminiscent of a pinball hitting a bumper. This would be a nice city to take a stroll through at night and I would absolutely turn the music up in the game to hear this tune! I like the B section and I think you have more opportunity to expand on this if you wanted to. Overall great work and thank you for sharing!

Thanks for listening! I've planned to include a solo section but couldn't make it in time, plus there are some parts and instruments I wanted to adjust so I might change a lot in this song if I ever go back to expand it.
