Excellent concept, one of the most solid entry of the jam I would say. The main issue I had with the game was that I often clicked out of the game window when trying to shoot beneath me, so as you can guess resulted each time in my death :d
But outside of that, I would just say that we feel a bit too heavy while jumping, but still this is nothing but quibbling from my part. You did a formidable job, and your game is really good for something made in only three hours!
Thank you for playing! When testing I had the same problem of clicking outside the game window, so I enabled the player to make it fullscreen. I forgot, however, to add that into a message in the game page >_<. I may try tweaking the gravity to make the air controls a bit more manageable since other people had that problem too.
Took me a bit to figure out how to play properly but good job, I liked the idea!
Thanks!
Btw I really liked your twist on the theme.
An interesting idea and nice retro graphics! The controls and difficulty level could use some work, but not bad for 3 hours :)
Thank you for playing <3
You have a very nice idea there! Maybe the Dark Souls of the tower climbers (just kidding)!
But seriously, that was challenging! The designs, both game design and visual design, are solid and very well done. As Wuppos mentioned, I've also felt a little bit of inconsistency for how far the shots would push me away and I've also had some trouble for clicking outside the game's window. But these are certainly only """flaws""" caused by the development time limit. Another great entry!
Thanks for the kind words <3.
I'm currently working on making the recoil more consistent for a future build of the game and maybe adding a tutorial to let the players get used to the controls before jumping into action.
About the clicking outside the game's window problem, you can actually make the game fullscreen with Window's title bar. I forgot, however, to add that info to the game's page >_<.
Really cool idea and beautiful art! I liked it a lot. It was a shame you could not quite finish the enemies, but I think it does not subtract from the overall experience :)
I also have a bit of criticism, but dont take it too seriously, because I completely understand you did not have time to finetune everything in only three hours! :D First of all, it felt a bit inconsistent how high my knockback with the gun was. The one time I tried to do a super jump I got really high, whereas other times it really gave just a little push. Is there some mechanic I am missing here? Secondly, there is not a lot of space at the bottom of the screen to click if you want to do a bullet jump. Especially when you are already doing badly, it is only getting harder because it becomes more difficult to do the super jumps again. Maybe you could make the 'death line' be a bit higher than the bottom of the screen, such that there always is some space? But maybe this is just my frustration at being bad at the game speaking :P Last of all there was a little bug where I could get stuck in walls, but that is just a minor thing.
Of course some music and sounds would have been amazing, but I am sure you know this and simply did not have time :) All-in-all a really cool and creative concept, which was executed really well too! The little screenshake when you shoot felt great, and the massive bullets really helped with clarity and the feeling that it is a huge gun you are holding. Great job! Hopefully I was not too critical ^_^
Thanks a lot! The feedback is very well recieved ^_^. I'm currently working on making the recoil more consistent for a future build. The death line problem didn't cross my mind until I read your message, but you are totally right, so I'll try to make it easier to shoot when you are that close to the bottom of the screen.
@MateG_ fantastic game man, visuals, game feel everything was very well executed. Great Job :D
Thank you! I really like your game too <3.
The visuals are fantastic and really well polished! I struggled a bit with the controls which made it quite difficult to play. I will try again though :)
Thank you for playing! I'll try to update the game so the feedback is well recieved <3.
I found it really challenging, but the concept is fun and the style is great. Love retro styled games (I just found the character moving up and down too fast). But you can't have erverything in just 3 hour. ^^
Thank you for the feedback and thank you for playing!
