AWESOME!
The best game so far.
Some of these ideas HAD TO BE MINE!
This game has some really cool mechanics and i had a load of fun playing it. Nice job!
This game is super complex even though the rules are simple (and I mean that as a compliment!). I love how much you got out of this game, and the theme incorporation is superb! It starts off pretty difficult though, so maybe if the enemies were a little slower at the start, players would have an easier time getting into the groove.
Thanks for the feedback, the difficulty is definitely something that needs to be worked on, I will probably balance it once the jam is over. The best strategy at the moment seems to be to run around the outside of the arena in circles
Damn, you ve made a Enter The Gungeon in 3 hours! that was sick dude! congratulations on your project!
Thanks for playing :)
A really cool idea to have your attacks based on the zone you are in.
And then to have the enemies also react to the different zones is even better.
The game is pretty hard, though that's not too much of a problem with the quick turn around time!
I made the game get harder as your score increases, but from what i've heard i should have definitely made it a bit easier at the start
As a nice person once said, “Really nice submission, I liked how the different coloured zones did different things :)” - the quote applies here too!
:D but seriously, I really liked MageZone! For one thing, it has a proper title unlike my submission… and the gameplay loop is very fun, controls are tight, the art style is super neat and audio is top notch too.
It was quite challenging at first (I’m super bad at aiming in fast paced 2D games), but after a couple rouds, strategies started forming in my brain. I’m slightly ashamed to said that even after some practice my best score was:
Thanks for the kind comment, I saw you streamed the development of your game but was too late to watch it. If you stream another jam in the future I will try to catch it :)
I like the emergent gameplay resulting from those "simple" rules you established. Overall solid, although i was able to pretty much cheese it by staying on the sidemost purple squares
I do need to add something to nerf the edge tiles, because running around the outside is definitely the best strategy
Fun game! The Orange spell was especially fun to use, but you had to get enemies nearby to turn them orange as well. Running around the outside and lobbing spells into the center worked pretty well for me, haha. The art, sfx, gameplay all seemed to match well too.
Thanks for playing, I agree running around the outside is a good strategy, I could add some enemies later on that make that strategy harder :)
Great work, the idea with zones that change monsters and the player is smart, liked it
The sounds are also working very well together
As for suggestions:
Thanks for the feedback, its really helpful. I did add some i frames after being hit (0.75 seconds) if i remember right but I should probably make that a little bit longer
Very good! It's very fluid and looks cute! Nicely done
Thanks for your kind words :)
Very good 👍
Glad you enjoyed it!
The game graphics are WOW! Great submission!
Thanks for playing! I can't take full credit for the graphics, the character and enemy sprites are from a pack credited on the game page :D
But you used it in the right way!
Wow, this is incredible work for 3 hours... Loved the variacy in spells and graphics throughout your project and itch.io :) 10/10
Thanks for playing, I'm glad you enjoyed it :D
