Interesting concept, Reminds me of a whack-a-mole game. I fixed the cracks but my door kept breaking. There's no (visual) indicator that the patches still need to be hit. Nice visuals and music.

I really liked the use of audio paired with the visuals (the sounds for the cracks on the door and banging the door feel very crunchy).  Overall good job! :)

Thank you! That was the one feature I had really fleshed out before deciding to just jump in and start. I basically just had to copy it from my notebook. I should do that more next time.

Cool concept for a game but I think that hitting the patches 5 times might be a bit much since there is a cooldown on how often you can hit them, 4 or 3 might be better. Oh and also it was not clear to me that you would need to hit the patches until I read the description a bit more so the Goblin king broke into my house. But you definitely learned a lot so consider it a success =D

Yeah the whole patch thing.. One of those things you as the developer understand but forget that your audience cannot see the code to deduce how it works lol. Lesson learned!

I think I originally wanted less clicks per patch too but once everything was done, the balance wasn't really there. This was just how it ended up before submission. (I also wanted power ups but didn't have time)

I completely understand that, especially with only having 3 hours to make your game. I think that technically it's impossible to fail a game jam as long as you learned new things about making games, but also the restraints can make things challenging to the point to where it feels like you failed even though you made something cool.

I think you did a great job considering you started with so little experience. In particular you scoped it well enough, a game about fixing one door is good scoping. It wasn't clear that patches need to be hit 5 times until I read the comment, so at least one lesson learned is try to make stuff like that clear.

Thank you 🙏 proud of myself for lowering the scope after failing to complete last week's attempt. I actually had more things planned but made sure I did the basic implementation first. Turns out even that was too much lol.

Visual feedback - noted!

After exactly 5 cracks the cracks dont appear anymore, but i can hear them coming xD, had me frantically clicking out in the black background

Developer (1 edit)

Yes I should mention there will only be 5 cracks at most to prevent too many from overlapping since you can click all overlapping at once. It was easier than making sure they didn't overlap lol. Thanks for playing it! 😃 Rest assured there are none in the void haha

P.S. I just realized it isn't clear, but it takes 5 clicks to fully patch a crack. You know it's done when my amazing patch art goes away. c:
