The way you control the petal somewhat indirectly is really interesting.
The art is absolutely lovely, but a little hard to read. Foreground and background branches look quite similar, and the fact that there are other petals is quite confusing. I thought I was saving the last one?
I love that you included difficulty levels, but there didn't seem to be much difference between them. I did just as quickly on "easy" as on "pro-gamer".
The music is beautiful, and the overall theming and aesthetic is incredible.
Thanks for the feeback! We’ll be making some changes people pointed out such as the branches blending in too much and a fix on the levels. Hope you enjoyed the game!
Yeah we enjoy how smooth the velocity ramping is. I think it suits the petal really well.
Yeah the mirage of the Enchanted Forest catches some out but we may have to put a special spell on the foreground to make it a little more accessible ;)
Thats really kind, thank you <3
The art was not good at all..... lol obviously I'm kidding. Very stunning. I feel like the foreground branches didn't stand out enough from the background, but other than that it was really beautiful and fun. I've never played as a petal before!
Thanks for playing!
Amazing art style and music! One of the best visuals I've seen in the game jam thus far, it looks very professional. I also loved the difficulty selection, I felt that it helped us players ease into the game more effectively. Solid work to the team!
Thank you for the feedback, glad you enjoyed it!!
The art style is gorgeous, and the music really suits the vibe!
It was a little hard at times to distinguish the level elements from the background (especially branches), but other than that this is a pretty fun game!
Congrats on your submission!
Yeah we realised the branches were too similar, we’ll be making them more distinguishable after the jam. Thanks for playing!
Stunning art and very good music. It has a very professional feel.
thanks for playing!
Beautiful artwork and sounds. Kinda reminiscent of what vanillware did with Muramasa: The Demon Blade. Maybe a few gameplay tweaks to consider: didn't expect cobwebs to kill me, just slow me down, also It did take me a few seconds to distinguish bad branches from the good ones.. This game did put me on edge, haha, very arcady and fun concept !
We’ll be making the branches pop out more once the jam is over, thanks for playing and the feedback!
very fun game love the movement and the art is really good very well done great job love the idea although i didnt get the on the edge part
As the dragon is chasing you non stop you are constantly on the edge of death, glad you enjoyed it!
Gorgeous game! Like the art style a lot. The whole start screen and menu looked great too. The actual gameplay was fun too and loved the parallaxing.
thanks so much!
so poetic ♥ i love the concept! good job :D
that dragon is gorgeous, too (that's absolutely why i let them reach back to me, it's true i swear)
Haha understandable, thanks a lot! ♥️
Gotta admit, screenshots made me try the game instantly. The art is amazing, with spectacular colors! Music fits the game and gameplay is simple but smooth. I like the difficulty choice, makes noobs like me able to check more of the game!
Thanks a lot bro, glad you like the game <3
Thank you for the feedback, it means a lot to us. We really enjoyed designing the concept and our Wytchy (our graphic artist) did wonders with the art especially in time frame we all worked with.
I wanted to design a calm instrumental but pick up the intensity in game to make it more thrilling.
We love hearing feedback from all the creatives/players and will definitely consider all that was mentioned.
Top tier game of this jam. I wouldn't be surprised to see this being in the top 10 pool at the end of the voting session.
The concept is super simple but very well executed. My only concern is that it's pretty difficult to see the difference between what is an obstacle to your progression and what is part of the background.
Funny you mention the game over should be as polished as the main menu, I actually voted against that so my team mate will be happy to hear you agree. Thank you for the feedback and we'd all be super happy if we got top 10, fingers crossed I guess.
This is an incredibly pretty game and a culmination of skill. I did find that I had a hard time distinguishing the foreground from the background at the start, however I did get used to it and played for a fair bit. Amazing effort
Thank you for the compliments, it goes a long way <3
We found that it took players a few games to adjust to the illusionary visuals. I think it adds to the fun to try to decipher what is an obstacle and what is scenic. All part of Muzags masterplan! We love hearing feedback from all the creatives/players and will definitely consider all that was mentioned.
The art and music of the game are genuinely amazing! Big up for that.
Gameplay wise, I have no idea what's going on :( The screen keeps getting stuck for me to be eaten, its not moving forward. Am I doing something wrong here? **EDIT** ah, I found out it because it's not entirely sure for me which branches are to dodge and which aren't. My own mistake.
Also, Full screen not working.
Thanks so much. We're ecstatic with how the creative elements came out in this project. Seems like people really appreciated the whole thematic. Considering it was my first time making music for a game I'm happy with the results. Our graphic illustrator has worked on one game previously but not anything relative to a side scroller. Nature's Fury
Yeah it appears that people have had to adjust to the illusionary visuals. It definitely takes a while for some to decipher what is an obstacle and what is scenic. All part of Muzags agenda! We may fine tune some aspects of the game after we are done the review period. We definitely love hearing feedback from all the creatives/players.
This game just looks and sounds amazing, really rare seing a game looking this good, especially in a jam! Gameplay wise, I found it pretty difficult to know which branches were part of the background and which were part of the main obstacles.
And this game is brutal, got a highscore of 58 on medium. All and all, fun and great looking game :)
Both the blossoms in the background and the branches were created to add to the difficulty of the game, happy you enjoyed it!
Very cool! I love the aesthetic of the game! The music fits the theme and art perfectly. The gameplay even fits in with the blossom theme.
Any time the dragon was on the screen I couldn't see where my petal was going, making the problem worse as the dragon took over the screen while I bumped into things behind it that I couldn't see. This was made worse anytime I had to move backwards slightly to avoid getting stuck on the branches. The backwards bits as a whole didn't really work well, the petal just often get's caught.
In it's current state you need to drag your mouse off screen to gain full control of the petal, gonna lock the mouse to the screen in the future so you should have more fluid movement when it comes to the petal. The dragon taking over the screen is an intended mechanic to push you to move faster. I am also looking at moving some branches around to make it a small bit easier to move around.
Thank you for the review!
Great music, id listen to it on some low-fi beat stations. Art was gorgeous. Simple yet very fun gameplay, i was worried about getting eaten by that dragon the whole time!
Give mine a shot if you get the chance https://itch.io/jam/vimjam2/rate/1200495
Thanks a lot, we really appreciate it. I hadn't made music for a game before so it was definitely fun to experiment and think of different ideas on how the composition should be laid out. With it being an infinite scroller, I thought a nice ambient loop would be nice to go with the theme of the game. Nothing too overpowering but enough that it kept the player feeling lively.
The game looks visually amazing!
Thank you so much!
Ok this was insanely beautiful, from the main menu to dragon, to the petals, everything was so well designed I am at a loss of words. The music was great as well. I have no idea how someone managed to get to 400 points on the pro gamer difficulty, but I am happy with my 100. I would love to see more games with Medea's art style. Awesome work!
Thank you so much! This was my first time working on a game directly, I'm hoping to create more in the future and experiment with different styles/themes. I've created little characters for a friend's game before if you want to check them out :)
Nature's Fury
The characters on Nature's Fury are pretty unique, but I am even more impressed with how much better your art has become in just 2 months? Is there a place I can follow you ? Instagram, Twitter, YouTube, anything really!
Always improving! I'm only on Instagram at the moment - @w.ytchy. I only have my personal works up right now but will update with game art too
Fun little browser game! Good job getting different difficulties and generated levels. Overall quite liked it!
I found the branches a little hard to see compared to the background - and in some cases, the generated levels on the harder difficulties made an impossible to complete section (ant blocked small path).
Wasn't able to fullscreen which caused some issue keeping the mouse in bounds - however this wasn't a big issue.
Good job pulling this together!
Hey thanks for the review!
The branches being hard to see was to add to the difficulty, didn't realise until today I could have tried locking the mouse to the screen and just increased the petal speed, I'll have to update it after the jam.
Fair enough point on the branches with the difficulty - I got used to it a bit over time. On my list to replay, so you must be doing something good!
Play this game! great browser game with a relaxing art style and music combo, and a bit of intensity on the harder difficulties
