in PAV you need to fight a dark boss entity by going through different plans and dimensions. The artistic universe is also composed by various colours with sharp and heterogeneous shapes.

Love the way the artistic meshes with the mechanics in this game! Like how the different colored zones are artistic shapes rather than something more sterile or game-y like square or circular zones in a symmetrical layout. I was confused about how the zones and minigames activated and worked at first - I thought things just happened at random timings - but after a bit I figured it out. Interesting how you can choose which ability you want on the fly. Love the art - I can't help but think of Cuphead when playing this combination of hand-drawn objects and this style of gameplay and boss attacks. I especially like the black tendril that comes from the side of the screen. I got a kick out of the game's name as a reference to the Java programming language!

What a wonderful looking and unique game. I loved the art, animation, audio and sound design. This was a joy to play. That interactive title screen ... very well done. I jumped right in, but I didn't quite get it. But I wanted to see more, so after reading through the description I immediately got the gameplay loop. I wish that was taught during the gameplay, but hey, it's a jam game! I had the same problem teaching mechanics in mine.

Once I did get it, I had a blast earning the different powerups and taking on the boss. My main critique outside of learning the mechanics is I wish there was more feedback on my health and the boss' health. I want to know when I'm in danger and I want to feel like I'm progressing in taking the boss down. Feedback in some way would be great, even if it's not a traditional healthbar. I also wish I had to choose to enter a power-up mini-game. Sometimes I'd be avoiding an attack and just end up in a mini-game.

Overall, what a wonderful entry. I had a great time with this. Your team should be proud.

This is one of the most unique game I’ve seen. The art and sound combines perfectly with the gameplay, and makes for something really interesting. Great work with this one!

loved the game I like the mechanics and the game idea very creative well done good game!

Yo! The art is fantastic, but also from a technical standpoint i can see some really cool stuff going on here, especially that menu! and I see the 3d sprite rotation there (as opposed to a standard sprite flip)! Really clean and chill game, good job!

wow this was beautiful to look at and listen to!! the art is seriously incredible. it made dashing around and dodging things very enjoyable! biggest wish is just for a little more feedback on things - would have loved a health bar especially, and would have liked clearer for feedback for when i fail or pass one of the mini-games. great work!

Really cool game! I especially like the art and the music. They fit well together. Was a bit confused a couple times why it looked like i was teleported or took damage or something like that, so it would be nice if there was some sort of feedback or clearer explanation to why those things happened. Really liked the game tho! Well done ^^

I played your game after watching the stream. Since I already knew how the game works (but you also did a great job explaining the mechanics in the description so I'm sure nobody is gonna struggle with that anymore), I was just enjoying the smooth gameplay and spectacular art and music. Gamejams need more games like that, a showcase of talent and the coexistence of many different arts, game design and coding! This is like an interactive exhibition!

Obviously it's stunningly beautiful. I was a little confused on the gameplay but got the hang of it pretty quickly. Good job!

Developer(+1)

well played! i'm happy to see some people got the gameplay and enjoyed it! :) we knew it was an issue but were a bit short on time

Oh gosh, this is so beautiful! The art direction is incredible, and the music really added to the drama of the conflict!

I really appreciated all the small details in the sound design and UI animations. It made it a great sensory experience! However, I had a hard time understanding what hurt the black void and what exactly the various color buffs did. I wish there was a little more feedback that told me if I was doing the right thing to win the battle, like if there was a health/progress bar of some kind. It made me unsure of if there is ever an end to the battle (is there? :o )

A really fantastic game jam submission, though; I'd be really excited if you decided to develop this game further!

Developer

thank you a lot for your comment ♥

we knew we were lacking  crucial feedbacks but got overwhelmed by the time ahah...
now that we are rested and have all your experiences back, we see clearer how to improve the game :) the health bar is indeed a bright idea i'll look into it

Thank you! (It's a snippet from some Pokemon fanart I made, haha.)

super super cool game - i loved it! from the art style to the classical music to the unique twist on a "boss" design - the animation in particular is gorgeous and i could tell a lot of care went into creating a really robust and well-thought out game just from the menu screen. full of that good good game juice and an really cool + unique experience all round

Developer

big thanks! me and the team are glad you enjoyed it all! ♪(´▽`)

I am literally speechless!

This is one of the most beautiful games I have ever seen, even outside of this jam!

Anything is absolutely perfect! If you find the time, I beg you, make a full release using this artstyle and music.

Developer(+2)

now you make us blush  ♪(´▽`)
we definitely want to add the missing sound design and we thought about improving the clarity of some parts of the gameplay... we'll think about it ;)
