Awesome presentation! I particularly love the variety of cool vfx for the different weapon upgrades.

The game stood up just fine without audio. But after I figured out how to enable sound on the settings page, the game became so much more thrilling!

Will definitely check back as this project develops 😀

I had a good time with this. The graphics are really nice, and the gameplay is really engaging. It took me a minute to get the hand of aiming the ship, but I got it eventually and ended up really enjoying the game. I'm glad I read the comments here, or I wouldn't have known there was sound (which is really good by the way)

Great work! I'm excited to see where this goes!

Drew, these are big words to me coming from you! Loved your game so much. Wow. This is fantastic, thank you, so glad you “locked on” in the game and figured out the aiming!

I tried making it like starfox, and on the first day half-succeeded, but …. having your ship move XY, your aiming XY, your shots moving negative Z elevation per delta, and then making the shots move in that Z space while aiming at your mouse FROM the position of the 3D camera …. all in Construct 3 …. ah!

It was a lot, but we got it, and learned a lot. Was my first experiment in C3 3D and, gotta say, loved it.

I have a ton to learn from by you and the way you executed your game.

Glad to meet you. Much love.

Amazing game, felt like a commercial release but did run into a problem where I couldn't select the next upgrade and continue, could of had something to-do with the ui behind the outpost that didn't go away.

Thank you for playing! Really appreciate that, wow. We’re stoked with the reception so far, my wife and I, sorry about the last minute bug though - that had to do with my custom game state engine bugging out at the last few hours. We just started working on a fix 👍👍👍

Amazing work! Echoing the other comments on this.

PS: I also missed the sound the first time until I saw the comments here.

Thanks!!! Yeah, I’m majorly bummed, I forgot to turn sfx on by default (had it off when testing every 5 seconds lol) and the level 2+ bug … agh.

Will be patching soon, been resting more than anticipated post-jam!

haha that happens so many times with game jams, forgetting something like that!

Enjoy your rest!

Awesome game! Not sure if sounds aren't working for me or if there's no sound. Though I love it! Fast pace and looks super cool! Good job.

Developer

Definitely sound! Options - SFX

Thanks!!

It's a pretty neat little game. It's a shame it doesn't go past the first sector I would have happily carried on. I really enjoy the art style. I'd have love a booming soundtrack with it though. Good work with lots of potential

Developer

Thank you for the feedback! I will be patching it shortly, and look forward to carrying on a full release 😁👍

wow... I had liked it from watching others play... and now that I also played it myself... I gotta say... I'm even more impressed with how smooth it runs and how responsive it feels... Great use of the 2D in 3D perspective really brought me back to arcade days. Cant wait to get a full version release of this.

This is really good.
2 things I really liked:
1. The look of your assets, objects' arrangement in 3-D space, the ship's movement, and the stretched field of view worked together to give a 90's retrofuturistic feel.
2. You made a palpable power curve. In the first level, I thought the enemies were too hard to kill. A few upgrades in, I realized that was the point, and it started getting easier to clear occasional enemies, but even then, only with careful targeting and persistence.

2 things I'd change:
1. I had a problem of the text appearing all scrunched together and couldn't read the HUD.
2. You developed a strong theme of self-determination on the game page. If you showed the star map at each checkpoint and plotted the course the ship has taken so far, I think it would help to reinforce that theme in-game.

Best Game Ever This Should Win The Jam!!!
