The scaling mechanic is really neat. I thought my game was going to be the most destructive, but from the sounds of the comments your game might have mine beat.

Hail stan! This was a heap of fun to play!

This was a well thought out game that really played with the scaling mechanics! I loved that the enemies were trying to shrink me, that felt like a fresh take on the scaling. You also created a great progression to the story <3 Well done!

If you find some time this weekend, please check out our game “Starship Minis” and leave a comment to let us know what you think! https://itch.io/jam/vr-jam-2021/rate/1145490

Thanks and congrats on completing the jam!!

Awesome concept! I always wanted to make a VR game with monster hands! that was a really nice experience.

One suggestion, you can add a blend shape to the hands to make the nails grow larger and hook it up to the trigger, I never tried that but I think it will feel great!

Developer

Thanks for playing! Cool idea!

Super cool concept, I love the art style! The size manipulation didn’t feel too bad once I got used to it, although my playspace was too small to get past the third level. Very nice work!

From the moment I saw those demon hands I was up for something mad, and yeeting the world into oblivion definitely satisfied that!

Enjoyed that the main mechanic was discovered by the player and not simply explained, helped me get into character, haha. Really loved the overall aesthetic as well, I was eager to explore the world.

Only thing I'd say is the growing and shrinking definitely made me feel a little bit sick, given that I had no control over it. Not quite sure what would be a good way to remedy that, as it's pretty integral to the design. :)

Thanks for the feedback! Beyond adding a vignette or something I was wondering if applying a smoothdamp to the scaling would make it better. It can quickly get disorienting if it changes real fast.

Hands down my favorite aesthetic of the whole jam!!! :) had a little trouble hitting some of my furniture near my vr play space

Super fun mechanic, unintentionally used the "easymode" cheat, and overall a great game. Loved it!

Awesome game loved the idea! had some trouble with hitting some of the little persons because of my small VR space :( but loved it overall <3
And loved the art style sooooo much

I really enjoyed the retro pixel style, also the use of the color in some scene reminded me of Spyro hahaha. Anyway the cheat worked really great!

Developer

Whew, I was worried it was too hard, glad you could cheese it! Thanks for playing!

The art style is amazing!!! It really pulled it to another level!! The simple concept is fun enough to be replayed constantly. I did put my hand through the wall but it was worth the price!

Developer (1 edit)

!! I hope you're joking about the wall!! Haha thanks for playing

Great style, and worked well enough with the space I had! However, the floaty movement threw me off a bit when trying to hit things.

Developer

Thanks for the feedback! Yeah messing with the scale doesn't help with depth perception 😅

Love the '90s SW renderer style! The concept itself is simple, but it's definitely fun and original. My only nitpick would be that I'm not exactly a fan of the fact that it requires a lot of space (and force) when losing or when a distant enemy chains you early. This made me accidentally smack my PC so hard that the screen went black lol. Everything else is great though.

Developer

Aaaahhh nooo not the monitor!! Haha thanks for the feedback. Currently things chain you randomly - it'd definitely be better to control the randomness more.

Not the monitor, I hit my case, since I have it on my desk. Thankfully, it rebooted just fine lol.

Love the visuals and the music! Great Work!

Unfortunately, my current playspace wasn't large enough to play comfortably :(

Developer(+1)

Thank you! Yeah you have to be able to extend your arms 360 at least in the current build. If you can do that you can try the cheat method I listed on the games page. Thanks for playing!
