Holy crap this is so good! The things I'm loving in these games are the small details- the this game is full of them! The little cute swipes Luna does, along with the objects that fall!! It's super clever. I also love the random personality Luna has- and her silly tendency to jump into the anchors >:(

Overall you should be super happy with this submission, this is wonderful!

Developer(+1)

Thanks for playing, and for all the kind words! :D

The game was really fun once I got the hang of it! However, I think that the laser killing the cat is a bit annoying, overall great job! :)

Developer(+1)

Yeah, i added that because I didn't want the player to just control the cat and forget about it, so they are aware and think about the lasers placement if that makes sense?

I'll probably tweak this game a lot after the jam.

Thanks for playing! :D

Submitted(+1)

it does add an extra challenge which is imporant tbh

Really nice entry!
And above all congratulations for working without a engine: GG 😎

Thanks for playing :D

Sweet ♥

FEEDBACKS :

- no game engine : RESPECT

- I don't really get what is the goal since Luna isn't going for fishes all the time

- nice sounds and music

- skin / theme doesn't fit the sweet animal eating fish :3

Developer(+1)

Thanks for playing!

The objective is high score based, and the blocks do speed up gradually over time, also eating fish with full health gives you a score boost.

:D

Luna feels just like a real cat! At first I though the movement was bugged but then I realised "oh yeah, its a cat". Good job!

Developer(+1)

Thanks for playing :D

Very pretty and creative game! Love concept very much, had great time playing.
Would be great to make cat be able to reach laser far above her, because now it's very easy to contorl cat by lasering at top half of a circkle :)

Developer

Thanks for playing!

And yeah, I'm planning on tweaking her movement a bit after the jam :D

It's very nice. I love the look and the music sounds really nice . I like the Luna's Ai as well.

I think I found  a bug though if you point the laser and pull it down of the screen you lose.  It's not game breaking and I can actually see it as a restart feature.

Developer

Ah, that's because if Luna catches your laser you lose. I could've communicated that better :D

Thanks for playing!

Submitted(+1)

Ahh, that actually  makes a lot of sense. Sorry about that

Submitted(+1)

Cute idea and I love your visuals! That the cat really gives the feeling of having a mind on its own is fantastic.

Thanks for playing!

Really cool! Simple idea, good art, audio and gameplay. A little bit hard to control but I guess that's intended
My highscore was 254 :D

Developer(+1)

Thanks for playing, and nice high score :D

Submitted(+1)

Fun idea! I loved how luna has their own personality and doesnt just blindly follow the laser pointer, however this made it so I died multiple times because they just wouldnt stop pouncing into obstacles. I had a very fun time though! The art is stellar and luna has some really cute animations

Developer (1 edit) (+1)

Thanks for playing!

*also I'm gonna make the AI a bit smarter after the jam so that should hopefully make parts less frustrating :D

Submitted(+1)

Luna seems like a very sweet kitty and I could play with her for forever, I had an issue where her health bar covered up the bottom of the screen and I couldn't see her though D:

Developer(+1)

Oh no, sorry about that. I couldn't test on a range of devices and screen sizes :(.

I'll see if i can fix that after the jam though!

Submitted(+1)

I played in a firefox window, if that helps. it didn't have that issue when I tried a different browser. But otherwise really cute and solid game

Developer

Ah ok thanks. After the jam I can do some bugfixing in firefox, it'll be related to the CSS not working perfectly across all browsers.

Submitted(+1)

Omg such a cute and fun idea!!! I really love everything from the aesthetics, the game  design to the sound design! Totally nailed the whole cat thing

Developer(+1)

Thanks for the kind words and for playing :D

Looks like we both made cat-sterpieces ;)

Submitted(+1)

Really fun idea, kinda hard to get the cat to behave how you want to but hey I gess that's just cats being cats

Thanks for playing!

Nice cute little game!

Visuals were nice, and all fit nicely together.

I think that the dash is a cool idea, as well as the other movement types of Luna. I think this game would be great if you could have lots of control over Luna's movement. So, like how many cats do, if you hold the pointer in a singular spot for long enough, that is what will start a pounce. And the pounce will be in the direction of the pointer. Then maybe if you move the pointer too erratically, they won't be able to follow it and possibly lose interest.

I mostly found whenever Luna started a dash to be the only time to click the falling objects, would be cool if there were more strategic opportunities to switch off of controlling Luna and clicking the objects. Maybe if Luna gets a fish it will stop her from moving for a short time because she needs to eat it.

Surprising to see this not be made in a game engine, hopefully it was a fun challenge you put on yourself.

Although, I don't see how this fits the theme.

Developer (1 edit) (+1)

Thanks for playing, and some really cool ideas there!

If I update the game after the jam these are definitely some things I'll think about :D

*oh also for the theme, Luna is the AI and you are collaborating with her because your not controlling her but trying to help her by grabbing your attention. Might be a loose fit but jonas said it was a loose definition of AI :D

Submitted(+1)

As a laser nerd/cat ownder: Cute graphics and music/sfx, A++ on that. It took me a bit to figure out exactly how to click in order to move Luna, and whether the dash was random or not. I think GMTK had a jam theme of “out of control” and this would be much more fitting for that IMO, still a fun concept though.

Submitted(+1)

super fun!  art and title was amazing aswell! one issue though, one of the ways you can lose is by touching the laser pointer, but since Luna isn't very good at jumping, aslong as you have the laser pointer just a bit higher than her jump(which is easy to do) you don't have to worry about her catching it

Developer

Thanks for the feedback, I might change her movement a bit after the jam :D

Submitted(+1)

Pretty fun! Luna is very cute :) there could be more depth to the movement - a way to manually start a pounce, for example, would be nice. I also liked the presentation, the art and music were both quite well done. Overall I think it's a cute little highscore game :D

Developer

Thanks for playing, and for the feedback, definitely something I'll look into after the jam's ended

Submitted(+1)

Really cool game! I love the idea and the cute and simpel artstyle, good job!
