Actually yes, not much changes expect a brand new mechanic.

Hello, This is Alien Kat.

This game is called The Priestess. You're tasked with cleansing a cursed Mansion and free all the trapped souls. Combat just relies on a knife and trap items you can set up.

I released a playtest demo to get some feedback.  So I would appreciate it if y'all could check it out thanks!

At the moment no, but that does sound like a good idea.

Hey,
I just saw reply. I just added you on discord.

Hey,
thanks for the message! Most of the horror game assets are for a project I'm working on, but I am available for small projects like gamejams since I'm working on my own project.

you can message me on discord AlienKat#5278.

Normally I prefer to work solo but I'd like to spend more time practicing my 3D skills. I've been modeling for close to a year and doing complex animations for a couple of months. I did most/all of the modeling and animations for my last two games. You can message me on here or discord Pekora's Right Carrot Braid#5278.

Thanks!

Can't really say much about the story because it's too short, but I really like the dreamy atmosphere (I can easily fall asleep to the music or leave it on loop for hours).  The only issue I had was with the puzzle, the pieces were hard to see and hurt my eyes the color of the puzzle pieces was too similar to the background. I think having more contrast or an outline would easily fix that. Overall the game feels comfy.

Thanks for playing and the in-depth review!

There were several mechanics that are planned but couldn't get in on time (checkpoints and a health regen for example). As for the map I'm still working out what type of setting I'd like so I put something quickly together using unity assets and my own, that's probably why some things looked more detailed than others. The actual game will have a much more uniform style. I'll be honest I didn't spend as much time as I wanted on the enemies or general flow of the game. The boss, dialogue, cutscenes, and menu were implemented several hours before the deadline. My main goal with this prototype was to create a combat system, so it's very reassuring to hear you were impressed by it!

I'm pretty meh at bullet hells (last I played was TH 11) but that was pretty fun and not punishing lol. The only thing that could be improved is the movement speed, it feels like the bullets travel faster than the player.

This seems to be part of a much bigger universe storywise, so a couple of references went over my head. Overall though I think I got the gist of the in-game story. The 3 magic abilities were pretty fun to use, and I used them a lot. I didn't use the sword much because I couldn't tell where and when I was being hit. I think if there was a way to read an attack and dodge/block the sword would be really useful.

I always dig it when a game combines different genres and I think I count 3 here. The map reminds me a lot of halo and the sprites doom.

I can't seem to play this, every time I attempt to move my character flies off the screen. I have a feeling it might have to do with frame dependence.

Gameplay feels solid and I love the aesthetic. It really does feel like a nes era game. The only thing I can point out is that the transformation time feels a bit too long, decreasing the time or extending the animation I think would give it a better feel. It feels awkward when her transformation animation seems finished, but she's still locked in the sprite.

thanks for playing!

Yup I'll be adding in a regeneration and other mechanics, although it'll probably be after the jam

The story was super cute and the general feel of the game felt very polished. I'm pretty curious now as to the general backstory of the world, was Madoka Magica an inspiration?

Thanks for checking the game out!

There were more mechanics I wanted to put in such as checkpoints, but couldn't get to. (Creating the models and animations took longer than expected). I'm in the process of overhauling a lot of the systems, so the feedback is much appreciated.

Thanks for playing!

Thanks for checking the game out!
The final boss is covered by a shield so you need to parry her regular attack to break it and stun her. At the moment, she's not finished so after her last health bar, she'll keep attacking.

Thanks for checking the game out.
Yeah, there were several planned mechanics that I wanted to put in such as checkpoints and a heal on hit but I never got to it. A lot of the mechanics were unfinished too, such as the boss fight( The boss fight actually doesn't end). Basically, I handed in whatever I had. This was me testing the waters, so I'm treating this as a prototype for now and hoping for feedback.

Pretty solid game and well polished.  The only issue I had was the massive amount of lag I'd get when there were a lot of projectiles on the screen.

I really liked the music and transformation sequence.  The character design was pretty good too. I would've liked if there were music for the battles because it's pretty jarring going from a transformation sequence with music to a battle without one.

Simple but really cute, aiming is a bit tricky but this feels like the controls are geared towards mobile or gamepad so that's not really an issue. The only thing I really didn't like was that the camera was fixed, I ended up running out of frame a lot. Overall it feels possible you can turn this into something, considering the art and style are already there.

The artstyle is beautiful and the setting is neat, the only thing is the big monster is frustrating to fight against since it feels heavily rng dependent. I had to hope the weak mobs would drop potions and that this big monster's level was low.

The artstyle was way too cute to be a horror game lol. This reminded me a lot of Earthbound. Hope is pretty op but considering how strong some of the enemy attacks were It's probably better that way.  I had to redo the final boss battle because the snake died the first time.

I loved the story and the gameplay was solid too though the bosses felt a bit too easy compared to the regular mobs, if you guys plan on to work on this after the jam I'd love to see more of the lore.

Short but with lots of depth. The retro aesthetic is nice and feels clean. I just wish there were an explanation on how the cards work and the mechanics.

The visuals and audio and fantastic and the knockback from shooting is a neat little touch. The doors not closing don't seem to damage you (I'm not sure if that's a glitch) It kind of takes a while to get to the enemies too.

This is also a very pretty game too. The city looks great and I think I spent more time exploring than doing missions lol ( after a half hour of playing I haven't started the second battle yet. I flew away to explore and find more orbs). The only issue I had was it felt like I was fighting for control of the camera when I'm on the ground and somehow I got the camera stuck in the portal room while the character was outside.

Overall gave me Spiderman vibes, and I love Spiderman.

Thanks for checking the game out! I had plans for a checkpoint system among other things but never got to implementing it. I was worried the game might be easy so hearing that it was stressful is good to me lol :p

Glad you liked it!

I'm a big fan of ARPGs and health instead of mana is a pretty interesting concept, so I'll be looking forward to future updates

The mechanics are awesome, although a bit tricky to understand at first. My only gripe is that the clouds really obscure the enemies up there. Overall really solid, I ended up replaying the tut a couple of times because  I really love the mechanics

That was such a great playthrough! Unfortunate about the end though. You missed a really "important" note in the house, aside from that good job on pretty much beating the game.

That's weird, it shouldn't have any problems. Are you downloading it on your personal computer? There seems to be issues with school computers trying to download it.

What kind of browser are you using? It might not allow you on google drive.

Which OS? The game is too large to be hosted on itch so the link is to a Google drive download

Thanks for playing, glad you enjoyed it! The ghost is a curse, so even if you win you still die. I'm glad you finished it though, I wanted to make the game hard lol.

Check it now

Thank you for playing! Hope it was spooky enough for you!
