Good graphics and the fish boids are nice. Pretty short but it’s understandable when time is limited to a week. Concentrating to learn something new is something I will try to do more in the future.

Developer

Thank you! yeah, that's a real motivator for me when I can see something out of the ordinary (for me) taking shape.

Nice game. The environment design looks really cool and the controls feel smooth.

Also I just learned about "boids", really interesting mechanics.

Developer(+1)

Thanks for trying it! Boids are really interesting : Sebastian Lague made a nice coding adventure on it

I love that you implemented some swarm behavior for the fish. It's something I would've liked to add to our game but didn't find the place/time to fit it in. Always fun to experience with boids.

Developer

Thanks! Yeah, I've wanted to play with boids for some time and this theme was perfect for a quick introduction :)

Lovely, chill, and short game with an amazing look and feel to it.

Are those boids I spy? I lost a week to those once! Whether they are or not, the fish looked and moved amazing.

Developer(+1)

Those are indeed boids you spy ;) That was another thing I wanted to play with in this jam and it was quite fun! I just don't like the "jitter" when they have to move away from something : that's something to work on!

Thank you for playing!

Simple and fun game. Right from the intro screen, the game captures the feel of diving very well. The artwork, character animation and music are all very good. The feeling of running short of breath and reaching the surface for air is realistic. Felt it was too short though. You could consider adding more to the game later on. Overall the game comes across as a very coherent work that could surely be expanded on.

Developer

Thank you for your feedback! Indeed, the game is very short and I think I could push it further in some kind of "Ecco the dolphin" game. My objective was on training animation mainly which is why I didn't take time to create a bigger level :)

Great audio and visuals! It's a bit short but I enjoyed exploring the environment and err... swimming with the fishes.

Developer

hahaha, yeah, there is not much to do but I liked bothering the fishes too :)

Thanks for playing!

I think you've really nailed a nice visual look! If I'm to be picky then the only point I would labour is how quickly the character changes rotation(?) because everything else is nice and smooth and the jarring of that stands out.

As you say it's a short project and you got to learn some new techniques. Awesome outcome for a gamejam already. :)

Developer

Thanks for your comment! I agree with the swimmer's rotation. I wanted to make an animation for changing direction but it takes so much time that I had to let it go unfortunately...

I can only imagine! I've been putting off learning AnimationTree for a while now. :)

The underwater scene here is absolutely gorgeous, and I love how the fish swim around. It obviously doesn't take too long to explore the whole thing here, but it's still pretty nice.

I almost wonder if slowing down the player movement would be a good idea, just to force players to take the game a little slower... 😅

Good job!

Developer(+1)

Thanks a lot! I actually started with a slower swimmer but I was not really convinced... Although it gives more of a "contemplative" feel which is nice for such a short game :)

Nice art, it was cute, short and sweet.

Love the fish reacting to the diver, it was organic!

Developer(+1)

Thank you : I spent more time on the art than the rest so it's nice to hear :)

Submitted

Simple short game, love the art, great job!

Developer

Thanks! Art is where I spent the most time so your comment is nice to hear

Submitted

Really nice game. Loved the ambiance you created and the art is really awsome

Developer

Thank you :)

Man that UI is nice. Jam games (like mine) usually place UI as the very last thing that you do an hour before the submission but I can tell you definitely put some thought and care into that.

Developer

Thank you! I'm often like you about the UI : it's the last thing that is rushed before the deadline :)

This one flowed quite naturally, though

A freediving game, really cool concept and great artwork and sound.  Great job.  It would be cool to add some places that you can only get to once you've gathered all 8 of shiny things things.  A longer game would be awesome.

Developer

I agree. I didn't have so much time to spend on the game jam this time so I thought I would focus more on animation to train a little bit

Thanks for your review!

The artwork for this game is amazing - very pure. I collected all 8 of the shiny-shinys but nothing happened, swam about for a bit longer.

Don't know if i missed something, but would love to see more artwork like this in a fully-fleshed out game.

Developer(+1)

No there was nothing else. I just added a message when you collect the last pearl. After that, you can just swim around but that's it. I didn't take the time to push the game further than that. Thanks a lot for playing!

Ah even so - it's a beautiful game! Like I said, would love to see more with this aesthetic :) good work
