I played the game and beat it. The atmosphere by far is its strongest suit. You did a great job with setting up the room and make it "scary". It was a bit crammed in there but I think this was done on purpose to make you feel stuck with the crazy doll girl with the scissors. Here's a summary for what I liked, and didn't like.

What I liked:

1. Great atmosphere. I actually was getting goose bumps

2. The gameplay was straightforward

3. Controls felt good

4. The doll changes her behavior slightly the closer you get to your goal

What I didn't like:

1. The doll movement was getting a bit predictable and it was a little easy to avoid her (Then again, making her more persistent may not work with the small environment)

2. Speaking of the small environment, I was getting occasionally stuck between obstacles. Nothing game breaking, but it was making movement more difficult

3. The flashlight doesn't last very long. I found some extra batteries, but I don't think it was mentioned that the top left bar was actually my flashlight power

4. The beam of the flashlight obscures vision sometimes, maybe reduce it a bit?

5. The picture frame of the house was a bit hard for me to find because there were three versions of it. I didn't know which one was the right one :D

Bugs I noticed:

1. Some graphical bugs on the ground. Sometimes, puddles of blood appear and disappear (maybe some Z-fighting going on there with the renderer)

2. On the later stages, the doll's angular speed is a bit slow, and may be causing some issues with her turning around as she moves faster

Overall, this is a great game. I really enjoyed playing it. I hope I wasn't too harsh with my review, so definitely keep at it :)

I liked the game. It does a lot of things right, but there are some problems with it. So here's my review (I hope I'm not too harsh)

What I liked:

1. Nice looking visuals.

2. Nice enemy variety.

3. Story was simple but fun and to the point.

4. Level progression was decent.

Cutscenes didn't overstay their welcome.

What I didn't like:

1. The F ability (Scythe) is too Over powered. I could've beaten all 3 levels with that ability alone.

2. Sometimes it's hard to tell how much damage was dealt on an enemy. Sometimes an enemy would die from one hit by a certain attack, and then the same enemy type would die from more than one hit from the same attack.

3. There were some clipping issues in the scenery where certain buildings would get out of the camera frustum, which created a weird cutout effect.

4. The ability keys are a bit all over the place. It's hard to try and reach for J and K keys when the F key is much closer (and is triggers the strongest attack anyway).

Overall, great work and I look forward to seeing more of your work :)

oh wait, was I supposed to have both files in the same folder while unzipping 001? What I did was download 001 alone, then tried unzipping it, but it asked for a password, so I deleted it

Then I downloaded 002, but that file had an unrecognized file format. I'll try to download both this time and unzip 001 again, but with 002 in the same directory this time. Maybe that'll work

I couldn't get the game to work sadly :(

I tried the first file v0.0.3.7z.001 and the zip file has a password it seems. The second file v0.0.3.7z.002 has an unrecognized file format

My apologies

ah I see. A true retro experience :D

Not bad for a simple game. Reminds me of the older Windows 92 games lol

What I liked:

1. Good looking visuals, albeit needing more polish

2. The music is cool

3. Gameplay is simple and straightforward

What I didn't like:

1. You can't go in reverse with your bike :(

2. Adding obstacles on the road would've been cool

Overall, nicely done. I look forward to seeing more work :)

Wow this is a very intriguing game. I really loved the multiple endings lol

What I liked:

1. A simple yet very attractive game of Black jack

2. One of the endings was very... surprising

3. The sound effects are on spot with that retro feel

What I didn't like:

1. The game is a bit too short imo. Would've loved to see more wacky endings

Overall, I think you did a great job making this

This game is pretty amazing. I really liked the strategic aspect to it.

What I liked:

1. Absolutely beautiful visuals

2. Music and sound effects are very polished

3. The gameplay was challenging, but didn't feel unfair

4. The emphasis on the combo meter to be able to beat more powerful enemies was well implemented

What I didn't like:

1. While the art style was gorgeous to look at, the enemies' colors felt a bit off, and a bit out of place with the rest of the palette

Other things and suggestions:

1. I think the way the game implemented the theme more wasn't the combo meter itself, but rather, the combination of attacks that the player selects to match those of their current enemy.

To be fair, I'm having a hard time finding criticism for this game, and I know my dislike point is more of a nitpick, but that usually means that you did a very good job making this game.

Great work, keep it up

This was a fun game to play. Short and to the point. Controls are simple and not hard to pick on the ammo switch mechanic.

What I liked:

1. Fun gameplay

2. Visuals are very atmospheric and convey the sense of spookiness

3. Music and sound effects were good

4. Cool easter eggs hidden in the game (I found one)

5. The boss fight at the end, albeit a bit gimmecky, was a good addition

What I didn't like:

1. the player movement is momentum based, which is not a big deal, but I would prefer some snappier movement myself

2. One particular section felt a bit unfair. It's the one where you suddenly get surrounded from both sides by spooders with little time to react. I know there's a secret passage in that area (I discovered it by going the other way), but maybe adding some indication to that passage would make this section more fair to the player

All in all, I really enjoyed playing this game. Well done

haha I sure do like me some pringles :P

A cool game. I found the levels quite fun, interesting, and with a decent amount of variety. The game is quite simplistic in its design, but still does its job at being enjoyable.

What I liked:

1. Solid controls

2. Nice Background music

3. Cool voice acting at certain events (e.g. when you beat the game)

4. The theme is quite consistent throughout

What I didn't like:

1. I wish the aim cursor was a different color other than yellow. I can barely see it sometimes. I suggest switching it to either red or green

2. I didn't understand what the other power ups were doing. I noticed that the black and red ones are bad, and the rest were good, but that's about it. Some explanation would be helpful

Overall, nicely done with this project

Thank you for playing our game and the feedback. Balancing unit movement and damage output was on our tasks list but sadly we ran out of time before we had the chance to implement that.

Thanks again :)

This is a very clever game and I absolutely loved it. I managed to beat it, with a bit of brute forcing in both puzzles to be fair. Some clues I didn't get (like the ship figurine in the second puzzle), but overall, this was very well made.

What I liked:

1. Beautiful aesthetics

2. Great use of audio and visual queues for feedback

3. The controls are tight and responsive

4. Challenging puzzles, but not too obscure to solve (you just need to be observant)

5. The notebook mechanic was a good addition to the game

What I didn't like:

1. I wish there was some background music playing while I was solving the puzzles. Each puzzle takes a good amount of time to solve and you will feel a bit frustrated during that time. A bit of calming music would be great in my opinion

2. The up and down arrows on the door combination keypad could have a different color or have a light on them so the player can immediately see them (took me a second to see them)

Other things and suggestions:

1. In the second level, there's a bug where you can pull the last piece of paper without needing to solve the square puzzle (idk what it's called lol). I solved the puzzle anyway, but I didn't know that it unlocked something I wasn't supposed to find before solving it

All in all, this is a great game, and I would love to see the concept expand into something larger. Great work :P

Hey Axel. I'm so glad that you were there for the streams, and that you enjoyed the game

A simple, yet fun game to play. I really like the idea

An interesting concept, but I think it's a bit rough around the edges. I like the idea of memorizing the runes in order to cast them. Although, if this were to be implemented on a larger scale, then some kind of grimoire or notebook where you can lookup spells you already know would be important to have.

What I liked:

1. The aesthetics look lovely and peaceful

2. The idea is new and interesting

3. The background music fits the theme well

What I didn't like:

1. Very little explanation on how the runes selection works

2. No feedback when the player is hit (audio and visual queues would help)

3. Lack of explanation of what each spell actually does

Other things I found and suggestions:

1. You can sometimes jump again while in mid-air (This is not related to the second spell where you can double jump)

2. Having some kind of notebook that saves all spells you learned would really help

All in all, nicely done.

No worries mate. I know how you feel. There's a lot of things that we'd like to address in our game as well. It's never easy to get it 100% right, especially with a genre this difficult (rts games are hard lol)

(1 edit)

I really enjoyed playing this game. The visual art style is consistent and polished. However, the gameplay did fall short on some key aspects

What I liked:

1. Superb visual art style

2. Great soundtrack

3. Good selection of VAs

4. Simple, yet functional UI

What I didn't like:

1. I think there's a bug with the credits counter. At late game, where I basically dominated the map center, I would have 10k+ credits yet for some reason the game still didn't think I had enough money to buy T-16s and even mech warriors, which was really confusing. Furthermore, when I did get to order a T-16, I noticed that the amount deducted from my balance was way more than the tank would cost (I think it was 1500, but correct me if I'm wrong)

2. There are some significant frame drops during gameplay. This is most apparent during engagement with enemy forces

3. You can walk through terrain obstacles. This can result in me walking into an ambush where the AI would have some forces hidden within the mountains. Clever AI :P

4. Sometimes, some of my units would refuse to give any command that I give them. This happened with one of my harvesters just sitting in my base doing nothing, and a second time with 2 artillery units while I was invading an AI base. They just sat there, refusing to either fire or even move back to base after the fighting was over

5. I noticed that my units didn't enjoy too much autonomy as I expected them to have. For example, when I was controlling the map center, I had some forces there to pick off any AI harvesters that came to the center, but I noticed that they ignored those harvesters most of the time and that I had to manually order them to engage

Finally, I hope I wasn't too harsh with my review. I really think this game has great potential and I can see that a lot of love and care went into it. I wanted to give out a clear and honest picture of my experience because I really think this game deserves all the love it can get. All in all, great work and keep it up :)

Alright, we'll keep that in mind

Thanks for playing :D

The game does need to be more balanced, I will admit. Sadly, we had little time to tweak the in-game economy better

This is a very beautiful game with very interesting mechanics and art style. I love it. Although there's not much criticism that I have for this game, here's a summary of what I like and dislike about it.

What I like:

1. The new mechanic where you use your old dead bodies as platforms to both stand on and block traps is a very interesting and new concept. It also fits well in a 2D platformer like this

2. The gameplay is quite accessible and the controls are very simple

3. The art style is well polished and the color palette works well with the pixel art setting

4. The level progression felt natural and fair. I didn't feel like some of the earlier levels are harder than their later counterparts. The level design overall is well-made, which makes the game challenging, but still fair

5. I like the music

6. I like the bit of humor in the game, cuz why not have cats in a cat-a-combs :P

What I don't like:

1. The laser beam trap sfx seems missing, I'm not sure if that was by choice or something else, but overall, this is a minor issue

2. The soundtrack, while is very nice, adding more music pieces to it would've been even better imo. Like maybe one for the main menu and one for the levels.

Other than that, I can't find much negative things to say about the game, so well done. You made a very lovely game

This game is lots of fun for such a simple concept. Here is a brief summary of what I like and dislike about it What I like: 1. The art style is simplistic but does its job very well. Everything is clear to the player

2. The gameplay is quite accessible. The controls are intuitive and not that complicated

3. The gameplay loop is fun and I think you can have a decent amount of hours playing this before it starts to get old

4. The music is a good fit for the game

What I don't like:

1. There's very little feedback to notify the player that they've been hit. I found myself having to constantly check how much health I've got because I didn't even know when an enemy bullet hit me. The feedback is very subtle and could've used some damaged overlay and a sound effect, but probably no screen shake since there's a lot going on in the game already

2. A leaderboard would've been nice so I can compare my performance to that of other players, but this probably wasn't feasible due to time restrictions, so I understand

3. The yellow enemy bullets can look a bit similar to the coins, which leads to me not realizing that these are bullets and I need to dodge them instead of collect them :P

Overall, nicely done! I really loved this game

So, I played the game and it's quite fun for an endless runner with some math in it. However, I ran into a few problems. But first, here's what I like about the game.

1. The visual effects and art style are nice.

2. The theme is cool and fun to listen to.

3. The controls are very accessible and not that complicated.

4. The UI, despite being a bit empty, is solid (for the most part).

What I don't like:

1. Whenever you fail a round, the game just fades to black and there's no retry or back to main prompt. You're just stuck there and the only way to replay is to close the game entirely and start over.

2. The main menu could've had more work done to it.

3. The player fail condition is a bit vague. 1 round, I was playing on the "I Love Suffering" mode and I made the wrong decision on the first game. There were literally no zombies in front of me, but the game decided that I was not worthy of carrying on and exploded my poor single trooper anyway. I feel like making the player fail when having all his troopers get killed by zombies instead of just dying immediately is a better approach.

4. Also when I was playing on "I Love Suffering" mode, one of the formulas was so long that it clipped over to the other gate :P

Over all, the game is fun to play and I think with enough polish, you can turn it into something very good.

Cheers

urrr... I'm not sure what to make of this game tbh. It's an interesting Windows XP fake screen (with a disturbing twist in one of the folders), and I did follow the link to the other game "Miner Inconvenience", which was an okay endless platformer, but I'm not sure how this qualifies as a bullet hell game

In short, decent work on creativity, but not sure how this relates to the jam

Loved the game. I was wondering if you could link the soundtrack at the start cuz it's such a lovely song.

Cheers! :)

Thanks for the quick response. I downloaded the new pack and it works :)

Hi, I like your work, but when I imported to my Unity project, it was missing the materials. Think you can add those? Thanks again

I am a Unity programmer. I'd like to hear more about your game

Discord: Blood_Jackal23#6468

Nicely done. I did find a bug where one of the green crabs moved out of bounds. Can't remember which level though

Good job though

An impressive feet to be able to make a game (or the demo of one) in 2 days without the help of an engine.

Well done!

Made it to the level with the third cat, but I couldn't beat it. The game is good though. The art style and sound effects are beautiful.

Overall, I enjoyed it a lot. Good job!

https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=KWRz93i5fmg

Here's the tower I created. I found that the best building materials are ladders, French baguettes and fridges, for some reason.

I wonder, does this game have an end?

I AM STILL CLIMBING!!! HEEEEEEELP!!!

Not bad for a strategy game made in 2 days really. The gameplay is not too complicated to understand after a couple of playthroughs. Sound design was also good.

Overall, this is a good game with some great potential. Keep it up!

(1 edit)

So, I played the game, didn't understand what was going on, so I looked at the comments and I saw that I wasn't the only one. Then I read the developer's message explaining the game. I went back, played again, and I won? At least that's what it said on the screen.

I see potential in this game but I think its biggest problem is feedback, or lack there of. I believe a quick tutorial will go a long way. Also, adding some sound effects or some music can add more to the player experience and make the game more enjoyable.

Overall, not bad, considering that it was made in 2 days. Keep it up

Thank you. I'm glad you liked it
