Amazing game! I really like this abstract concept of colorful ships shooting a lot of things, it makes the game chaotic! I love chaos haha

loved this! Very well executed and I loved the clean look

This game is lots of fun for such a simple concept. Here is a brief summary of what I like and dislike about it What I like: 1. The art style is simplistic but does its job very well. Everything is clear to the player

2. The gameplay is quite accessible. The controls are intuitive and not that complicated

3. The gameplay loop is fun and I think you can have a decent amount of hours playing this before it starts to get old

4. The music is a good fit for the game

What I don't like:

1. There's very little feedback to notify the player that they've been hit. I found myself having to constantly check how much health I've got because I didn't even know when an enemy bullet hit me. The feedback is very subtle and could've used some damaged overlay and a sound effect, but probably no screen shake since there's a lot going on in the game already

2. A leaderboard would've been nice so I can compare my performance to that of other players, but this probably wasn't feasible due to time restrictions, so I understand

3. The yellow enemy bullets can look a bit similar to the coins, which leads to me not realizing that these are bullets and I need to dodge them instead of collect them :P

Overall, nicely done! I really loved this game

Really fun core gameplay with tight controls. The visuals were really clean and nice. Also that music was excellent for the neon feel

Thanks for the feedback! :)

Wow this game had the most juice of any game I've played so far in the jam. Incredible job with absolutely everything!!!! Congrats on the phenomenal entry! I would actually pay for this game if you kept working on it and released it. Especially if somehow multiplayer was incorporated.

Developer

Thank you so much for your feedback :> Im currently working on a mobile port featuring waves, customization, bosses, quests and much more! If you want to stay up to date you can follow me on itch!

Most fun game of this jam I've played. Also like the artystyle and the music reminded me of doom in some parts, so of course I liked that as well. Also the I think the difficulty was just right - decently challenging.

Developer

Thank you :>

I need to stop myself before I play this all night. Super rad game. Very addictive and replayable. Feels great, aesthetics are awesome, feels super polished. My only complaint is the camera moving in when the ship slows down, but that's probably my personal preference. I wouldn't mind an upgrade to prevent that from happening even.

Great, great job.

Really smooth gameplay, great visuals, and player feedback is excellent! I actually had a lot of fun playing this.

If there's one thing I would like personally, it would be to prevent the camera from zooming in so much, or at all, when you hit your brakes.

Thank you ^^

Nice game. im glad the shooting seems to work on a toggle as im using laptop trackpad so having to not steer to shoot is a nightmare, but your game seems to allow auto shoot which is very nice.

welldone on the submission

maybe less repetitive music might be a good call.

This is a very fun game, added to my collection to play it more. If you took Fat Cat Studios planets combined with your gameplay you would have a hit game.
Not a big fane of the music but that is very subjective.

Nice job on making this fun and with interesting mechanics.

An incredible well executed game! The movement is super smooth and responsive and the feedback, visual and auditive, is absolutely stellar great job! I feel like you could communicate a little bit more that you truly die if you die without having enough money for upgrades (if that even is the condition °^^) Good job all around! The upgrades felt impactful and the music fit perfectly!

Fun

Very fun. A top down space shooter with tight controls and a solid upgrade system.

Aesthetics

Looks great. "Sleek" is the word I would use. I really like the side gun look.  Colors pop and the bloom looks nice.

Music

Great music. Fits the game

Sound

Fantastic. Fits the game, and feels super professional.

Mechanics

The only one upgrade system feels bad. I am forced to kill myself to progress, but then I am immediately met with that barrier. So I have to suicide A LOT.

The shooting, controls, and hitboxes all feel perfect though. No complaints there. The upgrades feel satisfying and encouraged progress.

Story

None as far as I am aware.

Theme

This feels like an exceptional space shooter with the gamejam theme slapped onto the upgrade system.

Honestly this could be a very fun game. I would take off the death thing and look for other unique mechanics you could add. I'm biased, but possibly a slay the spire artifact collection system? I want my ship to be completely overpowered. I want missiles and explosions all over the screen. Poison bullets. Flamethrowers. You have  great starting point for a truly enjoyable space shooter and I would like to see you do something great with it.

Developer

Thank you for playing! Very nice review! The criticism is very fair. The original idea was a space survival game in which you buy upgrades to respawn but in the end I didn't have time and really forgot to convey the message of surviving being the point of the game which is pretty unfortunate :<  Anyway thank you for the feedback!

Very fun game!

I liked the fast paced action, the way you made the jam theme the core of the upgrade system and just how engaging the combat is!

Clean and simple sprites, which made the action stand out even more. Nice variety of enemies, each with their own type of attack pattern and projectile.

Cool music that fits the game and nice sound effects.

The only downside is that the game ended after I got all upgrades and died. XD

Great game!

Developer
