Hello everyone!

I have designed and programmed a protoype of a novelty word game. The MVP is functionally complete but it could use a facelift. I am looking for a 2D UI artist that can help provide simple and themed assets. There won't be all too much to make and I am open to theming the game if you have an idea for it!

I would like to publish to public on itch as soon as we implement the art, so if you decide to join me you'll have a project to add to your portfolio rather quickly!

Hey everyone,

I recently posted about looking to join a team but so far nothing serious has come from that. Since I had some down time I decided to just start messing around in Unity again. I've been playing basic Alchemy games and I wanted to try and make my own just for fun. The core of the game is very simple - combine elements to create new ones. There are a few out there that do this but I was hoping between an artist and myself we could think of some clever additions to the genre. If anything it's a nice way to just pump icons into a time-wasting app.

Personally, my current idea is to use this to learn more about Google Play Ads, Google Play In-App Purchases, and Google Play Cloud Services. I want to be able to grant hints for watching ads, let users buy hints in bulk, and save their progress on the cloud using their Google Play sign in credentials.

I made in a few hours but it looks completely ugly with programmer art! Let's chat and I can show you what I've got so far.

Yeah? The title says hobby so I don't expect to work a ton on it but I don't expect to make money off it either. If the team's goal was to sell the game, then I'd ask for my fair share but I don't want to be for hire :)

Hey all,

I have recently completed a side project and I am looking for my next! Instead of starting a new project on my own, I was hoping to join a small team to make something great. I would also be open to finding someone to start a new project from scratch if we had a solid idea and the resources (art) to make it happen.

What I'm Looking For

  • Small to medium scoped projects. I want to have a complete game done in 6 months if possible!
  • Small-sh team, probably no more than 6
  • A team with at least 1 artist and 1 other programmer
  • Game developed in either Unity or Unreal
  • I want to work on the content of the game - stuff like combat, mechanics, items, encounters, etc. 
  • Preferably, my role on the team is designer
  • If the game is multiplayer, I prefer not to work on the networking or hosting side

What I Offer

  • 3-5 hours/week of development
  • Professional Unity experience (it's my day job)
  • Working knowledge in most of the widely used programming languages and patterns
  • Google Play Services and Publishing experience
  • Mobile development experience

Lmao, yeah I did :P After a few refreshes of the browser, it worked. I think the issue is once you fullscreen it, the input didn't work for some reason.

To be fair, I didn't try other browsers. Maybe Chrome just failed to load it properly? When I run the game, it loads a still image that when clicked, just opened in fullscreen. Was weird :( 

Edit: OH I SEE. I have to press Enter on the keyboard! I can't get past the controls screen now though.

Great little game jam game!

Fishing mini-game, the ladder, and the shady dealer are awesome!

The mechanic totally fits the theme fo the jam.

10/10!

Not quite sure what this game is about, I hardly got past anything.

A few notes from the couple of minutes I played:

  • The leaf blower is very weak. It was hard to move dice
  • Do the dice change when I touch them/get blown? What's the deal
  • The movement is probably the biggest issue. It should have been independent of the player's facing, and the mouse should just dictate the facing/shooting angle.
  • All the trees got in the way of the camera. It was frustrating at times

There is no game to play? Just a bait for donation? Weird.

Really nice graphics for a game jam.

The concept is pretty simpel though. I saw a variety of the 'mini-games' but ultimately they play out very similarly. Side note, I didn't realize I could "kill" some stuff but not others right away.

C and X as input was really jarring at first. Q and E is what I'd expect!

The twist on the tower defense with elemental combination is definitely something I havent played before so that's a plus.

How they combined makes sense initially but it gets kind of messy really fast knowing what you did was good or bad. 

I only got a few levels in but it seems pretty fun.

My biggest compaint is that the "roll of the dice" isn't the star of the game. The star is definitely the elemental combinations!

Ohhh changing the gun at roll would fit the theme more, but I think it would have made me sad since I tailored my choices of powerups for the gun I had haha. Dang, sorry I don't. It was a good while. Probably like 5 minutes of game time. I wish I took a screenshot of the final score. Good luck on the jam :)

Pretty neat little shoot-em-up with rogue-like progression.

Railgun is OP. I got to a build where I was shooting nonstop and between passive regeneration and extra ammo on rolls, I was unstoppable. 

My main gripe with the game is that it doesn't particularly fit the theme of the jam. "Roll of the dice" is taken literally, as the player (dice) rolls, but you could have changed the dice with a chicken, or monkey, or whatever, and it wouldn't really change the game much.

I liked the art style of the board and enemies, but the dice and belt seemed out of place.

Mechanically, it is too simple. I wish there was more for me to think about than where to place the dice for maximum damage. It got to a point where I was just dropping dice as soon as I saw them come in. 

I did like that there were different enemy types - it added some level of complexity, but not much. If there were other things like spawnable units from dice, etc, this game could be something cool.

Simple but great concept! Good work! Takes the theme literally too. One of the first game's so far that I've seen that employs the theme well.

The puzzles get harder and harder to solve which is good. 

My only concern was that I was having trouble remembering which face is where. That's just the limitation of dice in general but it definitely makes the puzzle harder than it should be at times.

Visuals are pretty good for a game jam. 

The combat is lackluster. Melee is strong, and the only enemy that can really be a challenge was the wizard/ranged enemy when I wasn't ready to fight them at the start.

The theme does not fit that well either. The only thing the dice had to do with the game was the setup of the level. If this was just random and represented with no dice, it would not change the game.

I did not particularly enjoy interacting with the dice either. At first I didn't understand what the dice room was doing (the text is small) but eventually I figured it out.
