How does your game fit the theme?
Tower defense, but you can't shoot and instead of an economy you get 3 random towers after each enemy wave. You can combine these towers to create new towers.

The twist on the tower defense with elemental combination is definitely something I havent played before so that's a plus.

How they combined makes sense initially but it gets kind of messy really fast knowing what you did was good or bad.

I only got a few levels in but it seems pretty fun.

My biggest compaint is that the "roll of the dice" isn't the star of the game. The star is definitely the elemental combinations!

I agree, previous GMTK game jam themes such as "Joined Together" (towers joined together to create new towers) and "Genre Without Mecahinc" (tower defense without shooting) shine more than "Roll of The Dice" here. But I kinda liked the idea of getting random towers for you to figure out new strategies, and sometimes while playtesting the game I had a feeling of "Oh, how am I gonna survive this wave with what I've got? Oh, I've got an idea!". It can make you think more creatively I believe, like in Mini-Motorways, where it spawns new buildings and homes in random places. Forcing you to think in a creative way about how to connect them without breaking the highways you've built so far. It also makes you think ahead of time at the start of the level. Maybe I need to experiment with the game more to figure out how to give those experiences, without making it seem unfair.

I like the idea of a tower defence game that you have to combine different elements, really creative concept

Neat take on a tower defence game! I really like how different towers can combine to make other powers.

A very interesting take on Tower Defense. Nice work :), was a little hard on the stages with fire bois when the random towers weren't giving enough water towers, but I managed to get there eventually :).

Great job. Really like the idea of the towers combining to give new effects.

A well executed tower defense. Good work on coding the mechanics and general 'feel' of the game. Sounds were there but SFX was lacking. The art did the job but was on the simple side.

Really creative take on the tower defense theme!

This is a really creative idea... and for a 48-hour game jam submission, the game is actually pretty excellent! Great job!

A very interesting concept, I had fun experimenting with the tower combos. Definitely impressive that all of this was done within just 48 hours.

Also, I instantly lose even if there's only 1 enemy who passed? I though I had 100 health?
Congrats on finishing the game jam!

Glad that you liked it :) Yup for the art team it was of a lot work and also for our programmer. Thanks for giving your feedback we'll work on the bugs soon

The enemies give damage based on their size/health, so that's why. Thanks for playing!

I like the tower defense theming! I had an idea for a TD for the jam as well... but nothing like this! Overall I liked how the towers get absolutely wild with the more interesting effects.

I have two points of critique:

* I did not understand how towers did damage, and how to influence that damage with other towers. I feel the game did not help me understand this.
* I think the enemies also were affected by the elements in the towers? I couldn't tell. It seemed fire should be countered with water but I didn't have much success trying that strategy. Seemed the most effective strategy was stun + do raw damage.

Strong game, though! I liked how the game got progressively more wild, as good tower defenses should :)

Definitely a very unique take on the Tower Defense genre, but the dice mechanic seems like an afterthought. I like how one round can go many different ways but on as early as Level 2 you could get stuck with an unwinnable round one depending on your rolls. Beautiful art and music, very satisfying gameplay!

Cool concept, The graphics are nice, It's too hard tho.

Edit: itch.io glitched and I posted three comments at once lol

Thanks for playing. Better too hard than too easy tho, right?

The game looks very pretty and has the combo feel to it. What i didnt like was the overlapping and chaotic nature of these turrets. For me, a little bit more time with designing the main mechanic was needed.

The overall experience with your game is good, the visuals really saved it.

Developer

Thanks for playing and for the feedback! What are you referring to as turrets? The buildings you place (towers)? And by overlapping and chaotic what do you mean exactly? You don't like that you can place towers on top of towers very near each other? Or is there something more specific you didn't like?
