Thanks, we really appreciate this kind of detailed feedback! And you're not alone with these comments. While losing focus on one of them for a while is intended to be part of the experience and challenge, it can be very punishing in this iteration of the game for several levels and for new players not expecting it.

While we did want it to feel challenging, we do want to improve the balancing to make it more approachable and fun to a wider audience as we work on the Full Version of the game. Thanks again!

So I'm still a bit weary of trying download only myself, but figured i can give constructive feedback on what I can see in the trailer at least since i think that still has value from a first impressions point of view that may help as far as marketing goes.

I get the sense that the gameplay's main appeal is a unique and tricky to pick up movement system, and fitting around these curves and tight spaces. But I think there is room for improvement in the trailer, as it doesn't showcase this extremely well. I think the trailer should focus more on these elements and show gameplay much sooner, with some quick cuts, before someone loses interest.  Right now it takes half of the trailer's length to get to gameplay and i suspect you'll lose a lot of people before they get there.

I do kind of like the first shot of the worm before zooming out but i do think it lingers for longer than it needs to.  I like the tipping over as a mechanic which drills in the importance of navigating the tight spaces (maybe more of a montage of that could be helpful), BUT the clip chosen looks a bit unforgiving. It looks like it is difficult to tell where the collision is at least in this area (looks like most of the body is clipping through these walls but the corner he gets tripped up on looks like it was barely touched.

Of course, I know this was made in a short period and can see the good work that was put into this. And it looks interesting enough for me to want to try it, but I wanted to look at it from the perspective of a player coming in who might not have that same understanding or care about our tight timeframe.

Hope that helps!

Thanks a lot for taking the time to try it out! We're really glad to hear you stuck with it and found it fun to overcome the challenge.

We already have some updates ready to go (bonus objectives, some new levels and a smoother difficulty curve, quality of life stuff ) for after the jam.  And we're already planning on expanding our ideas into a bigger game. You're welcome to join the discord if you have any interest in following along with our development and/or giving us feedback along the way!

Thanks for playing and for the feedback! We did intend on making the game feel like a challenge and have the player learn from losing at times, but we do understand it can feel really demanding at the start. We are working on some updates aiming to smooth out the difficulty curve a bit for when we can update the game post-jam :D

Cute and clever idea. It admittedly took me a minute or two to understand what I was doing, but then I got into a groove. And I think more visual feedback on each action would be great to have, though I understand the strict time limit we had, especially going at it solo.  But otherwise it's a fun little arcade-style game. Nice work

Curious to see what other ideas you have for this. A part of me wants to see this as part of a larger cozy farm sim with it being a sort of occasional mini game to clean up weeds and plant new seeds.

Thanks! I had to update the invite link (woops!) https://discord.gg/xecPvzHW3m

Hi Jenks! This is a great idea. Our team would love to see all the devs who are going to continue working on their jam games so we can watch how they develop over time.

We just made our own discord as we have many ideas for expanding on our own game, Town Alight, which is a chaotic puzzle-like RTS where you manage up to 6 villagers trying to stop the town from burning down!

Holy guacamole, this is so good! it's so clever and well done. And I was able to beat Level 9!

Yooo thanks for the positive review!! Glad you enjoyed it.

Regarding that bug, thanks for notifying us. Something we'll need to revisit post-jam!

We're honored to get such a compliment! Thank you so much!

Glad you enjoyed it! We had a lot of fun putting it together and already have plenty of ideas to expand on it.

The stress and anxiety is real, even for us! thanks for checking it out :D

Hopefully the level of fun matched the level of anxiety you felt haha. Thanks for playing and and the kind words!

I really love the idea and clearly there was a lot of thought put into building a story and world this takes place in and could see a lot of really interesting ways you can build off of this.

To add some constructive feedback:

- Getting caught in a loop feels pretty rough, as you know. I see their being many challenges in coming up with a balanced solution. Maybe the tile/piece becomes inactive for a few turns or each side has a starting zone that new pieces will swap to when collected?

- It feels like it should auto win upon turning all enemy pieces.

- Often clicking through dialogue and loading levels felt really long.

Very cute and clever puzzle game.  Interested to see what else you can do with this idea

Glad you enjoyed it! And thanks for the feedback, we'll definitely be looking to make some improvements in the future :)

Thank you for playing and for the kind words!

P.S. We loved 'I Will Remember You'!!

Thanks for checking it out! And we really appreciate the feedback, it will really help us to look for ways to improve the experience :D

Thanks for giving it another go! and we appreciate all the feedback, we definitely have some of those things in mind to fix it up and improve upon it further after the jam!

Wow, really impressed with all of this. Very interesting story and i love the pixel lighting effect.  Engaging mystery game and I would love to see a full game like this.. Awesome job!

Love the idea, fits well with the theme in a really clever way and I found it pretty fun. It reminded me of a flash game I played ages ago. I did run into some issues where a kid would just become locked on to an object meaning i couldn't clean either of them, they were just constantly spreading to each other.

very simple and easy to pick-up game, but surprisingly addicting. Music is super catchy too, I may be whistling that later

Thanks for checking it out and the positive review! Hope you had fun with it. That Mayor really gets on our nerves too >:(

You really captured the Wario Ware style minigames well and with really cute art and animations. would love to see more minigames in the future

Yeah it was definitely a short amount of time to try to get so much in the game in time, but awesome, i'll keep an eye out for updates!

Wow, such a good job! Paper notes aesthetic is terrific, and some nice ideas in here already like the jumping off the page and not being able to see for a moment. Plus, very artistic and beautifully told story.  At times it felt a bit too fast and too precised. And slopes could be a little janky feeling, but hey, that's slopes for ya.

Really interested to see how you expand on this.

It's all fun and games until Panic Level 3! such a fun and silly game. something really satisfying about it. Really loved the achievements, and can tell you had a lot of ideas for expanding on this based on the Lexicon.

Had some fun with this arcadey shooter, would be great to see it get expanded with some powerups or abilities to unlock

Really clever idea and I like how it takes away some of the more frustrating aspects of how precise golf games can be. Love that there are more putters to unlock!

I seriously LOVE the art style! very cute idea and really impressive how much you have in here for the jam. Needs balancing for sure after the jam, and it feels strange for the game to default to recommending half the available rat colony when it needs far less than that to complete a building in one day. But there's a TON of potential here, nice work!

Really clever idea for the theme, and i love what you were able to do with the colors despite the small pixel count. Nice work!

Had a lot of fun with this! feels really good to control. and it looks great for such minimalist design. Great Job!

First time for me! It was a ton of work but it was definitely worth it in the end. I just started learning pixel art and godot in the 2nd half of last year and this gave me a lot more confidence. And I got to work with an amazing team. Very proud of what we managed to put together!

Glad to hear others are also having a good first jam experience.
