Had fun to play this game on my mobile together with my kids. (passing the phone every failed attempt)
Only thing regarding the controlls: somehow it should be clearer, which arrow will fire which booster. So many times i had to pass the mobile because i simply expected the other booster to fire. :)
Great entry! Could be a good casual mobile game!
Thank you for this great and useful review!
Yes, the commands are read from the state of the buttons as soon as the execute-button is pressed. I even thougth about disabling this one, but not the others. I somehow like the idea of changing the program in between. This should be possible by spending some (or even many) of the robots power.
I initially planned a countdown for the programming-phase. somehow that plan got lost on the way.
And i really agree with the games pace. it should be faster.
Thank you very much!
Yes, smaller levels and more of them would be much better.
Starting with a tutorial.
And having different tasks to fulfill.
And more different elements, that affect the gameplay (pushers, rotating elements, or even POWER-UPS?)
And NPC-robots that move with a purpose (currently they just move randomly)
Also, i guess currently one of the most fun parts of the gameplay does not shine through: the other robots will push you around. That should make the planning of your steps a bit more chaotic.
I like the "asteroids"-basis mixed with the "find your way" gameplay.
I managed to finish it in the 6th attempt, those damn black holes... *grrrr :)
Nice clean graphics (cool, you used SVG as i see on github) and soundeffects. The explosion particles could last longer. I guess, you are calculating the lifetime of the particles based on fixed values not delta-time-dependent (as i did not find any calculation of "time since last update" in your code)
But its a good game!
Very nice graphics and game atmosphere. a bit short maybe but thats ok. i managed to lit all 4 jars :)
I'd love to see more going on on the screen. the fireflies could circle around the player, once "captured", the player could leave a sparkling trail, when loaded with the light-power, etc. such things make games much more immersive
But: a really nice game!
