True, many of the hacking games I've played are primarily in terminal but have some GUI stuff throughout regardless, or their GUI looks aesthetically like the terminal while still being a proper interface.

It's a great game and you have a lot to be proud of, I enjoyed it!

I love games like this, I used to play Hacking Simulator / Darksigns and games like Hacknet and Hackmud, the interface works really well although I found myself trying to use the up arrow to go back and edit my last command repeatedly but not being able to XD, maybe that's more points for immersion than anything.

The one thing I really didn't like was I felt like it was sort of a mess with all the menus a bit. I was much more of a fan of Hacknets style where it's all in terminal and I feel like thats the vibe people want in games like this more than anything maybe?

Overall amazing I always wanted to make a game like this but I always got intimidated out knowing how much I would have to make and worrying about stuff breaking so you did a really good job for a game jam.

Fun game with good controls. I sat on the bird for more than most people probably would XD

My heart has in fact not recovered XD

Glad you used the skip button to at least check out the rest of the levels, there's many here who I think haven't and I wish they would have, it's why I added it after all :P

It definitely more loosely fits the theme where some of the levels have secrets / unobvious ways to complete them but it's just what I thought of at the time :P I think I also intended for it to be more puzzley than it ended up being.

Thanks for the review and your experience, all that kind of stuff definitely helps me get better at making things just knowing what people like!

Thanks!

Here's my game.

It's definitely a looser interpretation, but I had an idea and went with it!

Thanks for playing!

The timing can definitely be tight, my advice to you is to move when the object moves in front of you since by the time you actually start moving, the obstacle will be gone.

It's definitely a game meant to be difficult though and not every level is for everyone, feel free to skip the timing based levels, I have many friends who did just that while playing.

Thanks for checking the game out!

Glad you enjoyed it!

Thanks!

Yeah if I updated or re-did this game I would absolutely have a trigger that would reset the levels at the start of them. Thanks for trying the game out!

Here's my game, in the style of some older flash games I used to play where you have to get through 100 levels.

Fun little interesting game, would be cool to see more and also when selecting lasers I had a hard time seeing the X button on the window to leave that selection, I liked the shield effects as well.

Fun but short, I recommend playing the game in fullscreen and wish I had from the start :P

I enjoyed it at first but quickly my finger actually started hurting from the amount of bow shooting I was having to do XD, figuring out I secretly had a dash and how to swap weapons was interesting though and I liked all of the audio and graphics.

Neat game! I'll admit I mostly figured out early on you can spam rockets to jet to the top of the screen and ended up doing that for a lot of levels but I would gladly have played another 50 levels in this game because just playing it was enjoyable.

Woo I defeated the Giant Box!

Short but interesting, I'll definitely be using opengameart.org to get some music for my game next time. For a first project it's excellent but I did notice sometimes when I was stomping enemies I would take damage back sometimes even though I clearly kill them at the same time.

I actually didn't even notice you used the Small Palette challenge and just thought the game had a weird checkerboard aesthetic which just shows to how excellently you used your available colors to even go so far as giving an illusion of the character being yellow.

I got stuck on the area right after being able to create plants and wasn't able to get any further but the sound design and art in this game are so likeable, was really fun to play and I'll probably come back later.
