Playing through thoughts as I progress
Holy crap that ghost attacking me on the 1st level jumpscare really got me, was not expecting that lol, already the sound design here is pretty great.
When I craft with 9 raw gems unlike most other recipes I can put other things in and still see the finished product, when I craft with that stuff in I end up losing all of those materials. This seems to be the case for recipes like the shortsword as well, it should probably just remove stuff not actually used in the crafting.
I managed to craft both the longsword and the pick scythe which is necessary to beat the game, I tried mining some of the 3rd level stuff but a guard came out and killed me because I was too slow.
I did this a couple more times re-grinding through the same stuff which made me hate the menu system and the amount of spam clicking I had to do (though as a coder myself I can definitely appreciate the work that probably went into it) before I realized I was moving slow because I was trying to use the longsword.
This is basically when I realized the longsword is absolutely worthless, +1 damage for basically being required to swap weapons to use it so you can move faster is not a trade off that was worth it for me, so I pretty much stuck to the shortsword since you move incredibly fast.
At this point I just wanted to see the final boss at least one time so I knew what I was going into at least, so I went in with a shortsword and pick scythe in a run just to see what was up with it, with the power of my insane speed with the shortsword I was able to kite around all the enemies and kill the boss without taking a single hit actually. I wasn't aware I was being timed but my time was 282.94 seconds.
Conclusion
Overall a pretty short and interesting game, judging by the comments I may have been the only one here to actually beat it?
Exploring the crafting reminded me a bit of when I was first starting out in minecraft as a kid and was too ignorant to use a wiki or something so I pretty much relied on guesswork and what my brother could figure out as well. I would have had a lot more fun exploring it if I didn't have to destroy my index finger clicking so much to do it though.
It was fun figuring stuff out blind though and it definitely has a unique style for what it is, I may come back at some point to explore some of the other recipes and see what I missed, there's gotta be a healing item I didn't discover with those flowers...
Edit: For the hell of it I ran a speedrun with my method since it seemed pretty fast and managed to beat the game in 124.02 seconds, while doing this I noticed a bug where if you have your inventory open while going through a door it moves the inventory to the point where you can't use it but not actually off your screen.
