Game description
A 2D platformer game - don't get caught in the loop.
Theme interpretation
When I was growing up as a kid, I'd go to other kids' homes to take a turn on their Nintendo. Neighborhood kids would often tell me about a "secret warp" - that often led me to losing my turn on Mario or whatever other game. This game is an homage to all the "secret warp" tips I got.
Wildcards used (optional)

Feels like commander keen (especially with the floaty jump), good music, but I'd like to have had something more to do, more interactions early on and more terminals that do things. A good start, just needs to be expanded now with more mechanics. Good work on the palete dithering
You got all the elements of a good platformer here. The movements and animation are fluid, the controls are precise and the level design is interesting.
I also like the work you did on the graphic style. I would only flag that the dirt texture tends to be a bit flickering, I think you can solve that by simply decreasing the resolution (making the pixel slightly bigger) a little bit.
Good job :)
Totally right on the dirt, I had already swapped out for bigger pixels, and I can probably have it go up a scale more. Thanks for playing the game.
I especially loved the music — it’s so catchy, it sticks in your head! The cheerful graphics bring a nostalgic vibe, and the gameplay is a fun and straightforward platformer. Truly enjoyable!
Thanks! Yeah once I started making the sprites for the game (though not nearly as cool) it reminded me of Commander Keen - oh the good ol' CGA days.
Nice 2D platformer! I enjoyed the gameplay and thought the secret warps were cool. Solid work!
As someone who also obsessed over Mario’s secret warps during childhood, I really enjoyed this little game and it brought back great memories. Very cool!
Thanks for playing!
I found the warp on level 2. Both the music and the checkerboard graphics were pleasant and made for an excellent atmosphere. Not sure if this was intentional or not, but I found that falling into a pit didn't reset my health. Overall, a very nice entry, especially for your first Godot game.
Yeah. If the game went longer, I'd certainly think about what ups the health. Thanks!
A fun project with surprisingly enjoyable visuals and music—they perfectly capture that retro vibe. Adding micro-events to the gameplay, like in Super Mario, would take it to the next level. For now, it’s already engaging and enjoyable. Great work!
Hey! Thank you! You're certainly right about the the micro-events.
That was fun. I love the checkerboard style kind of feels like an old tv but selectively applied gives a surreal vibe. Especially his shoes, those hypnotized me. It was fun to find the warps. Solid use of a limited palette and nice first game in Godot.
I appreciate you checking out the game. Thanks!
Fun little game! I really like what you did with the checkerboard colors
Thanks!
Cute little game! I also only realized you did the 4 color palette cause I checked the description. It's not a bad thing tho, quite literally means that the art and vibe is complete, and hard to notice this! I actually really likes these game jam style arts, so big thumbs up on that. The game feels complete, and the character animations are pretty good! Good job, simple yet fun little platformer game!
Thank you!
Congrats on your first game in Godot ! Like the first comment said, I also didn't notice you only used 4 colors. Really cool trick with the checkerboard pattern ! If I may suggest something, I think the hints for the secret warp could point to a more specific hole in the level. It could make the game more interesting instead of having to try each hole one by one. Still, it's only a minor thing and finding secret warps back then definitely required a lot of trial and error. Overall really good job !
Thanks! I appreciate the feedback, tried to use the particle effects to give a hint, but I think it's too subtle a difference... the limitations of 4 colors. I'll have to further tweak that idea
Cool game!
Thank you for playing, Illarn.
Wasn't the among the gratest platformers I checked so far but all of it works and for just 4 colors it looks pretty good.
I appreciate you checking it out.
Short but interesting, I'll definitely be using opengameart.org to get some music for my game next time. For a first project it's excellent but I did notice sometimes when I was stomping enemies I would take damage back sometimes even though I clearly kill them at the same time.
I actually didn't even notice you used the Small Palette challenge and just thought the game had a weird checkerboard aesthetic which just shows to how excellently you used your available colors to even go so far as giving an illusion of the character being yellow.
Thank you for the feedback. I agree - there's something about the mechanism for stomping on enemies that I can learn better.
