This is simply my opinion:
Theme: I don't see how this game is related to discovery and exploration since you don't really explore, you just follow the arrow to the direction of the item. If just the arrow had had been deleted I would have gave it 5 stars. But I sadly can't give it more than 2 stars.
Fun: The game was fun to play, I would find myself playing and enjoying this often. However it really comes to be kind of doing the same thing as the level design doesn't change through levels. Therefore 4 stars.
Graphics: The artwork was polished and everything was very promising. I have not a single thing to complain about. Although I will ignore the fact some animations are missing, maybe that adds to the charm. 5 stars.
Audio: At first it was nice and I thought, this deserves 5 stars. However after playing it over and over it becomes irritating to the point I don't find pleasure but pain on hearing the soundtrack. No complains from me about SFX, nice work on that area. 2 stars.
Originality: This is a combination of a lot of concepts and it makes it unique. Like this really is not what you see very often but you know everything isn't new. Overall 4 stars.
This is simply my personal opinion:
Theme: It was very related to the theme and exploration was a good added touch to the game. 5 stars.
Fun: The game itself was fun to play but the broken controls and the fact you can't progress futher than the first checkpoint makes me give it 3 stars.
Controls: They need a lot of love and work, first of all jump makes you slide off platform. Secondly screen changing doesn't work properly and even if you moved on to another part of the map, camera is still stuck on the underground part. The enemies are weird on their moves and spawn everytime you change camera even if killed. 1 star.
Graphics: I enjoyed them and they fit the style. The animations were top-notch and I have no complains about them. 5 stars.
Audio: It was good but it lacked some sfx could have boosted the overall. The soundtrack just makes me want to chill and hear it all along a lot of times. 4 stars.
Originality: I didn't understood the whole concept of the game but it seems metroid related and thats it. There isn't much except it's a metroid platform, like something to shine and stand out. 3 stars.
This is purely my opinion:
Theme: This was somewhat related to discovery by the simple fact you need to find the little unsleepy imps. But it's only that therefore can't give it more than 3 stars.
Fun: This game wasn't fun at all, first of all because of the broken mechanics and secondly because finding the little demons is a nightmare. There is almost no difference or highlight on what is a demon and whats not. 1 star.
Controls: They are completely broken, the grunt sometimes work and others doesn't. Also when you grunt you keep the running speed still, therefore you become a skater on grunting mode. Also the jump on platform sometimes works and others doesn't. Definetly needs an overall remake or proper testing. 1 star.
Graphics: They are proper but need some rework on colours and the pixel art needs to be less saturated, specially on the horns of the enemies. 3 stars.
Audio: It can be made by the best musicians, mozard itself, but will never be good if it doesn't exist. The game lacks soundtrack and any SFX which isn't the grunt. 1 star.
Originality: The game just took the hide and seek feature and combined it with simple platforming. 1 star.
Theme: The game connects with discovery and exploration very well. I enjoyed getting through all spots and paths. And even after playing twice, it never gets tiring. 5 stars.
Fun: The game was super fun, I enjoyed how broken the controls were and overall I liked how the run and walljump worked. 5 stars.
Controls: The controls work but they are very explotable and even broken as heck, they still do the job. However there is a couple, ahem, a lot of things to fix about them, like gangbanged by a couple of bats, infinite walljump, insane running speed... 2 stars.
Graphics: The background is clearly taken out of internet and rescalated. I know this because as an artist I notice the mixels and I happened to find a similar thing yesterday. Anyway, second thing that makes me downvote it is the 2d vectorial enemies combined with pixel art. 2 stars.
Audio: It's pretty good but there is no soundtrack. Therefore I will give it a maximum of 3 stars as I can't review something that doesn't exist.
Originality: Let's be fair and square, this a platformer with super large level design so the broken controls look less broken. 1 star.
This is my only my point of view on the game:
Theme: The gameplay is pretty straight forward and even if there is some other paths to take it doesn't give me that feeling of discovering. Honestly, this would benefit from more pathways and dead ends or paths to treasures. 3 stars.
Fun: This was a blast to play and despite not being frustrating, as intended, it was nice. 5 stars.
Controls: They are good, just walking needs more polishing, needs to reach that point where you walk and not feel like a slug. However shooting is completely broken, no matter how much or how long you shoot enemies, they don't die. Yet they can still kill you. 3 stars.
Graphics: They were pretty good, I liked the chibi style of the artist and can't say anything bad about it. 5 stars.
Audio: It was pretty nice and the soundtrack was on spot. I wouldn't down it for anything except the SFX which still need lot of work. The shooting sound is awful to hear and the other things just don't exist. Like no enemy sfx, no move sfx... 3 stars
Originality: This was just a platformer with some tight jumps so I saw nothing really new here. 1 star.
This is solely my opinion:
Theme: There is not much exploration to do as the path is straight forward. I understand we are in darkness but the only thing referencing to discovery is the rocket to see the monsters. And even that gets progressively removed. Therefore can't give it more than 3 stars.
Fun: It was super fun to play and I really enjoyed the overall experience. Specially fighting the enemies and moving around. 5 stars.
Controls: They are tight and good but the portal has some immortality glitches and enemies seem to have more life in darkness than revealed. I needed three-four shots to take them down on dark and one shot on light. 4 stars.
Sound: There is no soundtrack therefore can't give it much thoughts. Although this game reminds me of FNAF mini-games. Therefore it might not need it. Anyway SFX is cool for the style but the soundtrack lack removes some charm. Therefore 3 stars.
Originality: It's something I haven't seen before in games but I do see one or two mini-games of this. Therefore excluding exceptions, I give it 5 stars.
This is only my opinion:
Theme: Very related to the theme and I enjoy exploring and discovering stuff in the dungeon. 5 stars without much doubt.
Fun: It was fun in a way but it lacked quite a few other features that could have made it a better experience. First of all a monster chasing us, a small mini-game, etc... Therefore I gave it 3 stars because I just found it a solve mystery, walking sim.
Controls: Deserve five stars, are smooth and don't glitch out. 5 stars.
Graphics: They are good and I don't have any objection, still it needs context, I only saw a lot of lumps, dead demons? etc... Therefore 4 stars.
Audio: It's perfect but there is only sfx, nothing else. Therefore can't give it more than 3 stars.
Originality: It's not new but it's not seen often in games. Therefore 4 stars.
Hey, thanks for passing by!
I'm here in my quest to help a team and I specialise in all kinds of fields except music. Nonetheless I have plenty of experience to compensate that lack in fields of writing, game testing, proofreading, coding, pixel art and design. I helped to make six games which you can find in my portfolio: https://merly23.itch.io/
As an artist I made several packs of sprites such as https://merly23.itch.io/fantasy-characters-sprites-game-cards-pack and https://merly23.itch.io/piecewise-bundle
On the writing field I wrote around seven stories and many more I never really published. Mainly I wish I could focus on it but everyday life is tough to balance with writing. Anyway you can find most of the stories here: https://www.royalroad.com/profile/62596
Talk you soon and hope to assist you on the visual novel!
First of all, this is just my opinion, anyone can disagree and it will still be fine
The game is fun to play and for a first game this is decent. Good job with the level design too. Nevertheless I didn't find nothing incongruous in the level, I mean everything seems pretty typical in fantasy, maybe the skeletons and the nature could be related. I mean death doesn't fit in an environment filled of life.
The controls are really good but sometimes I feel like they are a bit sloppy, I was moving right and fell on the cliff because the stop acceleration didn't allow me to stop in time. The wall jump nonetheless it's decent and I enjoyed it. As side note, the attack feels too slow for how fast enemies attack.
Difficulty wasn't hard, but neither wasn't easy so I appreciate that it was balanced.
Music and SFX fit mostly well but I feel, personally, a music more fantasy like and chirps of birds, as we are in the forest, could have given the project a full potential boost. Overall pretty good anyway.
Obstacle wise I believe you could have done better, aside from the slopes to jump on, the enemies make it hard for you to advance. Not because they are too hard to kill but because it seems they instantly damage you. You can't really close in and attack, in the meantime you might have lost half of your life in the process of killing one.
Graphic wise and keeping in mind it's your first time, I really liked it. You did a very good job on that side.
Overall I give it a 4/5.
Yeah, you were the first! Thanks a lot for rating it! ☆*:.。.o(≧▽≦)o.。.:*☆
On the post jam I will tweak the controls and make change to camera to avoid landing on enemies. Also maybe add more improvements to level design and new enemies too (→_→)
About life gauge, I will also see how to do it but will be a little tough m(_ _;m)
(Maybe I have seen it too...) Σ(O_O)
You don't really need the double jump there I believe, all you have to do is jump right left right left. Yet I definetly see your point, will attempt to fix it i guess. Although as mentioned, I'm really bad at coding so I might not find out why the jump doesn't register.
Also I fixed the bugs you noticed, the enemy stuck in ground was a really bad placed collider and the jump was to add to the challenge but if it is really annoying I might just remove it. About visibility, I will attempt to increase the camera size. Thanks a lot for the feedback though, it really helps me.
The new pack should have fixed most of the things you mentioned. The rest will come post jam >.......<
which parts were frustrating? I could attempt to fix them in the short time >...>
Also glad you liked it and sorry if the level was too hard, I may have fucked up with that part XD
Later on edit:
I saw the issue giving it one last test and it seems the jump force got reduced by some reason when exporting. Either way I fixed the problem and added new stuff. Thanks a lot and hope you like the new experience.
If you are making money out of the sprites then yes it does count as commercial use. This also includes using the sprites and adding ads. Be sure to read this to propely understand between commercial use and non commercial use:

Hey! I was developing a game which you might like!

I was in the team of development so your decision is key here. Hope you find it fun and enjoy it as much as we did.
