Well done everyone! Thanks Jon for hosting the jam and the workshop!

Short n sweet! tbh I would have liked a bit more, definitely got my curiosity on for the story

Thanks! I'm a biology nerd and really want to bring more of of my fascinations with nature into gaming and storytelling.

Well done for a first game! Very melancholic!

lol I thought the title was too big a hint. Glad I re-wrote the description then!
Thanks for checking it out!

Ooooh ok I may well have missed that part! I did find it really weird to be prompted to choose someone but then it went to "oh no, you're alone now!" hehe
(I too am a beginner dev so I am also learning)

I'll try to find you on discord, are you on the ravel server ? I use the same username on discord, just without the space.

I really enjoyed the writing for this! Super eerie and suspenseful. I could imagine and expanded story would get really psychological and/or philosophical.

Oh I adore the concept of this game. Adding art at a later stage will definitely enhance it, I rather like silence for narrative games, music can get so distracting and overbearing. It made me very nostalgic (I lived in Japan for a year) and they definitely have a deep appreciation for the seasons. This is such a positive-feel good game and each option feels like a grounding exercise. Lovely!

I got stuck with the conversations, it's a pity you can't seem to go back to explore more dialogue options. Not sure what happened but after I visited 2 rooms the game suddenly end? And I couldn't choose a person? I don't know how to explain it lol.
The janky art is entertaining, well done for throwing that together :D

Yeah, there's definitely some janky bits that I have no idea how to fix. I think where ever I had conditionals it throws a value onto the screen and it's not something I figured out how to fix (hide) in time :(

hehe saaame. Mine has a few annoying typos that I only caught after the deadline.

Thank you! I did not have time to make the art I wanted to make and I can't update until judging is over lol
The joys of a jam to make janky shit XD

Hehehe oh boy how to make a person paranoid!

Love the idea, there are a number of typos and spelling errors that you might want to fix at some point.

First playthrough I think I got caught in a loop. 2nd playthrough I found a bad ending? I'm not sure, the writing style made it so ambiguous. Also really like the concept.

This is punk rock as hell

It's so simple but 100 000% speaks to everyone who has had a beloved pet. My Abyssinian cross crossed the rainbow bridge 3 years ago from some unknown illness. I'm still not over having to have said goodbye...

This hit hard.

Nice one! Admittedly I went through the story on my desktop pc, not a tablet device. It would be amazing to see a desktop version. Not sure if it is a thing on a tablet version but the web version on a pc has loads of eerie parallax effects. Not sure if it was intentional or not.

Rock on XD I'd hoped for the option to name my band Snake Bite and Dysentery

I really enjoyed the wild choose your own adventure vibes! I would just say that visually you might want to find another way to display the text, it's really difficult to read against the background.

Love that you can knock stuff down and be very cat!

Really like the concept of the game! Please get in touch with me if you want to take this idea/game further, I'd love to help where I can (I have an eco science background).

The art for this is great, haven't played the updated version that is without the white square yet. The parallax is a bit hectic though and I got a bit of motion sickness while clicking around. There was a few visual glitches but considering time restraints well done!

Apart from using ink, I really struggled to see how the story relates to the theme. Maybe I just didn't understand it? Would love to see this fleshed out with some graphics and music. Consider doing an updated version once the jam is over!

Very cute and straight forward game! Well done for a 1st game!

Great art! I found the mechanics a bit wonky initially, but once I actually understood what to do , it was fine.

Really like the art! I've only done one play-through so far and there's a bit where I'm getting stuck in a loop. will try again later and see if I can get past it :D

😂🤣😂🤣
This is thoroughly silly. AWESOME writing, the "lack" of music and 4th wall break add to the silly. I'm a sucker for nonsense! Well done!

Yeah, would have been better with the secondary gameplay. But the limited play is also a feature of visual novels, so perhaps the game genre just isn't your cuppa? Thank you for giving it a go!

So creepy! Love the tone that you get with the art/music combo. The constantly depleting abilities of the character is an interesting mechanic but a good mirror for the increasing infestation. A tightening noose around the neck?

oh, lol. that might've just been me misunderstanding the guideline then! XD maybe I'm the only one who did that. I thought it was an intentional part of the game haha

There's a bit of a continuity error in the writing. I noticed for the username bit you have to have a 2 word username entered but once you get to "chatting" with your "matches" they all have  1 word usernames. I like the concept though, really gives off the vibe of that advice that was floating around a few years ago of what questions to ask to get closer to people.

It would be great if you have time to make a more branching narrative to make it where answers determine which group you end up in.

That was the original plan. Load shedding really messed with our work time :(

Update:

I have buddied up! I am not really able to help other teams. All the best!

Reposting from discord just in case!
I'm a Cape Town based artist looking for a person/people to team up with for the jam! I've co-written some comics in the past and done 2 other game jams here on itch.io...

If you're also CT based I am able to meet up. I just have something else on at the time when the opening is happening.

you can find me in other online spaces: https://linktr.ee/milowildcat

Ah, that happens! Time escapes us all and we don't get to implement all the ideas that we have for stuff.

super simple and fun! It wasn't all that clear to me that I could roll the dice as much as I wanted until I found a word lol

This house is haunted! And tiresome! Lol great game

Really awesome game considering the time available! Loved the character and general artwork :) Would be awesome to get a bit more backstory for each character in the dialogue so that it fits a bit more neatly with the title :D One nit-pick from me (only because I'm from the country of origin) roiboss is misspelled. It should be rooibos :)

Thank you! Yeah since the jam ended I've had some ideas for sorting out some of the issues around accidentally clicking through the background instead of your item etc. It's somewhat funny and annoying when a solution to a problem only comes to you after the deadline XD But glad you enjoyed it and thanks for checking it out :D
