I actually did click the story button on the first time I played, but still did not understand anything either. I'll check it again with your description

Or maybe some parts of the ground could be more enlightened, for me the problem for example was on level 2, I could not see the ground, I just saw black everywhere on the lower part of my screen and did not see gaps. Or maybe have some kind of "leds on the ground" a bit like in cinemas ? I don't mind the room being very dark, but I mind not understanding where the ground is ^^
Very nice to see multiple people doing voice acting, and the graphical universe is very good ! I know you only had one week, but maybe some level adjustments between music and voices could have been very good, I wanted to hear the music more, but if I put the volume higher, voices would blast me ! I think the music stopped when there was dialogs, maybe it could have continued (obviously best thing would be some high pass filter, or removing instruments conflicting with the voice spectral content when there's dialog, but in one week that's too much details).
Another small audio detail : the jump sound is maybe a bit too "early gaming" for a game with background parralax and voice acting ? when I was playing, I found the jump sound too 8-bit and low, it felt like it would be more a "fall on ground" sound too, I think in this case, no jump sound, or something more like in Super Mario would be a bit more appropriate (just my personal taste though)
Not sure what to think about the minuscule creatures you can interact with, the idea is cool, but maybe there could be some hint for the player ? almost missed that ! Like at first encounter, the game could zoom on it, or maybe the dialog makes it explicit like "what ? you don't see me ? I'm up there ! behind you ! in the tree ! why are you squinting your eyes ? I'm not THAT small" or something
Cool game, nice graphic touch. I think the problem is that you spend a bit too much time looking at the screen, just waiting for the ball to do it's job, not being active. Either maybe having a bit easier levels that ramp up in difficulty, or maybe some mechanic that you can activate while the ball is bouncing ? Nice little game other that that
it's a bit sad that you can only shoot on the horizontal directions, in my experience I had to run around a lot before I can shoot, and with the ennemies hitboxes corenring you easily, you had to be even more careful and take more time escaping ennemies. The idea with humanity is original, but running around so much (at least in my experience) is a bit annoying.
It's a nice touch to have a cinematic for a game jam, we don't see that often ! But maybe having a music for the game instead of the menu would have been better ? Or at least keep the menu music going during the game ? To me, 99% of games feel empty without music (except a very few exceptions), I know it's only one week, but maybe just repeat the menu music ?
In my experience, hitting spacebar stops the mirror, but 1-2 seconds later? that's a bit weird, not sure how it should be, but sometimes I hit the spacebar multiple times and the mirror kept moving. I know deigning ennemies and sprites can take some time, but maybe the game could have been a bit more beautiful just with some simple decor ? Like some texture to the ground. Or maybe some basic assets, you're allowed to download and use them as long as you give the credit for them, it take some time to download, but not too much, and could have been an easy way to make the gamme prettier without adding too much work
Cool idea, but I couldn't figure out how to use the gun, I saw the tooltip to grapb it, to equip it, but then... how do you use it ? Could not advance after that, unfortunately. I like the art though a bit simple (for a game made in a week, honestly it's really ok, you understand the different parts of the game. Maybe just, at first I didn't realize very quickly I had the mirrors in th background, maybe there should be a way to make it clearer that the player can interact ith them, because they are not huge, and they seem part of the decor, not a part of the gameplay.) For the music, there's just a very simple melody with no chords and a basic beat, honestly the melodody is really ok, but with no chords, arpeggio or counter melody, it feels a bit too empty. And maybe you want a soundtrack that reflects the aesthetic which is vintage, so the 8-bit sound and drums are on point, but with just at least one bass line under it or a chord progression, it could really shine I think !
A very very good concept, and good art, this really feels like it could be a full game with a lot of length and different universe ! I don't know what to think with the slow movement and high jump, it "artificially" adds difficulty, but it also makes the game interesting because we're not really used to this... so not necessarily bad.
Also, first time I tried it, I was blocked at the beginning. Then saw a comment on the itch page and understood, and then I could finish the game ! so at the beginning, yeah it's not very clear I think. But once you get the base mechanic, It's very good.
Some line make the cgravity change, some not, it depend (like the one at the left of the beginning, works only to go from inverted gravity to normal gravity), and it's frustrating having to suicide yourself to find out. I think they need some visual indication, like color or something to get a sense of the "direction", because it's a very cool mechanic that it doesn't work in every direction !
I also think some blocks could be a bit clearer visually : it's not natural for that big block that on the top side you can walk on it, but on the bottom side... it's behind you ? but other blocks don't behave that way, honestly it was a bit disturbing from time to time. Also, that dark corner with the shadow, looks good, but when you have to jump from the edge, and the background is black, you see nothing and it's frustrating, maybe could be a lighter shade of dark, more grey-ish ?
I'm making lots of criticism, but bear in mind that I really loved the game, very very great concept !
neat idea, maybe the loooong jump could be slightly faster to make the game a bit more dynamic ? The four different levels with bigger difficulty are cool, I was motivated to finish the game, but maybe the character is a bit too slow ? just an idea. Because sometimes you're like "Ok, I know how to solve this" and just after "ugh but I have to move everything slowly, that's gonna take a full minute"
Mmhh, controls don't work for me, I just can go left and right, is that normal ? I have azerty keyboard, so tested with the W and A but got no jump, switched to english detection but still no jump, I'm stuck at the beginning. Didn't see any other controls mentioned. is it unfinished in terms of controls ?
Cool music game, the first one I play of the ones created for the jam ! as people said, yeah having no punishment or feedback when hitting makes it a bit less enticing. Also, it seemed like some hits are not very well synchronized, have you done it manually ? If so, I guess it would be nice to create a tool for yourself that calculates the exact pixels where the character coming left to right should be positioned ; it really seemed (even more so at the end) that some specific hits are not in time
Very slick running animation, the dash is very satisfying, but I think on keyboard the controls are a bit wonky in some cases, as you said it's better for controller, so I guess that's part of the reason. The background is cool, and the idea could be digged a bit deeper. Found a minor bug, where you get stuck between a brittle platform and a hard wall, you character stays "floating" in a weird way until the brittle platform breaks. Lacks in terms of audio, I know there's a lot to do in one week, but even just one jump sound found in 3 minutes on internet would change a lot I think. I like the visual ambiance !
Cool idea, but the SFX audio level is a real problem, I know you don't have a lot of time, but this is not just a small detail, as it's absolutely very very loud, and if you lower the volume, then the voice is indistinguishable. The levels in the tutorial part are good, and the time slowing is an interesting mechanic
So, I never play these games so maybe there's some "codes" that i don't know of, but I read all the things, and I couldn't do the exams, so I knew I had to unlock the gates, and it asked for password, and... had absolutely not a clue about where to search for. Like the seed gate is the first gate, so do you find answer in the first file that you can read ? And if so, what indicates you where to probably find the password ? I searched for 10-15 minutes I would say, but I only read people sending letters, so.... don't know what I'm supposed to do with that
Ah yes, another very very minute detail, maybe it depends on screen resolution, but the healthbar and jump count at the top is very small, maybe you could make them slightly bigger ? I realised there was a "jumps remaining" 1 minute after unlocking it for example. Or maybe it could be a bit more bright, or animated or something, here I feel that it is a liiiiiitle bit too small (but still absolutely usable)
Wow, simply amazing, the graphics are clean, the level design is absolutely on point with these details where you can fall back to the start if not careful, nice little tooltips, the background decor helping you to aim... music is also very nice. And you even got more than one level, with other mechanics, after that sooo clean first level. If I want to nitpick on the smallest detail, maybe some visual elements could have ever so slightly more contrast between the platforms, and the decor. Also, sometimes the platforms on which you walk have different colors, maybe it's not needed ? In the first level I thought different colors would have different use, but I don't think they do.
Simply a very great game, extremely well polished for a one week Game Jam. Congrats !
Really cool games ! The art is nice, there is a caaaaaaaat (but you can't pet the cat so -1 point (jk) ) , the mechanic is interesting and the difficulty was reallt well managed during the level, going slowly rising ! It could really be expanded, with a bit more graphic and music details, and be a cool game. Just a bit sad after I reached second level, got back to main menu and started again from level one... starting again from level two would have been a bit more rewarding, but other than thatn the vibe is cool too
Cool little game ! there's not a lot of controls that you can manipulate (only A and D, right ? I didn't find any use for W and S), and you don't need to tap the keys to add difficulty, so it's very fun but quickly you get the thing going, maybe there should be one or two more mechanics (I know a week is not a long time so congrats for making this, but for the future maybe ?)
Other than that, you have the score count, good animations and graphics, music is cool, a veeeery clear and cool and smart way to show the health (I think), it really "flows" how you understand the game. Short and simple, but very good !
Wow, the music is an absolute banger, I think with a game like that you can increase your game up to 26 bald eagles per glazed donut to go 100% america big guns 80s vibe. Yeah the music is loud, I didn't mind but it's always nice to have a volume slider in the menu or something. Glad there was multiple levels, I had fun throughout each one of them ! I got one really weird reflection on hitting an angle (angle was pointing to the top right, my bullet came from top left of the angle, going bottom right... and bounced back top left, but that happened only once)
Really digged that one, the music is so cool !
I tried playing the game, but there was no description on itch to explain the basic idea of the game, and after having started, messed around a bit, clicked here and there, I did not understand the following points :
- what are those yellow things that you shoot but don't act like bullets, more like magic ?
- what are you supposed to do ?
- the dialogue with the character got stuck even when I came back to the workd, I don't know if it is normal
About the newspapers, there were a lot of typos, and even though the newspaper seemed to be more funny than serious, maybe you could push the "funny" even more maybe by using lolcat speak or something ? There's maybe more to the game, but without help I couldn't figure it out
I like the idea of a game where you fight depression and anxiety, that's original. Now, in terms of controls it's a bit weird that when you shoot, and the move while shooting, it changes the direction where you shoot, that feels like a weird behaviour. Transition between the two levels was cool though !
Nice graphics ! I like the art and the idea, maybe the sound effects could be a little bit more transformed ? Also, I find the controls a bit weird, (on azerty keyboard, M and T are more far apart than on qwerty, but still, why not left / right click, or two closer keys ?)
If you want to continue working on it, I realized that when you jump and use the M key while jumping, the light array disconnects from your character and does its own life on another part of the screen.
Maybe in terms of artistic choices, it's a bit weird to have on one side, a brightful and cute character, while evolving in a very dark dungeon ?
Cool game ! I definitely could this be expanded and have more levels and mechanics.
- It really lacks even a bit of sound, maybe you could have found some assets online and then wrote credits where you credit them ? or use tools like jsfxr (online page to generat 8 bit SFX), it would probably be really cool with more sound
- I think ther shoud be something enticing the player to be precise; I realized that you can just aim to the side of the screen , and go up and down very fast with your mouse, and it gets the job done without thinking too much, maybe if the laser had some travel time or something, or maybe if ennemies had a weak spot ? Or make it so that ennemies don't take damage as long as you haven't stayed 1 second focused on them ? Because you can try it, fire the laser everywhere quickly on one side and it will clean the stage ^^
Cool little game, maybe the music would need a bit more variations and more than 3 elements, and also sometimes it's weird when you do an enigm that your character instantenously starts moving, that makes the behaviour a bit weird. Other then that, its got the cool little story, and pixel art is cool
