Ya, sorry we didnt have time to implement enemies during the jam and have been continuing to work on this game. Stay tuned as there will be a finished and polished version in the near future!

interesting concept! this could be improved on by adding things like different enemy types, different art/sounds for each gun that you roll, and I also think that the game is a little hard because of the speed of the enemies... maybe try tweaking them slightly to be a little slower and then if you want it to still be harder you could make them have extra health or do more damage! :)
Very interesting concept and loved the art style!
Gameplay was a little bit difficult as the enemies would constantly attack while not actually being sure if you we hitting them. UI was a little bit confusing as well... maybe specify that to use the abilities you need to press the 1-3 keys as right now it looks like buttons on a controller instead of like a keyboard keycap in the art.
Finally, the camera was impossible to use... but currently, if you dont use the mouse at all the camera will follow your character making it is at least somewhat playable :P
Interesting concept! but sorry that I must be the bringer of bad news as I was also unable to play this game. :(
Couple of issues include:
The home screen positioning being broken and not usable on ultrawide monitors (had to change my monitors resolution to be able to use it at all).
For some reason steam vr picks up on it being a VR game and launches steamvr... did you accidently include VR packages when building? (also, not sure if steamvr was why it was unplayable or not).
As of right now, there are no enemies in the game as we did not have enough time to complete the game. We also tried to avoid using dice directly while still following the theme and not having an obvious choice. As for the platforms not being able to be seen, that is a common complaint and something that was recognized during development, but yet sadly had not enough time to fully tweak it (at one point it was actually even worse 😅)
Thank you for the comment! We do have art and animations for enemies and boss fights with voices lines and everything recorded all during the 48 hours of the jam, but did not have the time to implement them. As for the theme we interpreted it as black/white with random enemy damage, but alas did not have enough time to implement this. We will be finishing this game so stay tuned 😄
We didnt have time to fully complete the game but have a lot of concepts, art and music left and do and plan on fully finishing it!
As for the theme I couldnt say it any better than what it says on the main page for the game jam. "That theme might immediately spark ideas of randomness and probability, or board games and casinos, but as always - you can interpret this theme however you like" meaning we interpreted it as a game about black/white and random damage of enemies and that is perfectly fine.
We are very proud of what we had made 😄
very interesting concept and great music!
also dont worry too much about the very loud music comments... i use to get them all of the time and now i solve the issue by setting the volume to what i like it to be and adding volume slider option in the game that defaults to 50% so if it is too loud or quiet... the user gets to choose :)
Very interesting concept! The game is basically impossible because it is an instant death. It would be nice to have polish in the sense of sounds/music and a more fleshed out art style. Also, it took me a few seconds to understand how the games concept and items work. A brief explanation would be greatly appreciated! The explanation can even be added now on your games page and might even bring in a few more people to see it :)
Edit: Also forgot to add that shooting with space is very confusing when you are aiming with the mouse. I would suggest switching to use "Fire1" instead which in unity will make it use the left mouse click!
Firstly this game is really good, beautiful and sounds amazing, but with all great games I do think there is always room for improvement!
personally I think the game is way too easy as even when I actively tried to get my health meter all the way down it was almost impossible. Maybe adding something like a simple difficultly option that multiplies the amount of bullets coming out based on the option the user chose would make this way harder.
There is not enough of a buffer in the camera around the edges of the screen making it very hard to tell what is in the way of where you are going... maybe increasing the buffer by like an additional 10% of the screen size will make this better!
and finally with this beautiful music and neon art... WE NEED MORE PARTICLES, LIGHTS AND EFFECTS!!!!!! ALL THE PARTICLES, LIGHTS AND EFFECTS!!!!! sorry about that I can get carried away sometimes... but yes more particle effect and lights coming off of everything with a powerful feeling screenshake would make this game 10x better! (something like beat hazard for gameplay examples)
finally I just wanted to reiterate that you actually did an amazing job during the jam and to keep doing what you are doing! 😀
Very interesting concept for a game, but the check if you left a tile happens a bit too quick and makes it very difficult to play... for example I even had the tile I was fully on fell out from underneath me because the car bounces very slightly when crashing into the enemy. Overall I actually like the game and with some polish and some added sounds/music/effects it could be fun to play for hours
Thank you for this properly critical comment!
Yes, we didn't really care about perfectly matching the theme, and if anything we tried to stay away from the theme while trying to also still match it to allow for us to make a game that was not exactly the same as the other 6000 dice games. 🙃
Also, we did know about the issues with the camera placement and spent a total of 30 mins trying to fix it... but then realized that time might be better served doing things like idk "having any level at all to use the character with lol"
but in the end, the game was plagued with time restraints and there is still a lot of art, concepts, and music that was not shared in this little demo that we will be following up on and finishing in the near future (hopefully before the gmtk discord gets closed down again as to allow for a second wave of feedback/comments)
Hello, yes this is the correct game! basically, we went with a very vibrant theme for the normal overworld with an all "Greyscale" theme for when you are are inside the portals and fighting. You will need to find the portal and enter it to see the black and white aesthetics.
We ended up not having enough time to work on level design and a few other features we wanted. we have a lot of concept art and features laid out and fully planned with a few other potential concepts on the cutting board that are going to make this game 10 fold better. Stay tuned for future updates as we do plan on fully finishing this! :)
Now that the game jam is over I thought I would share the list of the best game titles that I got
meta life
yeeting pyre
insane lightning
yummy cars
chicken effect
ultimate sassy warning run
hidden stairs
sloth golf
ghost hijinks
and one extra one that was too good to share because i need to make that game myself but the scope was too big to do it justice in a game jam
