Very clever! Incredible that you were able to make this in such a short amount of time. I found it to be quite challenging and required a lot of thinking and concentration. My only feedback is that it tired me out pretty quickly because of all of the thinking required. If there were a way to make the game more simple it could help, all-in-all it's a great submission that looks very polished and professional!
I did try that idea but I found it to be too frustrating because the machine would never give me the drink I wanted. With only 3 slots it meant that you were spending money pouring lots of drinks that you had to throw away. I totally agree with you and wanted to add more complexity but I ran out of time but didn't want to be frustrate for the player. I really appreciate the honest feedback and yes this was my first submission ever and it was really hard hahaha. Thank you kyboon!
Very interesting and unique idea! I think my biggest point of feedback is that I didn't always know what side I was going to land on because I can't see all sides of the die. This makes it so that I can't properly plan how I want to approach the enemies. If there were a way to rotate the camera around the die so that I could see all sides I think it would help.
The art, animation, and overall presentation is phenomenal! I thought the combat felt smooth although I was also missing a lot of my shots with the bullet spread but I had a fun time playing. I will say it gets pretty difficult pretty fast, but I like that you had checkpoints instead of sending me back to the very beginning because I would have given up much sooner. I also liked how the dice would bounce off of walls, I thought that was a cool addition. But once you shoot your dice you are pretty defenseless until they come back or you pick them up, I think something like a dodge roll would be nice to help the player avoid taking damage while they rush to pick up their dice. Overall, a fun challenging game with incredible visuals.
Way too many tutorial pop ups for me, I did not read them after the 3rd or 4th pop up and still understood enough to play the game. I had a good time with it drawing cards and placing them down. I was able to win after like 3 turns which I find funny considering some of the comments of people getting stuck after multiple tries. Nice entry for GMTK!
I really hope everyone saying "more levels" is giving you high ratings because this is a game jam submission and of course there is not enough time to design a bunch of levels. The concept is great, it's fun and interesting. My only critique is that I wish the font was something a more retro, it really would have tied everything together. Again, I'm sure you just ran out of time like I did with my submission but credit where credit is due great job.
I actually enjoyed the game a bit, the upgrades are plentiful and pretty diverse and interesting! The graphics are fun as well in their simplicity. I think the biggest issue for me is that the speed of the paddle is way too slow, I would have preferred if it were tied to my mouse position so that I could have more control, otherwise it feels as though you're being cheated by the snail-like speed of the paddle not being able to catch up to the falling die. I also don't understand how the slot numbering system works and why it's there? I can't seem to trigger any of the saved power-ups that I have. A quick explanation in the description could help. Also, you should add a score so that we can see how well we are doing!
