The only thing I dont like right now is how UP/DOWN is for driving forward/backwards. My brain wants to use LEFT/RIGHT or A/D for that. If I played more, I guess that would be less of a problem.
Id love to see some wiggling or other kinds of physics on the bear and cycle when you land, as it seems a bit stiff at the moment. But the fact that the bear moves relative to your rotation in the air indicates that it wont be too hard for you to implement that :D
I'm not usually a fan of Trials-type stunt bike games, but the inclusion of interactables, enemies, and objectives really freshens up the gameplay and shows the game is inspired by more titles than most in the genre.
Controls took a second for me to get used to, as I haven't played many of these types of games with a keyboard, but after a minute or so I'd say my only complaint is the interact key doesn't initiate levels from the world map.
Art and sound design are both quirky, and I found myself chuckling at the physics and mechanics more often than not. Music loops are simple but catchy.
I give Bearcycle (alpha): Faster than the average bear/10
Thanks so much! I am definitely aiming to freshen up trials types games by adding in some other interesting mechanisms, it makes me happy to hear that. Lets hope I can come up with some new mechanics for the remaining levels.
I hope it helps! I forgot to set up OBS to capture the game audio, lo siento ;_;
Fun game! I don't usually play this genre but I enjoyed myself even though I consider myself a novice at it! The visuals, music, and story have a light-hearted appeal. My only real suggestion is to make building up speed on the circular grapples by pressing the left & right arrow a little more easier, and maybe let the player adjust their tilt on the spotlight grapples, because there were a few times I knew the ground was coming and I'd would've liked to have been oriented for it. I spoke throughout the video how the it reminded me of Line Rider (my sole touchpoint with this genre tbh), and that brings a question to mind: are you planning on release the final version of this game with a level editor? This seems like the type of game/genre where that would be a great feature! But again, since I don't really play this type of game I don't have any serious thoughts that might be able to help but it's fun and looks pretty well made all around.
Thanks so much for the video!! It really helps a lot, I'll take all you recommendations to heart. I enjoyed your commentary too I was laughing along hahaahha. "Oh yea boys" Yeah I definitely will make the trailer public soon, I have a whole marketing campaign I'm doing with a website email list etc.
Funny you mention line rider--I was obsessed with it as a kid, played for hundreds of hours. Was a part of online forums and released youtube videos under `charliebonev663`. So I am sure that has affected my subconscious enough that I wanted to make a game like it lol.
uploaded 15 minutes of gameplay. I’m posting this comment before the video is uploaded so if you don’t see anything check back in 5 minutes

Pretty fun. I like the interact button it really changes up the gameplay from other excitebike-like games. If you’d like I can upload some more gameplay just ask. I have other games to get to for now
My notes:
I have played happy wheels before (and older games) so i am not new to this control scheme
as a PC player felt weird to have arrow keys and not WASD be default. maybe adding secondary bindings is overkill just for that nitpick because i feel any player who prefers WASD can navigate an options menu
space to navigate menus and dialogue and not interact button? (i rebinded interact)
changing direction (up/down) while in midair puts you to a stop for a second when you land even when you have speed in the new direction. I think this is because of the speed boost you give when you land with a trick
collision got a little wonky at some part not sure the timestamp but i stop in the video and make a note of it on camera
Thank you so much!!! This feedback really is useful, there are a bunch of things your video showed that I will have to work on, your feedback was spot on. But glad you enjoyed it and was able to get through 2 levels without too much trouble. Thanks again, really
I like the new grinding, it feels a lot better then last time. Grappling is also pretty nice, but it can get pretty hard once you accidentally grapple from too close to the center of the circles, or let go to late causing you to shoot straight up into the Air.
Awesome, thank you! I agree about grappling too close to the centers. I think I can rework it to slowly lower you to a target radius length if you end up too close, that might end up fixing it
pure fun, have played this kind of side scrolling game before but the addition of having to hit the jump pads and the rails with Z make it way more engaging. reminded me of donkey kong while i was playing. Didn't have any bugs with menus or gameplay but the game did close itself after i died on the cop level a few times.
Thanks so much!! Yeah I'm definitely trying to expand the motorbike game genre with rails/jump pads/grapple hooks, glad to hear you enjoy that.
The crash is a bit worrisome to me -- if you don't mind, can you zip up all logs files at %APPDATA%\Godot\app_userdata\bearcycle\logs and send them to me? It could help me try to figure out what caused it
Had a lot of fun with the grapple mechanic and also watching the different trick animations.
The whole gameplay experience is very fun, every level is visually distinct and introduces new gameplay mechanics which is great, the 3 star system is a good addition since it incentivizes replaying the levels and checking out all the different routes in each zone, which are all very fun. Driving can feel clunky but in a weirdly good way, especially with rails with momentum and direction.
The visuals remind me of flash games, not that that's a bad thing. The ground texture could sometimes be a bit distracting.
The only real problem was that the game crashed a couple times, once when I was getting chased by the police and once when I tried to use the grapple mechanic for the first time.
Still fun though, I look forward to seeing more with from the moon level and the jet mechanic.
Thanks for the indepth review! Really appreciated, I will take it all to heart
The crashes are worrisome though -- could you zip up the log files at %APPDATA%\Godot\app_userdata\bearcycle\logs and send to me? It would really help, I haven't been able to reproduce it on my own
Hey sorry to keep bugging you but I can't reproduce the game crashing on first grapple use bug -- it would be very helpful if you could send me the log files located at %APPDATA%\Godot\app_userdata\bearcycle\logs , thank you so much!!
- Major overhaul to HUD, added 3 star ranking system
- You can now do tricks by double pressing `Inspect` in the air. Chain together combos via wheelies, rail grinds, flips, and more (Play through tutorial again)
- Half of "City" level added--Pretty fun grappling hook item
Enjoy and be brutally honest as always! Screen record feedback is appreciated most

Love the new tricks and stuff!
A small thing that annoyed me at first is the SFX that plays when the bike lands is sort of loud and didn't really sound like a dirtbike landing.
Didn't try the city level yet but looking forward to checking that out for the first time.
thanks!! Really appreciate it. Yeah I’ll look into changing that sound effect, it’s definitely a bit out of place
good as always
only bug i found was the fps tanking whenever i died on the cop chase, also my controller wouldnt stop vibrating whenever it happened
Thank you! Yeah I gotta look into that, I saw that with a few other folk..
