Lmao! Now that was an unexpected experience. This is top-tier usage of the Mini-style sprites and also my first Where's Waldo-like. You can take the project in so many different directions from here it's crazy, especially if you're willing to implement randomized and/or procedurally generated content. It was an extremely short demo but it was enough to let your sense of humor come through; the gags and even the premise of the game itself had me grinning throughout its duration. Looking forward to experience more of the lore (kinda FromSoftware-like in its expository style, tbh). You'll probably make many changes to the cutscene system along the way, but for now, try pinging us when the scripted sequences are over -- maybe by turning the HUD off while they're playing and then back on when they're over.
Playthrough: ~10 minutes. Clicked everything on the functional maps and took a gander at the dummied ones.
Hmm, I expected you would just build a lot more levels in the style of the orc camp from last demo. Animated sequences are certainly "added" value, but it certainly takes a lot of time to make them? With such pixelated graphics I would as a player prefer having no animations and 5x the content, over having animations.
Anyways, looking mightily forward to space level; vamos.
I can probably add a way to speed up the animations if you want to skip. Implementing a proper skip is a bit tricky with how things are, but if scaling by 5X gets the job done, that'll probably be the way I go about it
Echoing SPECXHT’s comment, I’ve never played a game like this before. Not really my sort of thing, but the artwork is great. Consistent and charming. Looking forward to seeing more.
After viewing vignettes that zoom the camera in, it doesn’t zoom back out. Not sure if this is a bug, or by design to increase difficulty in finding the next thing. Giving the player control over the zoom level would be nice.
After I found the three items in the first level I wasn’t sure if I’d completed it or not. Some kind of win confirmation, even if it’s just something basic for these early builds, would be nice.
I played in Brave browser. I love that you are adding these little story sequences. It was hard to tell when they were over thou.
It was also nice to see what kind of future stages you have planned. I chuckled at Shrek, also crazy goblins infiltrating orc camp with trebuchet.
I read your response to The Gun IS Good dev, and I understand why you want players to find everything in right order (we also talked about your plans with branching endings last DD). Last DD I also mentioned Perky Little Things, which allows to get many items in semi-custom order, but it also makes other available based on what you found. It was also about first finding an object, and then using it on correct person, prop in the stage.
This isn't my type of genre, I don't know if I've ever played it before actually. But I know they're really popular. I can see the appeal, watching little dudes run around doing their thing, clicking on stuff to see some animation. It's something I would've loved as a kid. The animations are good, seems to be vital. Needs a big YOU WIN!!! and some satisfying fanfare. Is there a point to having to find the objects in order? I guess if you're trying to tell a story it would be.
I had it out of order before, which works if it's just simple find xyz. I want to tell small narratives, like orc camp having goblins take over, or prison break out, aliens breaking out, etc. With narratives in mind, it gets more complex very quickly, forcing linear finding solves lots of issues with technical as well as player-ux on that front. I think, perhaps hope, it'll make more sense as I get more content going with it.

ps. Mouse dragging is still kaputt :(
I'm just mad there isn't more content
Yeah, same. working on it!
Looking forward to seeing more of the animations implemented, will be sick
i suggest making them cancellable on repeat playthroughs so you arent forced to watch the same animation twice

Thanks for playing!
even allowing the player to exit being locked into the animation would be sufficient imo

You can control zoom with scroll wheel, I forgot to put that in the instructions. sorry!
Yeah, I'll address the other stuff for sure, thanks!

A very, very cute game. Art works very well, and the event animations are very cute.
Enjoyed it a lot.

Love the animations. It's so neat just looking what's going on around the Orc place.
fucking pixel art where's waldo, holy shit
the amount of work you must have put into this is INSANE.
We're just getting started
Super cute game, saw it on stream and had to try it myself. Honestly don't even have much feedback to give other then I want more levels! Great job!
Working on it!!!! It'll get there, I promise
Cute art and animations. I want more.
