I liked the shooting. I think the sound effects were quite good. I too would have liked to have a health meter. I also managed to get pancaked under a door which was a cool game over lol.
It would be nice to know how much health I had. I don't know if it's me being impatient or if it's the player's speed being high but in the middle of the second level it became a matter of trial and error where I kept running into enemies and dying because I didn't react in time. This happened more times than I'd like to admit before finally closing it in frustration. The setting from the game page is good but I wish it were in game, though I imagine it will be later. Lastly, I found a bug where if I was dying and I slapped escape the menu would show and the screen would continue fading but once I loaded back into the beginning of the level my character couldn't move unless I slapped escape again but once doing that the elevator wouldn't work. This is all fixed by simply hitting "restart" so not a big bug by any means but it might be a problem later.
Thanks for playing, I know the game didn't turn out great, unfortunately.
As is you can run pretty fast but you're punished for not taking things slow by more easily running into enemies. It shouldn't be too hard other than that, I gave the player what I think is a good amount of health especially in the later levels and kept it hidden hoping to keep things suspenseful, but I get that it's going to just be frustrating for most people.
Now I will preface this by saying my toaster had a hard time running this; I think it might be all the shaders. Hence, I can't give you as good feedback as someone who had the full experience. That being said: I think you really nailed the horror aspect as I was peeing my pants while playing this, granted I'm not good with horror stuff. I think it was on the third stage? The doors when you're underwater, I have a hard time understanding how they behave. They seem not to open if you're standing to close to them when the trigger for them to open hits. I didn't find any other weird behavior so the game is solid on that side. And this is my personal opinion, but the interaction box with the battery thing could be a bit bigger; you basically have to standing on it to get the battery in. Anyway, I hope you get better feedback on DD.
(the video cuts abruptly at the end because I accidentally hit the stop button, sorry)
Sorry for the poor performance, it seemed to run without a hitch for me but I guess all the various light sources and shadows can be a problem on some hardware.
Thanks for the feedback, glad you found the game spooky.

Pressing space while underwater should definitely be a secondary control for 'up'.
Also landing that 'bump your head on the ceiling' jump in the upgraded gills level while dealing with 2 unkillable monsters is pretty annoying.
The monsters are fine, it's just that style of jump I feel isnt really testing my platforming and is immersion breaking.
I really enjoyed the Line of Sight mechanic.
This ran fine on my machine.
