Track description | Creative process
This song takes the simplicity of the classic underground theme from Super Mario Bros. on the NES and creates a whole new song with a very similar vibe. Some say less is more, and this song really takes it to heart with its simply memorable melody, reverberating tone, and ambient atmosphere.
I really thought about what made the original underground theme so iconic and tried to use elements of the song to better suit my song in its place, such as the use of silence, but instead with reverbed piano to fill the ambience. I then sat down at a piano at university and tried to map out a melody and harmony before putting it all together in flat.io. Thank you for listening and I can't wait for the next jam from you!

It gives off a creepy feeling, maybe a bit too minimal. Good composition.
Nice alternative take on the original theme, the track feels a bit too empty and repetitive, it could benefit from a B melody like the original does, but I think you nailed the underground aspect of this jam.
I like the original leitmotiv you used, very unique. The track really has a ominous feeling to it, works well with the theme, congrats !
This sounds like it would fit very well in an alternative soundtrack for a slower and more modern Mario game. The atmosphere from the strings is great, and I like the repetitive piano that calls back to the original!
I do feel a weaker sense of rhythm in this though, which a lot of Mario games do well. I think using quiet bass notes from the piano could do a lot in giving a sense of rhythm without taking away from the sense of space in the music. The synth bass does not have a strong enough attack to drive the forward movement of the piece.
Overall it’s a nice track with great ambience, well done!
I like how the melody rhythm calls back to the original track, while otherwise being different. Really nails the "alternative ost" feel. Creepy feel. Nice work!
spooky <3 the violins really carry this one, maybe the piano could move a little bit more? other than that, its simple, its efficient, its good.
Interesting take with piano violin, very different take for underground, fits pretty well.
Nice. The “underground” atmosphere is back, if perhaps a little too sinister. The very repetitive aspect + the sucessive addition of small elements also fits the theme well. A little more variety might have been nice.
The instrumentation is very minimalist, so there's not much to say except that the choice of instruments is appropriate.
loved the violin
