Track description | Creative process
This is my second Alternative Soundtrack Jam!
Let me share with you the background about this track.
The game, Crypt Of The Necrodancer (2015) is a píxel art game with a powerful and really energetic soundtrack.
I use my fav DAW, Studio One, working with 3D sound this time.
My composition links the power of the kicks and the bass line -with contrabasses and cellos- with a lead guitar over the mix. I decided to include a little surprise to end the song, as a total Descent to the Crypt.
I hope you like it and enjoy! 😎🎻

I listened to this as soon as you uploaded it on SoundCloud, I think it's a very nice composition, with a sound that could easily work on the original game. I liked the switch you made on the second part, even if personally it would have been very nice to expand the first section a little more, both parts were very well executed.
Thank you!
What a fantastic and embracing introduction! It bought me on board with the sound proposals you presented. I loved the synthwave proposal with the orchestral strokes! I missed less compression, letting the instruments shine more, a little more chaos would give a more creative perspective to the melodic proposals. I loved the chord progressions, the arpeggios and especially the development of the sections.
Thank you! Yep, maybe a put too much compression. Take your advice ;)
anytime! =)
Big fan of the chiptune voice woven throughout! Overall I think this is great, although my personal preference would be something a little faster for a boss fight. Really enjoyed listening!
Thank you! Yes, I decided to take some risk and mix both parts with a surprise ending, but maybe the frist part needs more development during the song and maybe a little more bpm or makes the rythym more fluent. Thank you again for your feedback. I'm glad you like it! 🙌🏽
Hi Sandra! I really enjoyed your submission. I think the arrangement was very well crafted. Also the instrument choices caught my attention.
I really liked what happens after 0.57
Well done!!
Hi Layla!
Muchas gracias por tu feedback. Me alegra mucho que te haya gustado 🙌🏽
Didn't feel like it fitted with coral riff, but this would be a fine OST for the game.
The melody is really nice!
Good work!
Probably I took certain risk and maybe for the coral riff could needs more develop of the first part. But well, I wanted to makes something a little different and combine both parts with a surprise ending. I'm glad that you like! Thank you so much ;)
Super cool vibe, it almost sounds cyberpunk-esque in the first half and then did not expect the strings arrangement, a surprise to be sure but a welcome one ! Good job
Thank you! I took some risk and I fell really glad that you like it ;)
Dynamic piece with an intro that reminded me a little of the "Halloween" (movie) theme and two distinct sections. Good job and I enjoyed it overall. My only critique would be that the rhythm loses some of its dance energy during the transition between the sections when the bass drum drops out and there's just legato strings, but the measure of bass drums and swoosh after the drop at 0:54 set the expectation that it would immediately return to a dance rhythm only to go into a legato free-flowing section... anyone necrodancing to it would be somewhat confused IMO.
Thank you for your advice. I decided to link both melodies: the "cyberpunk" part, and the strings part (with a standart orchestration music sheet). As a result: a new part with both melodies at the same time harmonically combined -even the lead part-. This mix of both parts offers a optimistic pre-ending to the player if we consider that is the boss part of the game. I decided to end everything using different bow strokes strings and decrease util the smallest sound (pizzicato) changing the music tension. I'm glad you like it! ;)
Overall, a pretty good and solid song. I must say the kick drum is a little too strong in the high ends, it makes it punchy but a little painful when hearing for a long time.
Thank you. I'll keep an eye on the kicks :) I'm glad that you like it
Loved the chiptune synth lead! Great job!
Thank you ;)
