Great Music, Great and Great Gameplay! I really got into this and ended up with a score of 2443. Stage 3 was really brutal with those huge fast moving ghosts! lolz. Really enjoyed the strategy of slow forward but fast backward. Tons of fun! Well done!

Hahaha xD Yepp, the ghosts always get me too xD Thank you so much for your feedback! Glad you enjoyed the game :)

Music fits very well and the art is great! I enjoyed the simple controls and gameplay. I liked that gathering souls gave you an extra chance, very clever!

Hey this was pretty cool! Super solid game made in the timeframe given.

I'm super focused on the music side of things, so having super cool music is always a bonus over the other silent games in the jam. Personally, I wished they looped better, or that the stages were shorter to compensate the length of the track.

Second, the stages are long. The lives mechanic is neat and keeps you in, but I had 15 sould by stage 3 and was getting bored due tot he stage length. I'd cut them in half even, nothing too crazy, but challenge theough padding the length isn't good game design imo.

However, this is a solid title with beautiful art and animations and a neat idea using the theme to drive the story. As others have said, some tactile sound effects (getting hit, objects getting closer so you know you're in danger etc.) would boost this up to a great game. You should be proud regardless, this was an awesome experience.

We sadly had to put in the first drafts of the music since we had some time issues. The updated version of the game has some better looped music and a special soundtrack for the third stage.

Omg!! 15 Souls by stage 3! You're insane! Even we didn't manage to get that much and even I need 2 tries to even get to the outro xD We are working on the difficulty and the stage length.

Thank you so much for your feedback :)

Awesome game!  At first I didn't like how the player controlled, but the more I played the more it grew on me.  The one simple thing that I think could improve this game would be a few sound effects, like one for getting hit and absorbing a soul maybe.

Thank you so much! :D

Sadly we had to cut the sound effects due to time issues :(

A fun little game!

What I liked:

  • You used the narrative to tie the game to the jam's Theme. That was very clever.
  • The controls are hood and responsive.
  • The music is very good and fits the game and the theme well.
  • Some of the animations were done beautifully.

Suggestions:

  • Art seems a bit inconsistent. Some sprites look like they were made for another purpose but were used in the game anyway
  • For a couple of tries, I didn't know you could skip the intro, simply because I'm used to only having one hand on the mouse always. A little prompt that you could skip would be good.

Overall, fun experience. Good job!

Thank you so much for your feedback! I'm glad that you enjoyed the game!

Do you remember any specific example considering the artstyle? I drew everything specifically for this jam and would love to know what exactly feels off. The only thing I could imagine are the missing details regarding the angel and devil enemies.

Thank you so much for playing our game!

All around pretty good game! Loved the music! Kinda sad there wasn't a sound for getting hit.

Thank you! I'm the composer :) there's another tune coming for the last stage that we didn't have time to add.

The in game sound effects were one of the losses we had to cut sadly
