Phew, had a double-click focus issue there for a minute and nearly stopped playing. I'm glad I didn't! Very fun, beautiful and just great audio. The artwork must have taken quite awhile, especially for all the animated poses. Very simple controls and relaxing atmosphere. Well done!

That you so much for the comment! Unfortunately I just ran out of time. I was learning a lot about UMG payloads, Widget integration and general Unreal UI functionality through the C++ library during the Jam and didn't make it to the end of the original core concept. The next step was the build an AI Castle opponent that you could attack with your Own Castle's Population and Power. And then obviously Sound Effects, Music, Menus and more card abilities. Still it was a fantastic learning experience and I'm glad my core idea was shining through the rough there somewhere. It will be invaluable in the next Jam. :-D
Really well done! I absoultely loved the art-style and perspective for a "2D" game. It felt really good sliding forward and back on the Y axis. The puzzles were good fun and the jumping felt surprisingly smooth for the awesomely styalised character. I also really enjoyed the way you delivered the story. It was left up in the air but I could really feel the emotional intent; all high-lighted by a ponient soundtrack. Fantastic Work! :-D
Ty Barbetta,
The visuals were a first-time effort so was super happy with how they turned out. I was definitely pla- testing predominantly on gamepad and now feel bad about not getting the wallslide feeling better on keyboard. Definiely will improve that for next time. I was learning a lot this Jam so did'nt have much time left for combat, etc, so decided to base everyting around the wall-jumping. Thank you so much for the feed-back, really appreciate it, :-D
Holy cow! Great work. I was so glad you had controller support, but i think you forgot the right stick? xD Plus, I think it keeps resetting at the end of the first level? Otherwise, so much fun! You captured the soul of Fall Gus perfectly, And I was super impressed with the character model itself! Well done. Definitely wanted more!!! :-D
Appreciate all the detailed feed-back! One cheat for some of those tricky parkour jumps is the just drop off a platform before doing the basic jump. I really like games where you can figure out ways to capitilize on the mechanics. I like having platforms with greater risk, because they yield greater rewards. I definitely need to continue developing the wall-jump system so that there is no feeling of delay and it feels more forgiving. Youre also right about the background music too. I should have included a free piece of music, but I really wanted everything included in the game to be made my myself.
Thank you again for the feedback and I will keep it in mind for the next Jam! :-D
Was really impressed when I realized there was a ghost mechanic involved. That must have taken some research. You definitely put some thought into how the puzzles should unfold and they were fun to solve. Really enjoyed the visual aesthetic, it lead to a good pairing with the music.
Id recommend having a way to skip to the next character rather than wait for awhile and killing yourself to make the next character accessible. The character movement felt a little stiff and having unreachable platforms felt a little frustrating. I also tried the game on my controller. It was great to see the movement was implemented, but I think you forgot the jump.
Well done overall!
Would love some more feedback! Ty! Will definitely partake! https://itch.io/jam/gamedevtv-jam-2022/rate/15534
Thank you so much for playing! It certainly was my first solo Game Jam, but have made a card game in Unity previously. It was an intense 10 days learning about Pixel Art, animation, wall-jumping, interactive scene elements, level design, etc. It was also my first Unreal Game so I think it must have VR settings in there someone I needed to disable. Will be on the look out for that next Jam. Ty so much for letting me know!!! :-)
