Hello.

I have some feedback for your game.

Firstly, yes, I get it I seem to be having a bit of trouble. Now, JUST LET ME SPEED UP THE FREAKING TEXT.

Secondly, the first attack( especially on the fight he asks me to shatter ), feels unfair. If you are going to damage me regardless, just spawn me with less health.

Speaking of health, how does it work? I seem to be having less health on the other fights for no reason. Furthermore, even though I can see the player sprite, also having a health bar would be nice, as distinguishing the sprites is hard.

Lastly, I'd like to say that I really like the art.

Sadly, I cannot prove I won the game, as after I said that I'd shatter the conversation started over. So, I can only say: Welp, thanks for reading this today.

Hi thanks for the feedback!

Yes you finished the game congrats!! It starts off at the beginning because narratively the story is a time loop.

First.   The dialogue choices you make matter. Starting with less health is if you chose NOT to trust the therapist!

Talking to the therapist is the main mechanic of the game and the consequences are most definitely not random. Trusting the therapist will heal you. So if you start the fight with health carried over that’s 100% up to your choice of not trusting him when he asks after the fight.

Yes the text is an issue ok. I mentioned it in the description. I didn’t fix/notice it because 1. I am NOT a fast reader and 2. This was made in 3 days cut me some slack man...  it will be fixed after the jam though 100%. :D

This is a story game and shattering the soul is a core part of the game’s narrative. There’s only one ending where the soul is left intact based on your gameplay and choices.

Yeah anyways thank you so much for finishing the game!! I really appreciate it!

okay this game is great and all but...

This THERAPIST IS PISSING ME OFF MAN>

he always says weird things against what i said, and just bcz i didn't trust him ONCE he started attacking me, also the things that attack move very fast i don't have enough time to react unless if i died to it or was just lucky.

and please, let me use my keyboard, i hate rats.

Developer

Hi yes that is very valid!!

You’re supposed to hate him so yeah... I mean he’s the bad guy hahaha is he not?

Yea it’s unfair in some parts but I didn’t have time to test every single attack. I was hoping they were simple enough that players would easily remember where the attacks show up in the 10-30s attack sequences.

Also story-wise the therapist is unfair, I mean he’s in your mind, he can do what he wants. So that’s why I made it like that. :x

Sorry about the mouse/trackpad/touch controls! But for a game like this the keyboard feels a bit off for movement. I would be willing to add those in later though.

Thanks so much for the feedback!!

this game is wonderful! one of the best in the jam so far! it gives undertale vibes.

the story and the dialogues are so damn interesting and mysterious. The art is just perfect. This game is so strong. I definitely waiting to see more! followed you and I hope to see more games like this in the future.

Developer

Oh my gosh this is so nice!! Thank you so much for the feedback and encouragement, it means a lot to me!

I’ll go check out your submission as well. ^^

Thank you so much!!

This game was cool. I like the vibe a lot. Cool art too. I wouldn't mind playing more of something like this. Definitely work on dialog box script though. Players need to be able to speed up text.

Developer

Thanks for the feedback! Oh gosh I really should of tested it more with the dialogue x_x ... I'm definitely going to add a button to display the text all at once after the jam though!

Really well made and a  fun game! Your art is amazing too!

Developer

Thank you so much!! Your art is wonderful ;-;

So lovely and creepy! Love it!

Ah that makes me so happy! Thank you!!

So good! I love the art style, the gameplay, the story, the music. Simply put, I love this game. Amazing work. I haven't really played Undertale but I can see the inspiration and might even try it simply because of how much I liked your game. Amazing job!

Developer

Ah thank you so much!! I don't know why but it just makes me so happy that you'd try Undertale just because of this game!

Very neat game! Reminds me of Undertale a bit. I like how you wove together the story with the VERY intense levels. I died so much, haha! I can't tell if different decisions in the story make the game harder or not. Either way, that was tough, but fun.

Would appreciate you checking out my game!

Developer(+1)

Thank you!! They affect it a bit! not trusting the therapist makes it a lot harder and making certain choices can give you a harder bonus level! But coming back to it I would definitely adjust the difficulty haha.

And I'll check it out!

Nice coherent art! I kept losing and the slow dialogue was killing me. Since it's clear you will die a lot (sometimes at the exact same place in the pattern) it would be best to let the player get right back into the action.

Developer(+1)

Thanks for the feedback!. This was made in 3 days so it needs a TON of polish so I think I'll definitely get back to it after the jam!

I love the art, it reminds me a lot of undertale. The attacks were cool but it could use a little telegraphing. I didn't really notice my player speeding up on low health either. Good submission.

Developer

Thanks so much for the feedback! I will check out your game as well :)

Extremely well done, the art style is great and the gameplay is very fun. I felt drawn in by the mystery presented and had lots of fun finding out what the therapist was hiding :) You should definitely look into a full development of this game or something similar, the concept is golden!

Developer

Thank youu! I'm so glad you like it! I would love to make a full game around this concept. c:

Great game, I can tell you are inspired by Undertale! The art is amazing and the gameplay is really fun too. A couple things I would note, I didn't really notice that I get faster when I'm hit, maybe this could be made a little more prevalent. Also the attack variety was nice but it sometimes felt a little random. I think it would work a little better if the attacks more more telegraphed to give the player a better chance.

Overall, awesome game though. I had a lot of fun playing it!

Developer

Great suggestions thank you!! I'll go check out your game as well c:

Wow, I really enjoyed this game, btw the music is very good to be made in the last 10 minuts, I liked it.

Developer(+1)

Thank you so much!  I'm glad you liked it. I've been trying to play your game as well but sadly right now I am forced to be a mac gamer :'(

Submitted

:(  Next time i'll try to make an html version so it's more accessible

Developer

for sure! sorry about that!

Submitted

Don't worry, was my fault for not uploading to html

Bro! This game! Is insanely good! Major props! Reminds me a LOT of Undertale

Developer

This is so nice! Thank you!

(Also I've been trying to play your game but it freezes on my mac like crazy T-T)

Aw damn im sorry to hear that. We didn't get time to test the Mac Port (submitted within the final minute lol) so I would guess that the Mac port is the buggiest version. I should have prioritized a Web based version, but this is my first jam in a while and forgot how important that was lol. Thanks for trying anyways! Seriously you have inspired me a lot for my next jam so hopefully I can make something even grander for Brackey's in a few weeks!

Developer

Ah no you're good, I totally understand!! But yeah Brackeys! still crying over his goodbye I'm sure you'll make something great for sure! I might participate too... not sure though hehe.

First off, this game has some visual flare! I do see the connection with Undertale but I think you definitely add in your own touch too. To me the connection to "less is more" here feels a bit tacked on and farfetched, feels like you came in with an idea in mind that you wanted to follow instead of finding something that works with the theme. Not necessarily a bad thing though!

The text speed felt too slow for me unfortunately, I would've played the game a few more times if there was an option to make the dialogue appear entirely by pressing space again :(

The variety in attacks and themes is pretty welcomed. Some attacks feel a bit unfair and hard to telegraph though, either having more warnings or seeing them outside of the box before they come in could go a long way in achieving a better game feel.

All in all, there is a lot of potential and charm in this game, although it could really use some small tweaks here and there to make the experience really flow. Well done!

Oh my gosh... Firstly, thank you for the super detailed review! These are great ideas and this will be immensely helpful when I come back to this game.

edit:  I'm going to shorten this hehe.

Ok so I think I should better explain my reasoning since the theme can be interpreted in many ways.

...

So here's the main idea: A tradeoff between lives vs mobility at the expense of morality.

Yeah, life vs mobility  may seem unimportant at first, and benefit of having more life does outweigh mobility, but the true weight of this exchange is established through talking to the therapist. (Basically doing what the antagonist wants for more lives .) Without the therapist, there is only a less-more exchange between "lives" and "mobility."   With the addition of the trust prompt there is now ANOTHER less-more exchange between "lives" and "morals." I think this kind of ties the theme into the core narrative, in my opinion at least.

...

I do agree with you that the theme might seem like it got a bit lost in the sauce there, but its definitely there,... at least in my mind.

But anyways, You're amazing to take the time to leave feedback like this. I really appreciate it!

Cool game! I liked the visuals. I went the hardcore path and chose not to trust him. I regret not trusting him, too hard xD

Developer

Haha.. I know right.

Thanks for playing!
