I like the music and the graphics! You game is beautiful but it would have been nice to work a bit more on the feedbacks and the juice. Also the character movements are really slow. Please upgrade because you have something solid here!

Developer

what would you add, replace, or change?

Submitted(+1)

no replacement! In my opinion you just need to accelerate the movement of the player and add some camera and particle effects.

Developer

Thanks for the feedback

Very fun use of the theme~ Could use some more visual and audio feedback for hitting the bosses to make combat more satisfying and maybe tone down their health in general, but otherwise, pretty solid! Really like the style of the game!

Developer

Thanks, I'm thinking of uploading a version with some improvements after the Jam

Classy! Really top game. I liked everything here. At the beginning, I don't know why, it gave me GBA's Max Payne vibes. The graphics are pretty and the fight with the bosses are very fun. I have some suggestions:

  • The protagonist's fire rate could be higher;
  • The protagonist's projectile range could be longer;
  • Helen from Human Resources could have less hitpoints;

Other than taking too long to realize that I could have dual wielding pistols, I had no problems beating the game. I lost 3 times.

Congratulations! This is a very well polished game!

Developer

Thank you so much for playing!

Developer

Also, fire rate and rage depends on the gun you make, you can make 27 diferent guns

very interesting concept, I like the bosses too, overall good job! I would enjoy something with a bit more polish.

Developer

Thanks!

Developer

Any suggestion on what to polish? I'm aware that I need to add some feedback when you are hitting the boss

Didn't expect this to be this chill going into this game, but I'm not complaining! I really love your take on the theme, but sadly without any recipe book of sorts, I couldn't really be bothered remembering the recipes as anything I could make was "good enough". Still, the sheer charm of this game is amazing, really good job!

EDIT: Oh also! I noticed the bullets are quite small, you might want to increase their size a bunch, it makes a lot of difference in how they feel.

I liked the use of the theme in this one, it might have been a me thing but I felt that the bosses had a little too much health making it feel a little long, but overall I really enjoyed this entry, good job!

Developer

Thanks for playing!

Fun little jammer. Music and sfx needed some love, but they were all office themed. Just found that the music didn't match the tempo of the gameplay. Would of been nice to have hit marker sounds to know when a shot does land as it was hard to tell some times if it registered as a hit. Good work though

Thanks! If you want to lower the health of the bosses fast, I recommend building guns with the cardboard tube, those guns are like shoot guns and they can lower the health of the bosses really fast, but the catch is that you are closer to the enemies and is easier to get hit.

Love the graphics and use of the theme. But I would have liked to have more feedback upon hitting the enemy Now I often enough was unsure if it actually hit or not. Great game

Developer

I had a red flash on the bosses, similar to the one on the Playable character, but after a while it became a little too much to see, so I just leave the boss health bar shake as feedback

I love that the bosses are, well, your boss. It's great. The shader with with the black outlines certainly does something to make your game look unique. I like how all the weapons shoot different projectiles, like staples and other office supplies.

Developer

Thank you! I made 3 bullets, 3 barrels and 3 engines, so they are 27 weapons in the game

It is the best take on "Makeshift" i've seen so far. Fun game too! I only missed some visual or audio feedback when hitting the bosses.

Also, consider nerfing the shotgun. It's too good on short range.

Developer

Thanks for the feedback, I also was thinking making the shootguns to have lets "bullets" to shoot

i feel this game isn't optimized, but the gameplay is cool too !

Developer

It is ,I worked on that, the models are low poly (I use normal maps and metallic maps) and the textures are 1024x1024 at max. also the lighting is baked.
if you have problems you can lower the quality settings on the tittle screen.

Developer

Now that I think of it, I COULD add object pooling to optimize the game more

Developer(+1)

Now the game is more optimized. all particles and bullets come from object pools

good job

Ok, I guess great minds think alike, because our games really do have a bunch of similar concepts :)

So- random thoughts:

I like the less-frantic-more-deliberate pace of your game.

I'm sort-of jelous of your CEO's mech suit :) (for now he kicked my ass, but I'll play it again!)

The office setting is a nice touch.

Only two things irked me, and both of them have to do with game balance. Health items could restore 100% health (I was THIS close to defeating Charles, but I lost too much HP in the HR dept). I also feel the weapons could have more range.

Over all- really liked it!

Developer(+1)

The range of the gun you made depends of the barrel, Cardboad barrels have very short range, but they shoot more than one projectile at once, If you use cardboard guns you will have to get closer to the danger, but you will make more damage per shot,  Also I wanted the game to be a challenge .So having a save feature and giving you  an item that restore all the health was too much, I had an item that gived 10% but that was way to little, so I settle for a 50% health item before each boss fight, I will add a "Delete your game" option in case some one wants to retry.
As you said, is part of the balance of the game,

Gameplay is nice, but the game dont very optimized, so you should add option to set lower settings. Make better sound and visual effects.

I also had a bug when the second boss just nocliped through the wall and i was stunlocked.

Developer

I will check that!

Developer(+1)

Game is optimized, Added visual Options and I fix the bug with the boss

Developer(+1)

Now the game is more optimized. all particles and bullets come from object pools
