The movement felt a bit weird for me but maybe I am just noob, but the story was soo awesome and really well written. Great game.

How does your game fit the theme?
Both literally and metaphorically, 'Blue Sky, Ice Water' goes deeper into the past of its protagonist through the use of changing settings that dive deeper from the sky above into the water below.
Did you write all the code and made all the assets from scratch?
I created the code as originally as possible on my chosen platform (Scratch) and designed all of the assets myself only using a few references to maintain realism.

This was great! I really liked the writing, and the multiple endings really added an extra layer. I had a hard time with the platforming since WASD didn't seem to work for movement, but that may just be a skill issue on my end! Really liked the background ambience as well. well done
Ah, thank you! I usually use only arrow keys and/or space for movement due to it being easier to code. So definitely not a skill issue, just my personal preferences. Glad you liked the storytelling! I planned for more endings, but am happy that you liked the endings I created. I'm really happy with the background music and it's great to know that you agree! Thank you for playing!
cool story and music was enjoing this for a while wsa really relaxing and polished for being made with scratch good job, can you plese rate my game(i still need 2 ratings)
The writing here is good but the platforming felt a little detached from the narrative. I tried to explore a little bit and found that you can trigger the ending text through a variety of means. It's a good start, I can see this being more in-depth with additional time.
Thank you! I really enjoyed designing the graphics and am so happy you mentioned the character's face! It's honestly one of my favourite aspects of the design (lore is one of the things I love to add in my games, no matter how simple). I'm glad the simplicity worked out well and you liked my interpretation of the theme!
I would have loved to expand on it too, but am a bit stuck on ideas right now. Maybe sometime after the Jam, I might figure it out. Thank you for your comment! I'm so glad you enjoyed!
Would definitely be interesting to see how the story could be expanded if the development time was longer, and it's a very good application of the theme (really, given the theme I'm honestly surprised I haven't seen more story focused game).
Reminds me a lot of one of the winners from the last GMTK game jam: https://aquanoctis.itch.io/onedaybetter
Thank you so much! I actually played and loved that very game, so my submission being compared to it made me just want to shake your hand and thank you a million times over! I would also have loved to expand on it, but school exams looming and limited time and inspiration didn't really allow it to reach its full potential... I'm glad you liked the theme and storytelling regardless! I would like to recommend an amazing submission (if you haven't already seen it) https://alimen6.itch.io/detective-bass-fish-out-of-water . It is definitely quite storytelling based and just so creative. Thank you for your kind comment and I'll be sure to check out your submission too as soon as possible!
The fact that you made this during exams just makes it more impressive. Exams are the reason I wasn't able to finish my game for the last Brackeys jam.
Since you recommended a game, I'll also recommend Link, it's an incredibly unique story driven game that hasn't gotten the attention it deserves.
You have a beautiful way with words, I really enjoyed your story telling style :).
Interesting game! I like the simple art style and the animations of the player, even though they weren't that smooth. I'm not really a fan of storytelling games like this but nonetheless good job!
Cool game.
Now that I've rated yours, could you rate my game please? https://itch.io/jam/brackeys-10/rate/2236541
The story-telling was very impactful! The controls were a little iffy to use for me personally, but the depth of the narrative made up for it. Would love to see a longer version with smoother controls and an updated ui. The simplicity of the game versus the seriousness of the topic also felt very appropriate. Read about torment and switch back to this happy song - very impactful!
So sorry for the late response! I was sure I replied to your comment but must have forgotten to post it!! I'm very glad that the story-telling made up for my shoddy control/animation abilities. I would love to expand the game in the future when I'm more experienced and have a better idea on how to expand the story. It's always good to know that my balancing act worked, especially with the more heavy subjects. Thank you so much for your kind comment!
Wow that was deep, great work nailing the theme. Was a game and a book at the same time.
Very cool story with the game!
I always enjoy how the theme for the jam can be used more narratively and figuratively, instead of being taken at face value, so excellent job!
Thank you! I struggled a bit with the prompt at first, so I'm really glad that it worked out well. Thank you so much for playing and I'm thrilled that you enjoyed it! I always struggle to code up to most people's level (combination of coding on Scratch and lack of skill) but I always like to know that the stories I tell through the game make up for that.
