Imagine playing a chess game where a new rule gets added every few turns. it could be surprising, and unexpected at first, but as the game goes on, it becomes a little more... chaotic!

Very nice game :D LIke the AI and innovation of this game

The AI in this game shows a lot of potential! I really enjoyed the creative twist with moves like Fireball Bishops and the square movement for Knights. Even though the bot's rating is around 250, it managed to keep things interesting by being a bit unpredictable. The coordination between different mechanics must have been a real challenge to program, but it paid off!

I'm 1350 rated so I had no problem beating this bot, but it's very well programmed regardless! I imagine you had to create a system to detect what moves are legal using math and then probably some if-statements and randomness to decide which move to play. This was super fun! Fireball Bishops, Rook = Queen, and Knight moves in a square were definitely fun ones. 9 people as well - coordination was probably a hard thing. I'd place the bot at 250 rated - mostly random but manages to show some aggression against the player which is better than pure random.

Great game, guys! I liked unexpected twists and overall gameplay of constant adaptaions to new rules, it was fun! Though I didn't like 10 seconds rule (was too hard for me to make decisions in such a strict limit with all new rules adding up) + the first board change (4x3 bridge) since it made moving most of the pieces over a board too hard making a lot of moves not available and the tactics limited. But these things aside, nicely done!

Absolutely brilliant! The design, the gameplay, everything is so well thought out. You’ve created something that’s not only fun to play but also beautiful to experience! ;D

Hahaha! That was one of the most fun Chess games :)

  • Innovative idea to keep adding crazy rules every turn.
  • I’m a fan of regular Chess, but have played some “crazy” chess variants as well, like “Double Chess” and “Antichess”. I can say “Chaotic Chess” ranks pretty high in terms of crazy fun :)
  • Starts off calm enough, and gets chaotic pretty quickly.
  • Loved the Drunk Driver!
  • Goblin attack and Pawns becoming Checker pieces were good as well.
  • Didn’t like the Glitchy board or “Play with the non-dominant hand” rules. But well, it’s all fun anyway!
  • Can't imagine writing an AI for this game. Great job on that.

Cool concept and execution!

Very cool twist on chess! It would be cool to have a list of all the twists that have happened (maybe I missed it). Also the ai was pretty easy (but it's just a jam so that's understandable). Awesome idea and presentation!

Hee-ho. Very interesting idea. Cool game

Truly an incredible experience. I cannot imagine how long it took you to get an opponent chess AI to function with the amount things happening to the board as you play. Very well done.

The most fun I’ve ever had in this jam. How do you counter fireball mate though?

This is like r/anarchychess the game xD
Out of curiosity, how did you program the enemy AI? Sounds like a tough challenge to do it in a week!

One of the programmers will see this eventually but let me tell you they scare me I don't think they have seen the outside  :0

Hahaha, hopefully they can all take a break now that the jam is thru :P

This game is really fun, I really liked the random rules hahaha

This could be a good multiplayer game or to try to have a good time with friends or people online. I played a few games to see more rules and maybe I missed a few but this is a good game. It’s a good start that the 1st rule it’s always capture the king.

A few things I see when I played that could be better is that, when the rule change and there still a notification from the old one, the new rule replace the old text and the notification disappear fast so I can’t see what it does, I had this happening in the rules where you have to move fast.

And the other thing that maybe only happens in the web is, playing full screen, then going window mode and then going full screen again in game, makes the game break and just a gray screen is left, I had to refresh the page to play again.

Other than that, I didn’t have trouble playing, great concept, really fun to play for quick matches! :)

So innovative and fun. I laughed so hard at how chaotic it became. Being an amateur chess player, I particularly enjoyed this. Thanks for making!

WOW, so cool! I enjoyed the idea a lot! Please add a local multiplayer! :D
Having a log of all the rules could be great in my opinion.

Well done!

I really enjoyed the game. I'd love to keep playing it even when the jam's over. The only thing I would like is a choice of difficulty. It turned out to be a little simple for me. Still, it was pretty cool overall. Good job!
