How does your game fit the theme?
When I heard Calm before the storm, I thought of bullet hells. This is because at the start, bullet hells are simple and easy but as time progresses, they slowly increase in difficult.
Did you write all the code and made all the assets from scratch?
I made some assets myself and some I got online. I made sure to credit the assets I got online. I mostly wrote the code myself but I used YouTube videos for things like knockback and player movement etc and also other sites like Godot documentation.

This little game was very fun :D
I liked the visuals and the guns, but I prefer the base one since it can shoot through the enemies and I like the difference between those 2.
The songs are good and fit with the vibe of the game, but I would like a little bit louder since I like more volume of the song than the sfx haha.
My high score was this
And I manage to get out of the map :D
To replicate this, you just need to stay still in the right corner and let an enemy hit you, for some reason it can be hard to move once it hit you or feels a bit like glue, but once it hits you, it won’t make you damage until you move again so this way the enemy pushes you through the map and in some parts of the tree wall there are gaps and you can get out from the cage.
You can do it in more places but here it’s easy since the enemies at the start come more from other sides.
But I still had fun playing this little game, good game ^^
Thank you for the feedback. I appreciate it. Yeah I should've added some kind of settings for the music and game volume. Will keep that in mind for the future. Also nice score. My highest was 2200.
I was actually hoping that no one would be able to find out that you get out of the map hahahaha. I let my sister playtest for a bit and she just let the enemies push her out of the map lol and yes The enemies stick on to you so that their comrades can come and gang up on you. I probably should've mentioned that somewhere. Thanks for checking out my game.
Love the small details like the sign that's clickable that tells you the keybinds. Great art style as well. Overall good job! If I had any pointers, you probably already heard it from other people- ramping up faster
love the art and vibes, could definitely have ramped up a bit faster though
Great bullet hell with fun graphics and game feel! wish the difficulty ramped up a bit faster though, as it takes a while before its at all challenging
I appreciate the feedback thank you. Yeah I might've made it too easy at the start. I didn't want things to get too difficult too fast and with only a limited amount of time, I couldn't optimise the difficulty that much. I probably should've done some play testing beforehand. Ah well, you live and you learn. Thanks for checking out the game :)
This was a super fun game to play! You clearly put a lot of effort into polishing the experience for the player. I really liked the weapon switching. Congrats!
You certainly nailed the bullet hell style :) running around and spraying & praying has never been better. On top of that, I really like the artistic choices. The visuals themselves are so lovely and fun, and the way they're applied makes it really easy to see. That's a problem I have with a lot of other bullet hells - getting overwhelmed and dying when there's too much on my screen to make sense of. Your art choices, however, make it crystal clear what's on my screen all the time. The game can be infinitely hectic and it can still be understood (and fun!). Developers big and small could learn a lot from your design choices. Great submission, good luck!
Thank you so much for the feedback. I'm so glad that all that hard work did not go to waste. Yeah I had the same issue with a lot of bullet hells where it gets crazy difficult too fast and there's much going on so I decided to make my own. This is my first official Game Jam and I'm really glad you liked my submission. Thanks again for the feedback :)
Really impressive how you pulled this off all by yourself! The atmosphere of this game is top-notch with all the shaders and particles. Just wondering if you could teach me how you manage to program all this without lagging the browser?
I actually did not use any shaders, I used mostly animations and particles. I actually can't write in that shader language lol so I found other ways to do things like when the enemies are hit I changed the modulate of the enemies to a slightly different shade of the original colour and then I reset it back to the original colour of the enemy, so it creates this flashing effect. One way I managed to decrease lag was that I added a visibility notifier node to the bullets. With this node, I can say that every time a bullet goes offscreen then get_tree.queue_free() to delete it. This way, the game won't lag as much. I made this game in Godot btw.
Fab game to be made in a week! :) had a great feel to the controls.
Nice art style as well, matched with the music and SFX,
Plenty to be expanded upon if you wished, but considering the jam time constraints, a commendable achievement in itself, well done!
Cool game and cute graphics. it was a little to easy, but balancing is hard on such a short time :) also it seemed liek it did not register hit if you shoot very fast, might be how it handle hit/apply damage. good work and keep at it :)
You've got the makings of a solid little indie game right here I can see it in the core gameplay loop. I'd love to see some i-frames on the dash to make it feel more aggressively viable and less defensively pigeon-holed, and definitely a couple more enemies/projectiles. I'm not sure if it's because my volume is low, but I couldn't hear any music either.
Hey man thanks for the feedback. Yeah I was gonna add settings to control music and sound effects but I ran out of time and didn't get to implement some other stuff. If you turn your volume up, you'll be able to hear the music. I didn't want to destroy people's ears so I decreased the db. Your suggestions are noted. Thanks again :)
also this was my first official game jam after learning Godot for 5 months so I was a little ambitious
Nicely done and it is pleasant. I like it :). I think if it was a bit zoomed out and had a bit more enemies, it would be even better!
Afterward, more content, monsters, weapons, or even buffs/debuffs.
Simple game but with good lighting and enjoyable gameplay! Good job on this one!
If you'll update it in the future, I suggest adding more enemies
The art is great, especially animations. I hope you'll continue to improve it, probably by adding some levels, more weapons and enemies. Really good job!
I just really, really like the unique look of everything in this game, and the overall experience is fantastic, I love it. Excellent!
I really enjoyed this game, the shooting is very satisfying and the audio effects sound great
