How does your game fit the theme?
The robot boy is using the time he has before a raging flood comes to find any scrap in a junkyard to help him survive.

Did you write all the code and made all the assets from scratch?
Yes, except for the song that plays in the main level (in the cave). I am bad with music production and the like. The song that plays in the junkyard is the only music composed by me.

Cool game about a TV collecting(?) mushrooms

Developer

uh no, it was a raft hahaha. I made the sprite in a hurry.  Was it the tiles that looked like mushrooms?

The thing that bounces the player.

Developer

oh haha, that's just a spring

The character jumps too low and is too fast. I've played the game on one computer and the in game visibility range was very poor, but I've tried it on a macbook and it was good - something is off with the scaling - it is not even across devices. Also as others mentioned - checkpoints would really help. I've liked the idea behind the game - how the computer runs away from the flood - pretty original :). Congratulations on finishing the game!

Ty for the info about the camera, I will look into that more now to see what I can do to fix it. I have already started fixing the player controller and it feels a little better. And checkpoints are for sure going to be added or just easier levels. I made the game harder cuz it was so short, but I realize that that was a bad idea. Ty for the kind words as well, I plan to work on it more to make it a cute little platformer game!

That's great, looking forward to it. Hey man, people are not giving that many reviews now and we just need one rating to qualify for the official results. So we would greatly appreciate if you could rate our game.

Fun but could use some checkpoints!

Developer

yah, I didn't have any time, mb, but I will fix it in the future!

Congrats for submitting the game and getting finished. Agree with some of the other comments, lack of checkpoints but mainly the abrupt controls make it a little difficult to control. Good job though.

Developer

Thank you! yup, all will be fixed in the future, but it was a fun and stressful weeklong project.

As a precision playformer enjoyer, i didn't enjoy this one
The lack of view hits hard, every jump on the upward section with springs feels like luck, i have no idea where is the next or previous platform is past first two.
No checkpoints also makes the whole level 2x more frustrating to retry.
The visual looks fine tho

Developer

Yah this was like my first ever game so was in a rush to even complete it. But in time I will for sure add a checkpoint system. The game is so short that it's only this one level so I just wanted to make it harder, but when I think about it now, that was a bad idea. I do appreciate the mentions of what can be improved tho, I will implement a better movement system in the future and also maybe tweak the camera. I wanted to camera to be zoomed in closer to the player so it wouldn't be lost in the background or smth, but zooming it out makes more sense. I probably spent most of my time on the games art, so I'm happy you liked that too.

What I liked about the game: Not bad visuals, I really liked the animation of the main character's explosion.

What I would change: I think the character's movements are too abrupt, because of this the game seems very difficult, especially for a person who rarely plays platformers, like me...

Good job anyway!

Developer

Thank you, I'm glad you liked the character animations! Yah the difficulty is  probably a little too high cuz I have just the one level. But I can for sure work on the movement in the future.

Tried to play a couple times, but i had a really hard time with the first horizontal spring. It eventually sprung me far enough to go across but I died soon after. Any tips so I can try again?

Developer (1 edit)

hahahaha ok so that spring is so weird, im not gonna lie, just keep trying it but at different times and it works eventually. If you jump and then land on top of it, it works better, but that spring was buggy since day one and I don't know how to fix it.
